The deterioration of the surface water environment has become a serious challenge for water resources management due to increasing anthropogenic disturbance. Water resources protection requires control of potential pollution sources. In this study, 99 water samples were collected from a river in a typical agricultural city of Anhui Province in eastern China, and these samples were analyzed in terms of pH, electrical conductivity, and the concentrations of F-, Cl-, SO42-, Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, As, Cr, Cu, Zn, and Pb. Cluster analysis, co-occurrence network analysis, and principal component analysis/factor analysis were conducted to qualitatively identify the potential sources of river water pollution in the study area. An absolute principal component score-multiple linear regression receptor model was used to quantitatively evaluate the contribution of each source to water quality parameters. The results showed that all observed water quality indices met the quality criteria specified in the Chinese drinking water standards, except for pH, ρ(F-), ρ(SO42-), and ρ(As). The heat map showed that the frequent recharge of pollutants from the tributaries during the wet season was the main reason for the deterioration of water quality. Five sources of river water pollution were identified, and their contribution ratios in a descending order were as follows: the geogenic process (24%) > agricultural activities (21%) > poultry farming sources (17%) > domestic pollution (9%) > transportation pollution (5%). Therefore, controlling pollution from agricultural activities, strengthening the regulation of livestock farming, and improving the sewage network are the recommended strategies for improving the quality of surface water resources in this area.

Melanization is an important innate immune defense mechanism of insects,which can kill invading pathogens.Most pathogens,for their survival and reproduction,inhibit the melanization of the host.Interestingly,our results suggested that after infection with Heliothis virescens ascovirus 3h(HvAV-3h),the speed of melanization in infected Spodoptera exigiia larval hemolymph was accelerated and that the phenoloxidase(PO)activity of hemolymph in larvae infected with HvAV-3h increased significantly(1.20-fold at 96 hpi,1.52-fold at 120 hpi,1.23-fold at 144 hpi,1.12-fold at 168 hpi).The transcription level of the gene encoding S.exigua prophenoloxidase-1(SePPO-1 gene)was upregulated dramatically in the fat body during the middle stage of infection.In addition,when melanization was inhibited or promoted,the replication of HvAV-3h was inhibited or promoted,respectively.In conclusion,infection with HvAV-3h can markedly induce melanization in the middle stage of infection,and melanization is helpful for HvAV-3h viral replication.

BACKGROUND Preoperative evaluation of frailty is limited to a few surgical procedures.However,the evaluation in Chinese elderly gastric cancer(GC)patients remains blank.AIM To validate and estimate the prognostic value of the 11-index modified frailty index(mFI-11)for predicting postoperative anastomotic fistula,intensive care unit(ICU)admission,and long-term survival in elderly patients(over 65 years of age)undergoing radical GC.METHODS This study was a retrospective cohort study which included patients who underwent elective gastrectomy with D2 Lymph node dissection between April 1,2017 and April 1,2019.The primary outcome was 1-year all-cause mortality.The secondary outcomes were admission to ICU,anastomotic fistula,and 6-mo mortality.Patients were divided into two groups according to the optimal grouping cutoff of 0.27 points from previous studies:High risk of frailty marked as mFI-11High and low risk of frailty marked as mFI-11Low.Survival curves between the two groups were compared,and univariate and multivariate regression analyses were performed to explore the relationship between preoperative frailty and postoperative complications in elderly patients undergoing radical GC.The discrimination ability of the mFI-11,prognostic nutritional index,and tumornode-metastasis pathological stage to identify adverse postoperative outcomes was assessed by calculating the area under the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve.RESULTS A total of 1003 patients were included,of which 13.86%(139/1003)were defined as having mFI-11High and 86.14%(864/1003)as having mFI-11Low.By comparing the incidence of postoperative complications in the two groups of patients,it was found that mFI-11High patients had higher rates of 1-year postoperative mortality,admission to ICU,anastomotic fistula,and 6-mo mortality than the mFI-11Low group(18.0%vs 8.9%,P=0.001;31.7%vs 14.7%,P<0.001;7.9%vs 2.8%,P<0.001;and 12.2%vs 3.6%,P<0.001).Multivariate analysis revealed mFI-11 as an independent predictive indicator for postoperative outcome[1-y

Animal expe riments have shown that injectable collagen scaffold with human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells can promote recovery from spinal cord injury.To investigate whether injectable collagen scaffold with human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells can be used to treat spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage,this non-randomized phase I clinical trial recruited patients who met the inclusion criteria and did not meet the exclusion crite ria of spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage treated in the Characteristic Medical Center of Chinese People’s Armed Police Force from May 2016 to December 2020.Patients were divided into three groups according to the clinical situation and patient benefit:control(n=18),human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells(n=4),and combination(n=8).The control group did not receive any transplantation.The human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells group received human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cell transplantation.The combination group received injectable collagen scaffold with human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells.Patients who received injectable collagen scaffold with human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells had more remarkable improvements in activities of daily living and cognitive function and smaller foci of intra cerebral hemorrhage-related encephalomalacia.Severe adve rse events associated with cell transplantation were not observed.Injectable collagen scaffold with human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells appears to have great potential treating spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage.

Objective:The skin manifestations of dermatomyositis(DM)are complex and diverse,with some rashes having diagnostic significance,while others have a certain suggestive effect on the patient’s condition,visceral damage,and prognosis.This case-cohort study was performed to investigate the skin manifestations of 205 adult inpatients with DM.We then analyzed the association between the clinical characteristics and panniculitis in adult patients with DM.Methods:This study was conducted at the First Medical Center of PLA General Hospital,Beijing,China from March 1,2016 to December 30,2020 with follow-up until December 31,2021.This case-cohort study involved 205 eligible participants with DM who met the criteria for idiopathic inflammatory myopathy.Clinical data,cutaneous manifestations,and lesion locations were screened and analyzed.Serum samples were collected,and immunoblotting was used to detect 16 types of myositis-specific antibodies and myositis-associated antibodies.Results:The results showed that 16(7.8%)of the 205 adult patients with DM had panniculitis.The panniculitis was mainly distributed in the subcutaneous fat of the abdomen,buttocks,and thighs.This condition was often accompanied by skin ulcers,atrophic scars,and calcinosis.Moreover,9(72.7%)of the 16 patients with panniculitis were positive for antibodies to nuclear matrix protein 2(anti-NXP2 antibodies).Conclusion:The data showed that panniculitis is an uncommon skin manifestation in adult patients with DM,with a positivity rate of 7.8%.The appearance of panniculitis is likely associated with anti-NXP2 antibodies.

Automated Testing of Web Applications Using Combinatorial Strategies

Recently, testing techniques based on dynamic exploration, which try to automatically exercise every possible user interface element, have been extensively used to facilitate fully testing web applications. Most of such testing tools are however not effective in reaching dynamic pages induced by form interactions due to their emphasis on handling client-side scripting. In this paper, we present a combinatorial strategy to achieve a full form test and build an automated test model. We propose an algorithm called pairwise testing with constraints （PTC） to iraplement the strategy. Our PTC algorithm uses pairwise coverage and handles the issues of semantic constraints and illegal values. We have implemented a prototype tool ComjaxTest and conducted an empirical study on five web applications. Experimental results indicate that our PTC algorithm generates less form test cases while achieving a higher coverage of dynamic pages than the general pairwise testing algorithm. Additionally, our ComjaxTest generates a relatively complete test model and then detects more faults in a reasonable amount of time, as compared with other existing tools based on dynamic exploration.

Boiling heat transfer is a mode using the phase change of working medium to strengthen the heat exchange due to its good heat exchange capability,and it is widely used in heat exchange engineering.Nanofluids have been used in the direction of enhanced heat transfer for their superior thermophysical property.The wetting,spreading and ripple phenomena of superhydrophobic surfaces widely exist in nature and daily life.It has great application value for engineering technology.In this article,the boiling heat exchange characteristics of nanofluids on superhydrophobic surface are numerically studied.It was found that with the increase of superheating degree,the steam volume ratio of unmodified heated surface increases to saturation,while the steam volume and evaporation ratio of modified superhydrophobic surface increase firstly and then decrease.At the same time,bubbles are generated and accumulated more fully on superhydrophobic surface.It was also found that nanofluids with low viscosity are more affected by superhydrophobic surface characteristics,and the increase is more significant with high superheating degree,and the superhydrophobic surface is beneficial to enhancing boiling heat exchange.Compared with the simulation results,it could be concluded that the boiling heat exchange performance of CuO-water nano-fluids on the modified superhydrophobic surface is better than that of CuO-ethylene glycol nanofluids under high superheating degree.

The aim of this study was to explore the optimal timing of holmium laser enucleation of the prostate(HoLEP)in patients presenting benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)with lower urinary tract symptoms(LUTS).A retrospective analysis was conducted based on the perioperative and postoperative outcome data of 1212 patients who underwent HoLEP in Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital(Shanghai,China)between January 2009 and December 2018.According to the preoperative International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS),all patients whom we analyzed were divided into Group A(IPSS of 8–18)and Group B(IPSS of 19–35).Peri-and postoperative outcome data were obtained during the 1-year follow-up.IPSS changes were the main postoperative outcomes.The postoperative IPSS,quality of life,peak urinary flow rate,postvoid residual,and overactive bladder symptom score(OABSS)improved significantly.The IPSS improved further in the group with severe LUTS symptoms,but the postoperative IPSS was still higher than that in the moderate LUTS group.OABSSs showing moderate and severe cases after follow-up were more frequent in Group B(9.1%)than in Group A(5.2%)(P<0.05).There were no significant intergroup differences in the intraoperative American Society of Anesthesiologists or hospitalization expense scores,and the medication costs,as well as the total costs,were significantly higher in Group B.In this retrospective study,HoLEP was an effective treatment for symptomatic BPH.For patients with LUTS,earlier surgery in patients with moderate severity may result in a marginally better 12-month IPSS than that in men with severe symptoms.

Background: Warm ischemia jeopardizes graft quality and recipient survival in donation after cardiac death(DCD) transplantation. Currently, there is no system to objectively evaluate the liver quality from DCD. The present study tried to use energy metabolites to evaluate the donor liver quality. Methods: We divided 195 Sprague-Dawley rats into five groups: the control( n = 39), warm ischemic time(WIT) 15 min( n = 39), WIT 30 min( n = 39), WIT 45 min( n = 39), and WIT 60 min( n = 39) groups. Three rats from each group were randomly selected for pretransplant histologic evaluation of warm ischemiarelated damage. The remaining 36 rats were randomly divided into donors and recipients of 18 liver transplantations, and were subjected to postoperative liver function and survival analyses. Between cardiac arrest and cold storage, liver energy metabolites including glucose, lactate, pyruvate, and glycerol were measured by microdialysis. The lactate to pyruvate ratio(LPR) was calculated. Results: The changes in preoperative pathology with warm ischemia were inconspicuous, but the trends in postoperative pathology and aminotransferase levels were consistent with preoperative energy metabolite measurements. The 30-day survival rates of the control and WIT 15, 30, 45, and 60 min groups were 100%, 81.82%, 76.92%, 58.33%, and 25.00%, respectively. The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves of glucose, lactate, glycerol, and LPR were 0.87, 0.88, 0.88, and 0.92, respectively. Conclusion: Glucose, lactate, glycerol, and LPR are predictors of graft quality and survival outcomes in DCD transplantation.
