Spinel-type CuFe_(2)O_(4)nanoparticles were syn-thesized by a solvother-mal method using ethy-lene glycol as solvent and polyvinylpyrroli-done(PVP)as disper-sant.The characteriza-tion results showed that the average diameter of the hollow-spherical CuFe_(2)O_(4)was approximately 100 nm with homogeneous morphology and negligible agglomeration.CuFe_(2)O_(4)was used as the active electrode material to explore its su-percapacitive properties in different concentrations of KOH electrolytes.It was found that the CuFe_(2)O_(4)hollow-spherical nanoparticles exhibit potential electronic performance in superca-pacitor,with a specific capacitance of 368.2 F/g and capacitance stability retention of 91.0%after 2000 cycles at the current density of 5 A/g in 3 mol/L KOH electrolyte.The present findings demonstrate that the CuFe_(2)O_(4)electrode materials can have important implications with practical prospects in energy storage systems.

Reintroduction of captive-bred Chinese giant salamanders is a primary approach for restoring wild populations.Despite previous studies have investigated the habitat preferences of reintroduced Chinese giant salamanders,the intraspecific variation in their habitat selection has been neglected.In the present study,30 captive-bred Chinese giant salamanders belonging to 3 groups(i.e.,10 males,10 females,and 10 juveniles)were released into a montane stream to explore whether intraspecific variation in habitat selection occurred in this species using radiotelemetry.Our results indicated that linear home range and daily movement of males were significantly higher than those of females and juveniles.Male sedentariness was significantly lower than that of females and juveniles.No significant differences were detected between females and juveniles in these measures.Importantly,we found that males preferred microhabitats with low water conductivity and deep water depth.Females preferred microhabitats with high water conductivity,low dissolved oxygen and ammonium-nitrogen,and slow current velocity,while juveniles occupied microhabitats with low ammonium-nitrogen.In addition,males and juveniles exhibited higher niche breadth than females.Niche overlap was high between adults and juveniles but low between males and females.Our study revealed the presence of spatial segregation in reintroduced Chinese giant salamanders.Males,females,and juveniles exhibited variation in microhabitat selection.These results provide important information for use when planning strategies for conservation of Chinese giant salamanders.

This paper proposes a low-floor bit-mapping(LFBM) scheme for bit-interleaved coded modulation(BICM) systems to meet more stringent quality of service requirements of 5G and beyond. For highefficiency transmissions, we consider the 5G low-density parity-check codes with high-order 2m-quadrature amplitude modulations(QAMs). The proposed LFBM scheme overcomes plenty of trapping sets induced by the bit interleaver, which focuses on the waterfall performance too aggressively. When the high-order QAM is used, the row-column interleaver specified by the 5G standard is such a bit interleaver. The LFBM scheme only optimizes the rule of mapping an m-bit tuple output by the row-column interleaver to a modulation symbol, rather than the entire bit interleaver. Therefore, the optimized bit mapper is actually an m-bit permutation module concatenated with the original bit interleaver employed in the current 5G BICM systems.The simulation results confirm that the LFBM scheme can lower the error floor of the 5G BICM system by approximately two orders of magnitude, while with negligible performance loss in the waterfall region.

Enhanced activity of ZnS(111) by N/Cu co-doping:Accelerated degradation of organic pollutants under visible light

High-efficiency photocatalysts are of great significance for the application of photocatalytic technology in water treatment.In this study,N/Cu co-doped ZnS nanosphere photocatalys(N/Cu-ZnS) is synthesized by a hydrothermal method for the first time.After doping,the tex ture of nanosphere becomes loose,the nanometer diameter is reduced,making the specific surface area of catalyst increased from 34.73 to 101.59 m^(2)/g.The characterization results show that more ZnS (111) crystal planes are exposed by N/Cu co-doping;the calculations of density functional theory show that N/Cu co-doping can increase the catalytic activity of the ZnS (111) crystal plane,enhance the adsorption capacity of (111) crystal plane to O_(2)and promote the generation of·O_(2)-.The energy levels of the introduced impurities can be hybridized with the energy levels of S and Zn at the top of valence band and the bottom o conduction band,which makes the band gap narrower,thus enhancing the absorption o visible light.Compared with pure ZnS,the degradation rates of 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP and tetracycline (TC) by N/Cu-ZnS under visible light (>420 nm) are increased by 83.7 and51 times,respectively.In this research,a promising photocatalyst for photocatalytic degra dation of organic pollutants in wastewater is provided.

Synergistically coupling of graphene quantum dots with Zn-intercalated MnO2 cathode for high-performance aqueous Zn-ion batteries

Cost-effective,safe,and highly performing energy storage devices require rechargeable batteries,and among various options,aqueous zinc-ion batteries(ZIBs)have shown high promise in this regard.As a cathode material for the aqueous ZIBs,manganese dioxide(MnO_(2))has been found to be promising,but certain drawbacks of this cathode material are slow charge-transfer capability and poor cycling performance.Herein,a novel design of graphene quantum dots(GQDs)integrated with Zn-intercalated MnO_(2)nanosheets is put forward to construct a 3D nanoflower-like GQDs@ZnxMnO_(2)composite cathode for aqueous ZIBs.The synergistic coupling of GQDs modification with Zn intercalation provides abundant active sites and conductive medium to facilitate the ion/electron transmission,as well as ensure the GQDs@ZnxMnO_(2)composite cathode with enhanced charge-transfer capability and high electrochemical reversibility,which are elucidated by experiment results and in-situ Raman investigation.These impressive properties endow the GQDs@ZnxMnO_(2)composite cathode with superior aqueous Zn^(2+) storage capacity(~403.6 mAh·g^(−1)),excellent electrochemical kinetics,and good structural stability.For actual applications,the fabricated aqueous ZIBs can deliver a substantial energy density(226.8 W·h·kg^(−1)),a remarkable power density(650 W·kg^(−1)),and long-term cycle performance,further stimulating their potential application as efficient electrochemical storage devices for various energy-related fields.

Intercomparison of multi-model ensemble-processing strategies within a consistent framework for climate projection in China

Climate change adaptation and relevant policy-making need reliable projections of future climate.Methods based on multi-model ensemble are generally considered as the most efficient way to achieve the goal.However,their efficiency varies and inter-comparison is a challenging task,as they use a variety of target variables,geographic regions,time periods,or model pools.Here,we construct and use a consistent framework to evaluate the performance of five ensemble-processing methods,i.e.,multimodel ensemble mean(MME),rank-based weighting(RANK),reliability ensemble averaging(REA),climate model weighting by independence and performance(ClimWIP),and Bayesian model averaging(BMA).We investigate the annual mean temperature(Tav)and total precipitation(Prcptot)changes(relative to 1995–2014)over China and its seven subregions at 1.5 and 2℃warming levels(relative to pre-industrial).All ensemble-processing methods perform better than MME,and achieve generally consistent results in terms of median values.But they show different results in terms of inter-model spread,served as a measure of uncertainty,and signal-to-noise ratio(SNR).ClimWIP is the most optimal method with its good performance in simulating current climate and in providing credible future projections.The uncertainty,measured by the range of 10th–90th percentiles,is reduced by about 30%for Tav,and 15%for Prcptot in China,with a certain variation among subregions.Based on ClimWIP,and averaged over whole China under 1.5/2℃global warming levels,Tav increases by about 1.1/1.8℃(relative to 1995–2014),while Prcptot increases by about 5.4%/11.2%,respectively.Reliability of projections is found dependent on investigated regions and indices.The projection for Tav is credible across all regions,as its SNR is generally larger than 2,while the SNR is lower than 1 for Prcptot over most regions under 1.5℃warming.The largest warming is found in northeastern China,with increase of 1.3(0.6–1.7)/2.0(1.4–2.6)℃(ensemble’s median and range of the 10th–90th percentiles)under 1.5/2℃warmin

Workflow system has become a standard solution for managing a complex business process.How to guarantee its correctness is a key requirement.Many methods only focus on the control-flow verification,while they neglect the modeling and checking of data-flows.Although some studies are presented to repair the data-flow errors,they do not consider the effect of delete operations or weak circulation relations on the repairing results.What’s more,repairing some data-flow errors may bring in new errors.In order to solve these problems,we use workflow net with data(WFD-net)systems to model and analyze a workflow system.Based on weak behavioral relations and order relations in a WFD-net system,we formalize four kinds of data-flow errors.After then,we reveal the relations between these errors and organize them into a hierarchy.Furthermore,we propose some new methods to repair data-flow errors in a WFD-net system based on system requirements and repair strategies.Finally,a case study of campus-card recharging shows the applicability of our methods,and a group of experiments show their advantages and effectiveness.

Heterogeneous environment adaptation is critical to understand the species evolution and response to climate change.However,how narrow-range species adapt to micro-geographic heterogeneity has been overlooked,and there is a lack of insights from metabolism and commensal microbiota.Here,we studied the environmental adaptation for 3 geographic populations(>40 km apart)of Diploderma vela,a lizard endemic to dry-hot valleys of the Hengduan Mountain Region.The climatic boundary caused a cooler,droughtier,and barren environment for northernmost population(RM)than the middle(QZK)and southernmost populations(FS).Correspondingly,significant divergences in liver and muscle metabolism and commensal microbiota were detected between RM and QZK or FS individuals,but not between QZK and FS individuals.Phospholipid composition,coenzyme level(i.***.pyridoxal and NAD^(+)),and cholesterol metabolism(e.***.androgen and estriol synthesis)constituted the major metabolic difference between RM and QZK/FS groups.FS and QZK individuals kept abundant Proteobacteria and antifungal strains,while RM individuals maintained more Firmicutes and Bacteroidota.Strong associations existed between varied host metabolite and gut microbes.How were these interpopulation variations associated to the environment adaptation were discussed.These results provided some novel insights into the environmental adaptation and implicated the consequence of climate change on narrow-range species.

Vertebrate life begins with fertilization,and then the zygote genome is activated after transient silencing,a process termed zygotic genome activation(ZGA).Despite its fundamental role in totipotency and the initiation of life,the precise mechanism underlying ZGA initiation remains unclear.The existence of minor ZGA implies the possible critical role of noncoding RNAs in the initiation of ZGA.Here,we delineate the expression profile of long noncoding RNAs(lncRNAs)in early mouse embryonic development and elucidate their critical role in minor ZGA.Compared with protein-coding genes(PCGs),lncRNAs exhibit a stronger correlation with minor ZGA.Distinct H3K9me3 profiles can be observed between lncRNA genes and PCGs,and the enrichment of H3K9me3 before ZGA might explain the suspended expression of major ZGA-related PCGs despite possessing PolII pre-configuration.Furthermore,we identified the presence of PolII-enriched MuERV-L around the transcriptional start site of minor ZGA-related lncRNAs,and these repeats are responsible for the activation of minor ZGA-related lncRNAs and subsequent embryo development.Our study suggests that MuERV-L mediates minor ZGA lncRNA activation as a critical driver between epigenetic reprogramming triggered by fertilization and the embryo developmental program,thus providing clues for understanding the regulatory mechanism of totipotency and establishing bona fide totipotent stem cells.
