Etiology analysis for term newborns with severe hyperbilirubinemia in eastern Guangdong of China

BACKGROUND Neonatal hyperbilirubinemia is one of the common diseases of newborns that typically presents with yellow staining of skin,resulting in sequelaes such as hearing loss,motor and intellectual development disorders,and even *** pathogenic factors of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia are *** cases of hyperbilirubinemia may have a single or mixed *** To explore the etiological characteristics of severe hyperbilirubinemia in term newborns of eastern Guangdong of *** Term newborns with severe hyperbilirubinemia in one hospital from January 2012 to December 2021 were retrospectively *** etiology was determined according to the laboratory results and clinical *** Among 1602 term newborns with hyperbilirubinemia in eastern Guangdong of China,32.20%(580/1602)was severe *** the causes of severe hyperbilirubinemia,neonatal hemolysis accounted for 15.17%,breast milk jaundice accounted for 12.09%,infection accounted for 10.17%,glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase(G6PD)deficiency accounted for 9.14%,and the coexistence of multiple etiologies accounted for 6.55%,unknown etiology accounted for 41.72%.ABO hemolysis and G6PD deficiency were the most common causes in the 20 cases with bilirubin encephalopathy.94 severe hyperbilirubinemia newborns were tested for uridine diphosphate glucuronosyl transferase 1A1(UGT1A1)*6 variant(rs4148323,c.211G>A,***71Gly),9 cases were 211 G to A homozygous variant,37 cases were 211 G to A heterozygous variant,and 48 cases were wild *** The main cause for severe hyperbilirubinemia and bilirubin encephalopathy in eastern Guangdong of China were the hemolytic disease of the newborns,G6PD deficiency and ***1A1 gene variant was also a high-risk factor for neonatal *** prevention and treatment according to the etiology may reduce the occurrence of bilirubin encephalopathy and kernicterus.

Spacecraft Doppler tracking with possible violations of LLI and LPI: preliminary bounds on LLI from Mars Express

Three-way spacecraft Doppler tracking is currently widely used and it plays an important role in the control and navigation of deep space missions. Using the theory of three-way Doppler tracking, including possible violations of the local Lorentz invariance （LLI） and the local position invariance （LPI）, we analyze the post-fit residuals of three-way Doppler tracking data of Mars Express. These Doppler observations were carried out from August 7th to 8th in 2009, with an uplink station administered by the European Space Agency at New Norcia in Australia and three downlink stations at Shanghai, Kunming and Urumqi in China. We find that, although these observations impose preliminary bounds on LLI at the level of 10^-2, they are not suitable for testing LPI because of the configuration of these stations and the accuracy of the observations. To our knowledge, this is one of the first attempts in China to apply radio science to the field of fundamental physics.

A novel full-digital real-time neutron flux monitor(NFM) has been developed for thorium-based molten salt reactor(TMSR).The system is based on the highspeed,parallel,and pipeline processing of the field programmable gate array as well as the high-stability controller area network platform.A measurement range of 10~8 counts per second is achieved with a single fission chamber by utilizing the normalization of the count and Campbell *** the advantages of using the measurement range,system integrity,and real-time performance,digital NFM has been tested in the Xi'an pulsed reactor fission experiments and was found to exhibit superior experimental performance.

Bi-hydrogel strips consisting of a highly swelling layer and a non-swelling layer are investigated in this study,in which the differential swelling capabilities and mismatch strain in the composite structure drive the strips into a bending configuration when being exposed to solvents.A modified analytical model originated from Timoshenko theory on bi-material beam is proposed to predict the swelling-induced bending shape of the bi-hydrogel strips,with explicit relations of bending curvature and mid-span deflection versus mismatch *** sets of experiments were performed to verify the analytical model and its solutions,in which the swellinginduced mismatch strain was systematically tuned by the selection of saline *** broad agreements bet ween the t heore tical and experimen tai results indicate that the modified analytical model can be used to guide the design of morphing elements by modulating layer-bylayer mismatches in gel composites to produce precise and complex shape transformations for practical applications.

Prognostic and pathological impact of tumor budding in gastric cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis

BACKGROUND Tumor budding,is a promising prognostic hallmark in many cancers,and can help us better assess the degree of malignancy in gastric cancer(GC)and in colorectal *** the past few years,several articles on the relationship between tumor budding and GC have been published,but different results have been *** the relationship between tumor budding and GC remains controversial,we integrated the data from 7 eligible studies to conduct a systematic review and *** To systematically evaluate the prognostic and pathological impact of tumor budding in *** Literature searches were conducted in the PubMed,Cochrane Library,EMBASE and Web of Science databases,and 7 cohort studies involving 2178 patients met our criteria and included in the *** patients were divided into those with high-grade tumor budding and those with low-grade tumor budding,and the cut-off values for tumor budding varied across the included *** hazard ratios(HRs)with 95%confidence intervals(CIs)were calculated to estimate the impact of tumor budding on overall survival(OS)in GC *** odds ratios(ORs)with 95%CIs were used to determine the correlation between tumor budding and pathological parameters(tumor stage,tumor differentiation,lymphovascular invasion,lymph node metastasis)of *** Seven studies involving 2178 patients were included in the *** combined ORs suggested that high-grade tumor budding was significantly associated with tumor stage(OR=6.63,95%CI:4.01-10.98,P<0.01),tumor differentiation(OR=3.74,95%CI:2.68-5.22,P<0.01),lymphovascular invasion(OR=7.85,95%CI:5.04-12.21,P<0.01),and lymph node metastasis(OR=5.75,95%CI:3.20-10.32,P<0.01).Moreover,high-grade tumor budding predicted a poor 5-year OS(HR=1.79,95%CI:1.53-2.05,P<0.01)in patients with GC and an adverse 5-year OS(HR=1.93,95%CI:1.45-2.42,P<0.01)in patients with intestinal-type *** High-grade tumor budding suggested a poor prognosis in patients with GC o

RNA interference of a trehalose-6-phosphate synthase gene reveals its roles in the biosynthesis of chitin and lipids in Heortia vitessoides(Lepidoptera:Crambidae)

Trehalose 6-phosphate synthase(TPS),an enzyme that hydrolyzes two glucose molecules to yield trchalose,plays a pivotal role in various physiological *** this study,we cloned the trehalose-6-phosphate synthase gene(HvTPS)and investigated its expression patterns in various tssues and d:velopmental stages in Heortia vitessoides Moore(Lepidoptera:Crambidac).HvTPS was highly expressed in the fat body and after pupation or before *** knocked down TPS in *** by RNA interference and found that 3.0μg of dsHvTPS resulted in optimal interference at 24 h and 36 h post-injection and caused a sharp decline in the survival rate during the 5th instar larval-pupal stage and obviously abnormal or lethal *** to the controls,TPS activity and trehalose contents were significantly lower and the glucose content was significantly higher 24 h or 36 h after injection with 3.0μg of ***,the silencing of HvTPS suppressed the cxpression of six key genecs in the chitin biosynthesis pathway and one key gene related to lipid *** expression levels of two genes associated with lipid biosynthesis were *** results strongly suggest that HvTPS is essential for the normal growth and development of *** and provide a reference for further studies of the utility of key genes involved in chitin and lipid biosynthesis for controlling insect development.

A medium-entropy high-speed steel(ME-HSS)coating with the 76 at.%of Fe and multiple alloying elements was prepared by the wide-band laser *** with the commercial W6 Mo5 Cr4 V2(M2)HSS coating which contains a large number of network lamellar M2 C-type carbides along the grain boundaries,the presented ME-HSS coating has a high quantity of fi ner and more uniformly dispersed M C-type carbides;on the other hand,the coating has less retained austenite and much lower brittleness as well as similar secondary hardening eff ect and tempering hardness.
