Upregulation of CDGSH iron sulfur domain 2 attenuates cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury

CDGSH iron sulfur domain 2 can inhibit ferroptosis,which has been associated with cerebral ischemia/reperfusion,in individuals with head and neck ***,CDGSH iron sulfur domain 2 may be implicated in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion *** validate this hypothesis in the present study,we established mouse models of occlusion of the middle cerebral artery and HT22 cell models of oxygen-glucose deprivation and reoxygenation to mimic cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury in vivo and in vitro,*** found remarkably decreased CDGSH iron sulfur domain 2 expression in the mouse brain tissue and HT22 *** we used adeno-associated virus and plasmid to up-regulate CDGSH iron sulfur domain 2 expression in the brain tissue and HT22 cell models separately,mouse neurological dysfunction was greatly improved;the cerebral infarct volume was reduced;the survival rate of HT22 cells was increased;HT22 cell injury was alleviated;the expression of ferroptosis-related glutathione peroxidase 4,cystine-glutamate antiporter,and glutathione was increased;the levels of malondialdehyde,iron ions,and the expression of transferrin receptor 1 were decreased;and the expression of nuclear-factor E2-related factor 2/heme oxygenase 1 was *** of CDGSH iron sulfur domain 2 upregulation via the nuclear-factor E2-related factor 2 inhibitor ML385 in oxygen-glucose deprived and reoxygenated HT22 cells blocked the neuroprotective effects of CDGSH iron sulfur domain 2 up-regulation and the activation of the nuclear-factor E2-related factor 2/heme oxygenase 1 *** data indicate that the up-regulation of CDGSH iron sulfur domain 2 can attenuate cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury,thus providing theoretical support from the perspectives of cytology and experimental zoology for the use of this protein as a therapeutic target in patients with cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury.

Relationship between soil surface roughness and hydraulic roughness coefficient on sloping farmland

The soil surface roughness and hydraulic roughness coefficient are important hydraulic resistance characteristic parameters. Precisely estimating the hydraulic roughness coefficient is important to understanding mechanisms of overland flow. Four tillage practices, including cropland raking, artificial hoeing, artificial digging, and straight slopes, were considered based on the local agricultural conditions to simulate different values of soil surface roughness in the Loess Plateau. The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between the soil surface roughness and hydraulic roughness coefficient on sloping farmland using artificial rainfall simulation. On a slope with a gradient of 10°, a significant logarithmic function was developed between the soil surface roughness and Manning＇s roughness coefficient, and an exponential function was derived to describe the relationship between the soil surface roughness and Reynolds number. On the slope with a gradient of 15°, a significant power function was developed to reflect the relationship between the soil surface roughness and Manning＇s roughness coefficient, and a linear function was derived to relate the soil surface roughness to the Reynolds number. These findings can provide alternative ways to estimate the hydraulic roughness coefficient for different types of soil surface roughness.

Influence of resin flow on shrinkage of additive manufacturing coated sand molds

Coated sands are used extensively for additive manufacturing sand molds in the metal casting process, and the packing structure changes caused by the resin flow promote the shrinkage and deformation of the part. During the coated sand heating, the resin on the surface flowing to the contact points of the particles forms the resin neck and causes particles to pack close to each other. In this work, the diameters of the coated ceramsite sand before and after heating were measured based on in-situ experimental observations with image measuring apparatus and blue laser, to obtain the relationship between resin coating thickness and the particle diameter. The particle packing model was established to describe the particles＇ achievement of a stable state one by one. A re-packing simulation was then performed after reducing the particle diameter according to the resin coating thickness, to obtain the shrinkage ratios at different particle size distributions. It was found that the resin coating thickness increased from 0.8 to 2.3 IJm as the particle diameter increased from 107 to 500 IJm, for the coated ceramsite sand with the resin content of 2wt.%; the shrinkage ratio decreased first and then increased as the particle diameter increased. The experimental minimum shrinkage ratio was 3.28%, and the corresponding particle diameter was 300-375 IJm, while the minimum shrinkage ratio obtained by simulation was 3.43%, and the corresponding particle diameter was 214-300 IJm. After mixing the five groups proportionally, the shrinkage ratios of the simulation and experiment dropped to 2.81% and 3.04%, respectively, indicating the best results.

Curvature-controlled band alignment transition in 1D van der Waals heterostructures

The effect of curvature on the band alignment of one-dimensional (1D) van der Waals (vdW) transition metal dichalcogenide(TMDC) heterostructures is studied by comprehensive first-principles calculations. We find that, as the diameter of a TMDCnanotube decreases, the combined effect of curvature-induced flexoelectricity and circumferential tensile strain causes a rapidlowering of the conduction band minimum, whereas the valence band maximum exhibits an initial lowering before rising. Asindividual TMDC nanotubes form coaxial heterostructures, the concerted effect of diameter-dependent band-edge levels andintertube coupling via flexovoltage can result in a transition of intertube band alignment from Type II to Type I in multipleheterostructural systems, including large-diameter MoSe_(2)@WS_(2), MoTe_(2)@MoSe_(2), and MoTe_(2)@WS_(2) heterostructures. These results laydown a foundation for the rational design of 1D vdW heterostructures.

Effects of water application intensity of micro-sprinkler irrigation and soil salinity on environment of coastal saline soils

To achieve the greatest leaching efficiency,water movement must occur under unsaturated flow ***,the water application intensity of irrigation must be chosen *** aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of the water application intensity of micro-sprinkler irrigation on coastal saline soil with different salt *** achieve this objective,a laboratory experiment was conducted with three soil salinity treatments(2.26,10.13,and 22.29 dS/m)and three water application intensity treatments(3.05,5.19,and 7.23 mm/h).The results showed that the effect of soil salinity on soil water content,electrical conductivity,and pH was significant,and the effect of the water application intensity was *** soil water content was present in the 40e60 cm profile in all soil salinity treatments,and the content was higher in the medium and high water application intensity treatments than in the low-intensity *** salt leaching occurred in all treatments,and the effect was stronger in the high soil salinity treatment and medium water application intensity *** the medium and high soil salinity treatments,pH exhibited a decreasing trend,with no trend change in the low soil salinity treatment,and the pH value was higher in the medium water application intensity treatment than in the other two *** results indicated that the three intensities evaluated had no statistically different effect on the electrical conductivity of saturated soil-paste extracts(EC)in the upper 20 cm of the soil profile,and it would be better to maintain a lower value of the water application intensity.

Dry sliding wear performance of 7075 Al alloy under different temperatures and load conditions

Dry sliding wear tests were performed for 7075Al alloy under a load of 25–250 N at 25–200℃. The wear behaviors and mechanisms under various testing conditions were explored. A mild-to-severe wear transition is noticed to occur with an increase in the load at 25–200℃. With the temperature increasing, the wear loss decreases constantly under the low load of less than 50 N. It can be suggested that the 7075 Al alloy presents a high wear resistance under a high ambient temperature and low load. Its high wear resistance is found to be attributed to the existence of mechanically mixing layer (MML). The predominant wear mechanism is adhesive and abrasive wear at room temperature. With the ambient temperature and load increasing, oxidative wear and plastic extrusive wear successively prevail due to thermal oxidation and softening of matrix.

Sugarcane derived carbon@CuS-octadecanol composite phase change materials for efficient solar thermal storage

Biomass carbon has the advantage of a wide spectral absorption range, which makes it great potential for solar thermal utilization. In this study, porous skeleton support materials of sugarcane-derived carbon were prepared by freeze-drying-high-temperature carbonization method using natural sugarcane as raw material, and the characterization results demonstrate that the porous skeleton of sugarcane-derived carbon has outstanding porous support properties. By combining CuS with sugarcane-derived carbon, a porous material with outstanding photothermal conversion performance was synthesized. Four photo-thermal composite phase change materials（CPCMs） were prepared, the maximum loading mass of the support material C600 to the phase change materials（PCMs） reached 79.77 %. The C600-CuS-OC had excellent thermal storage properties with an enthalpy of melting of 276.3 J/g and a thermal conductivity of 0.61 W·m-1·K-1. The photo-thermal conversion efficiency of C600-CuS-OC was 83.2 %. Sugarcane carbon-based CPCMs are a low-cost and high-efficiency solar thermal storage material, which has great potential for applications in solar thermal storage, biomass utilization, and thermal management.
