The mineralization is related closely to sedimentation, diagenesis and hydrothermal processes. In this paper, investigations are carried out on coal occurrence, maceral composition, inorganic minerals, trace elements and huminite reflectance. It is concluded that the source of Lincang superlarge deposit is mainly the muscovite granite in the west edge of the basin. During sedimentation, Ge (germanium) was leached out and entered the basin. Ge was adsorbed by lower organism and humic substances in water. Lincang lignite underwent three thermal processes: peatification, early diagenesis and hydrothermal transformation. During peatification, Ge was adsorbed or complexed by humic colloids. During early diagenesis, the Ge associated with humic acids was hard to mobilize or transport. Most of Ge entered the structure of huminite while a small amount of Ge was associated with residual humic acids as complex or humate. During hydrothermal transformation, the heated natural water or deep fluid from basement encountered the coal layer within tectonic weak zone. SO 2. 4 was reduced by coal organic matter. Pyrite and calcite formed. Hydrothermal process did not contribute significantly to mineralization.

Baiguoyuan silver-vanadium deposit is generally thought to be of sedimentary-diagenetic origin. Based on the characteristics of barites, it is suggested that hydrothermal transformation has been involved in mineralization. The barites in black shale can be grouped into irregular ones which were formed during early diagenesis and tabular ones which were formed during late diagenesis. The tabular barites are replaced by pyrite and have formed a regular girdle around them. PIXE analysis states that Ag is greatly concentrated in pyrite replacement girdle. The girdle is the product of hydrothermal transformation. The transformation is one of the main mineralization stages of Baiguoyuan deposit.

Based on the organic geochemical studies on two typical Carlin-type deposits in southwestern Guizhou, as well as the comparison between the two deposits in terms of geological background,igneous rock, paleo-oilfield, lithofacies and paleogeographical and geochemical features, two kinds of Carlin-type deposit were proposed: Lannigou Type and Getang Type. The former includes Lannigou,Banqi and Yata gold deposits. These deposits are hosted by turbidite, geographically situated in the southwest of the mineralized district, and related genetically to paleo-oilfields. The latter includes Getang, Zimudang and Dachang gold (mercury and thal{2.m) deposits, situated geographically in the northwest of the mineralized district where Emeishan basalt commonly occurs. These deposits are associated with reduction of coaly organic matter.

: By means of kerogen purification, the proton induced X-ray emission (PIXE) and instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA), the authors have studied the organic/inorganic occurrence modes of the metallic elements of the Baiguoyuan silver-vanadium deposit hosted in black shale in Hubei Province, China. The result shows that Au, Hg and Ta have a strong tendency to occur organically, with more than 70% of these elements being associated organically. Se, Ga, Ag and Hf are partly associated with organic matter, with more than 2.% of them occurring organically. Compared with the above elements, Zn, Cu, As and Sb are weakly associated organically, and tend to be enriched in kerogen. However, Mn, Th, U, V, Co, Cr, AI, Fe and Sc usually occur inorganically. Of the rare earth elements (REE), La, Ce, Tb, Dy, Yb and lu have stronger ability to be associated with organic matter than Sm and Eu.
