Alcohol drinking triggered decrease of oxidative balance score is associated with high all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in hypertensive individuals: findings from NHANES 1999-2014

BACKGROUND:Oxidative stress is closely associated with hypertensive outcomes. The oxidative balance score (OBS) measures oxidative stress exposure from dietary and lifestyle elements. The objective of this study was to investigate the association between OBS and mortality in hypertensive patients.METHODS:This study included 7823 hypertensive patients from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 1999-2014. Several models, including Cox regression, restricted cubic splines (RCS), Kaplan‒Meier survival analysis, subgroup, and sensitivity analyses, were exploited to investigate the relationship between OBS and the risk of mortality.RESULTS:Controlling for all potential confounders, a significantly inverse association was observed between elevated OBS and all-cause [hazard ratio (HR) = 0.90, 95% CI: 0.85-0.95] and cardiovascular mortality (HR = 0.85, 95% CI: 0.75-0.95). With adjustment for covariates, significant associations between lifestyle OBS and mortality risks diminished, whereas associations between dietary OBS and these mortality risks remained robust (all-cause mortality: HR = 0.91, 95% CI: 0.86-0.96; cardiovascular mortality: HR = 0.85, 95% CI: 0.76-0.96). RCS demonstrated a linear relationship between OBS and all-cause and cardiovascular mortality risk ( = 0.088 and = 0.447, respectively). Kaplan‒Meier curves demonstrated that the mortality rate was lower with a high OBS ( lity compared with former or never drinkers.CONCLUSIONS:In hypertensive individuals, there was a negative association between OBS and all-cause and cardiovascular mortality. Encouraging hypertensive individuals, especially those currently drinking, to maintain high levels of OBS may be beneficial in improving their prognosis.

Oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is the imperative reaction for many energy storage and conversion devices such as recharge-able metal-air batteries and electrochemical water splitting[1].OER is a complex 4-electron process with sluggish kinetics and therefore requires electrocatalysts to overcome the high *** oxide(RuO_(2))and iridium oxide(IrO_(2))catalysts can promote the OER process remarkably[2-4],however,their ex-tremely high cost,natural scarcity,and long-term instability con-strain their scale-up application in clean-energy technologies[5,6].It is crucial to develop inexpensive,highly efficient,and durable electrocatalysts for OER.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries(AziBs)have been regarded as prospective rechargeable energy storage devices because of the high theoretical capacity and low redox potential of Zn ***,the uncontrollable formation of dendrites and the water-induced side reactions at the Zn/electrolyte interface,and the poor reversibility under a high current density(>2 mA·cm^(-2))and large area capacity(>2 mAh·cm^(-2))still limit the practical applications of ***,a strategy that can overcome these difficulties is urgently ***,we introduce an environmentally friendly and low-cost additive,namely urea,to the electrolyte of AziBs to induce uniform Zn deposition and suppress the side *** of the adsorption behavior,electrochemical characterization,and observations of the morphology revealed the interfacial modification induced by urea on the Zn/electrolyte interface,demonstrating its huge potential in ***,the long-term cycling stability(over2100 h)of a Zn/Zn symmetric cell under a high current density of 5 mA·cm^(-2)and a capacity of 5 mAh·cm^(-2)was achieved with a 1 mol·L^(-1)ZnSO_(4)electrolyte with the urea ***,the assembled Zn/NH_4V_4O_(10)full cell with urea exhibited excellent cycling performance and an outstanding average Coulombic efficiency of 99.98%.These results indicate that this is a low-cost and effective additive strategy for realizing highly reversible AziBs.

Optimal mining sequence for coal faces under a bedding slope:insight from landslide prevention

Repetitive mining beneath bedding slopes is identified as a critical factor in geomorphic disturbances, especially landslides and surface subsidence. Prior research has largely concentrated on surface deformation in plains due to multi-seam coal mining and the instability of natural bedding slopes, yet the cumulative impact of different mining sequences on bedding slopes has been less explored. This study combines drone surveys and geological data to construct a comprehensive three-dimensional model of bedding slopes. Utilizing FLAC3D and PFC2D models, derived from laboratory experiments, it simulates stress, deformation, and failure dynamics of slopes under various mining sequences. Incorporating fractal dimension analysis, the research evaluates the stability of slopes in relation to different mining sequences. The findings reveal that mining in an upslope direction minimizes disruption to overlying strata. Initiating extraction from lower segments increases tensile-shear stress in coal pillar overburdens, resulting in greater creep deformation towards the downslope than when starting from upper segments, potentially leading to localized landslides and widespread creep deformation in mined-out areas. The downslope upward mining sequence exhibits the least fractal dimensions, indicating minimal disturbance to both strata and surface. While all five mining scenarios maintain good slope stability under normal conditions, recalibrated stability assessments based on fractal dimensions suggest that downslope upward mining offers the highest stability under rainfall, contrasting with the lower stability and potential instability risks of upslope downward mining. These insights are pivotal for mining operations and geological hazard mitigation in multi-seam coal exploitation on bedding slopes.

An“on–off–on”fluorescence sensor was designed for rapidly and consecutively detecting 4-nitrophenol and cerium(IV)without the use of any labeling *** yellow carbon dots were synthesized by a simple one-step hydrothermal approach,and various techniques were applied to investigate the morphology,structure,and optical properties of the carbon *** the optimal experimental conditions,4-nitrophenol rapidly quenched the fluorescence of carbon dots as a result of the inner filter eff ect(IFE).The fluorescence intensity of carbon dots was linear with the concentration of 4-nitrophenol(1–150μmol/L)and the limit of detection was 0.32μmol/*** fluorescence was gradually recovered as the cerium(IV)concentration(0.5–100μmol/L)increased in CDs/4-NP,and the limit of detection was 0.16μmol/*** sensor showed good selectivity and demonstrated high accuracy for the analysis of 4-nitrophenol and cerium(IV)in actual water samples.

Domain wall network:A dual solution for gravitational waves and Hubble tension?

We explore the possibility that domain wall networks generate the stochastic gravitational wave background（SGWB） observed as a strong common power-law process in the Data Release-2 of Parkes Pulsar Timing Array. We find that a broad range of parameters, specifically wall tension around σDW～（29-414 TeV）3and wall-decay temperature within Td～ 20-257 MeV, can explain this phenomenon at a 68% credible level. Meanwhile, the same parameters could ease the Hubble tension if particles from these domain wall networks decay into dark radiation. We establish a direct analytical relationship, ?GW（fp, T0）h2～ ?radh2(?ν?Neff)2,to illustrate this coincidence, underlining its importance in the underlying physics and potential applicability to a wider range of models and data. Conversely, if the common power-law process is not attributed to domain wall networks, our findings impose tight limits on the wall tension and decay temperature.

Multi-Agent Path Planning Method Based on Improved Deep Q-Network in Dynamic Environments

The multi-agent path planning problem presents significant challenges in dynamic environments,primarily due to the ever-changing positions of obstacles and the complex interactions between agents’*** factors contribute to a tendency for the solution to converge slowly,and in some cases,diverge *** addressing this issue,this paper introduces a novel approach utilizing a double dueling deep Q-network(D3QN),tailored for dynamic multi-agent environments.A novel reward function based on multi-agent positional constraints is designed,and a training strategy based on incremental learning is performed to achieve collaborative path planning of multiple ***,the greedy and Boltzmann probability selection policy is introduced for action selection and avoiding convergence to local *** match radar and image sensors,a convolutional neural network-long short-term memory(CNN-LSTM)architecture is constructed to extract the feature of multi-source measurement as the input of the *** algorithm’s efficacy and reliability are validated in a simulated environment,utilizing robot operating system and *** simulation results show that the proposed algorithm provides a real-time solution for path planning tasks in dynamic *** terms of the average success rate and accuracy,the proposed method is superior to other deep learning algorithms,and the convergence speed is also improved.
