Preparation of Chemically Recyclable Poly(ether-alt-ester) by the Ring Opening Polymerization of Cyclic Monomers Synthesized by Coupling Glycolide and Epoxides

Polyester and polyether are two key oxygenated polymers, and completely alternative sequence of poly(ester-alt-ether) could efficiently combine the advantages(including flexibility, degradability, etc.) of both segments. Currently, despite their copolymers could be synthesized from one-pot mixture of cyclic esters and epoxides, perfectly alternative microstructure is very challenging to realize and typically restricted to certain monomer pairs. Moving forward, synthesizing poly(ester-alt-ether) from commercially available and largescale monomers would be a significant advance. For example, successfully commercialized poly(glycolic acid)(PGA), which is not easily soluble in polymers due to its high crystallinity and is brittle and difficult to control the degradation cycle, would encounter a new paradigm if engineered into poly(ester-altether). In this work, starting from the design of monomer with hybrid structures, we successfully synthesized a series of 1,4-dioxan-2-one containing different substituents based on glycolide(GA) and epoxides using commercially available Salen-Cr(III) and PPNCl catalytic *** new monomers underwent ring-opening polymerization(ROP) to form a series of poly(ester-alt-ether) with perfectly alternating glycolic acid and propylene glycol repeat units under catalytic system of thiourea/base. The poly(ester-alt-ether) have significantly lower glass-transition temperature than PGA. Additionally, the poly(ester-alt-ether) can be chemically recovered to monomer using Sn(Oct)2 or 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undecane-7-ene(DBU) as a catalyst in solution, thus establishing a closed-loop life cycle. From monomers derived from GA and epoxides, this work furnishes a novel strategy for the synthesis of poly(ester-alt-ether) with chemical recyclability.

Copolymerization of propylene oxide(PO)/carbon dioxide(CO_(2))and lactide(LA)is achievable to form new copolymers,combining the advantages of both poly(propylene carbonate)(PPC)and polylactide(PLA).In this study,we designed a dinuclear Salen-Cr(Ⅲ)complex,which showed higher efficiency for copolymerization of PO/CO_(2)and LA than that of mononuclear Salen-Cr(Ⅲ)***,we successfully obtained gradient and random copolymers of PPC-PLA in one ***,by adjusting reaction temperature,block ratios of PPC/PLA in copolymers were controllable(block ratio of PPC/PLA=1.0 at 40℃,while block ratio of PPC/PLA=0.5 at room temperature).While increasing the reaction temperature to 60℃,conversion of LA was much faster than that of PO so that gradient copolymers were obtained.

Role of the globus pallidus in motor and non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease

The globus pallidus plays a pivotal role in the basal ganglia circuit. Parkinson's disease is characterized by degeneration of dopamine-producing cells in the substantia nigra, which leads to dopamine deficiency in the brain that subsequently manifests as various motor and non-motor symptoms. This review aims to summarize the involvement of the globus pallidus in both motor and non-motor manifestations of Parkinson's disease. The firing activities of parvalbumin neurons in the medial globus pallidus, including both the firing rate and pattern, exhibit strong correlations with the bradykinesia and rigidity associated with Parkinson's disease. Increased beta oscillations, which are highly correlated with bradykinesia and rigidity, are regulated by the lateral globus pallidus. Furthermore,bradykinesia and rigidity are strongly linked to the loss of dopaminergic projections within the cortical-basal ganglia-thalamocortical loop. Resting tremors are attributed to the transmission of pathological signals from the basal ganglia through the motor cortex to the cerebellum-ventral intermediate nucleus circuit. The cortico–striato–pallidal loop is responsible for mediating pallidi-associated sleep disorders. Medication and deep brain stimulation are the primary therapeutic strategies addressing the globus pallidus in Parkinson's disease. Medication is the primary treatment for motor symptoms in the early stages of Parkinson's disease, while deep brain stimulation has been clinically proven to be effective in alleviating symptoms in patients with advanced Parkinson's disease,particularly for the movement disorders caused by levodopa. Deep brain stimulation targeting the globus pallidus internus can improve motor function in patients with tremordominant and non-tremor-dominant Parkinson's disease, while deep brain stimulation targeting the globus pallidus externus can alter the temporal pattern of neural activity throughout the basal ganglia–thalamus network. A Self-growing Porous Calcium-based Adsorbent Derived from Biowaste for Efficient Wastewater Purification

Traditional adsorbents are normally suffered from a low adsorption capacity that has a finite saturated adsorption capacity. We reported herein a hierarchical self-growing porous calcium silicate hydrate(CSH) that uses biowaste as the precursor and is highly efficient in wastewater purification. In the process of phosphorus removal, CSH can react with phosphorus in water and grow into the hydroxyapatite(HAP). The generation of HAP further increases the active sites while maintains the porous structure of pristine CSH. Subsequently, the HAP could conduct the efficient extraction of Pb^(2+) from wastewater based on the ion exchange between Ca^(2+) and Pb^(2+). Clearly, the CSH structure has self-growing structure using the pollutants as the building blocks, not only achieving high adsorption capacity for pollutants, but also maintaining the hierarchically porous structure that supports the high efficiency in the next cycling. We provide here an intriguing pathway to tackle bottleneck of the traditional adsorbents, i.e., a finite saturated adsorption capacity.

UiO-66-NH2 is an efficient material for removing pollutants from wastewater due to its high specific surface area,high porosity and water ***,recycling them from wastewater is *** this study,the cellulose nanofibers mat deacetylated from cellulose acetate nanofibers were used to combine with UiO-66-NH_(2)by the method of in-situ growth to remove the toxic dye,rose *** to previous work,the prepared composite could not only provide ease of separation of UiO-66-NH_(2)from the water after adsorption but also demonstrate better adsorption capacity(683 mg∙g‒1(T=25°C,pH=3))than that of the simple UiO-66-NH_(2)(309.6 mg∙g^(‒1)(T=25℃,pH=3)).Through the analysis of adsorption kinetics and isotherms,the adsorption for rose bengal is mainly suitable for the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Freundlich ***,the relevant research revealed that the main adsorption mechanism of the composite was electrostatic interaction,hydrogen bonding andπ–π***,the approach depicts an efficient model for integrating metal-organic frameworks on cellulose nanofibers to improve metal-organic framework recovery performance with potentially broad applications.

In the past few decades,the dangers of mycosis have caused widespread *** the development of the sequencing technology,the effective analysis of fungal sequencing data has become a *** the gradual increase of fungal sequencing data,there is now a lack of sufficient approaches for the identification and functional annotation of fungal chromosomal *** overcome this challenge,this paper firstly deals with the approaches of the identification and annotation of fungal genomes based on short and long reads sequenced by using multiple platforms such as Illumina and *** this paper develops an automated bioinformatics pipeline called PFGI for the identification and annotation *** experimental evaluation on a real-world dataset ENA(European Nucleotide Archive)shows that PFGI provides a user-friendly way to perform fungal identification and annotation based on the sequencing data analysis,and could provide accurate analyzing results,accurate to the species level(97%sequence identity).

Interfacial Zn2+-solvation regulator towards reversible and stable Zn anode

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries （AZIBs） are fundamentally challenged by the instability of the electrode/electrolyte interface,predominantly due to irreversible zinc （Zn） deposition and hydrogen ***,the intricate mechanisms behind the electrochemical discrepancies induced by interfacial Zn2+-solvation and deposition behavior demand comprehensive *** molecules endowed with special functional groups （such as hydroxyl,carboxyl,etc.） have the potential to significantly optimize the solvation structure of Zn2+and regulate the interfacial electric double layer （EDL）.By increasing nucleation overpotential and decreasing interfacial free energy,these functional groups facilitate a lower critical nucleation radius,thereby forming an asymptotic nucleation model to promote uniform Zn ***,this study presents a pioneering approach by introducing trace amounts of n-butanol as solvation regulators to engineer the homogenized Zn （H-Zn） anode with a uniform and dense *** interfacial reaction and structure evolution are explored by in/ex-situ experimental techniques,indicating that the H-Zn anode exhibits dendrite-free growth,no by-products,and weak hydrogen evolution,in sharp contrast to the bare ***,the H-Zn anode achieves a remarkable Zn utilization rate of approximately 20% and simultaneously sustains a prolonged cycle life exceeding 500 ***,the H-Zn//NH4V4O10（NVO） full battery showcases exceptional cycle stability,retaining 95.04%capacity retention after 400 cycles at a large current density of 5 A *** study enlightens solvation-regulated additives to develop Zn anode with superior utilization efficiency and extended operational lifespan.

OPTIMAL PRICING STRATEGY TO REDUCE FUEL CONSUMPTION IN ELECTRICITY GENERATION WITH SMART METER

It has been widely recognized that the efficiency of a thermal power system can be improved by technological advancement of electricity generation and manipulation of electricity consumption. The smart meter enables two-way communication between the customers and the electricity generation system. The electricity generation system uses price incentive （i.e. a higher price in the peak period and a lower price in the off-peak period） to shift part of demands from peak to off-peak period under the smart grid environment. Given the fact that fuel consumption in each period is a strictly increasing convex function of power output, we propose two-period and multi-period pricing strategies, and study the effect of different pricing strategies on reducing fuel consumption.

Effects of finite-range tensor force onβ-decay of magic and semimagic nuclei of^(34)Si,^(68,78)Ni,and^(132)Sn have been investigated using the self-consistent Hartree–Fock plus random-phase approximation *** tensor force shifts the low-lying Gamow–Teller states downward and systematically improves the calculations of Q and logft ***,it systematically reduces the deviations between the theoretical and experimental data and significantly improves the calculation ofβ-decay *** effect is similar to that of zero-range tensor force.
