We present a novel method for heightening the sensitivity of a prism coupler-based surface plasmon resonance(SPR)*** method is based on the total reflection prism made of BK7 glass combined with the Kretschmann geometry of theattenuated total reflection(ATR)*** to the conventional methods of prism coupler-based SPR,the novel method provides higher sensitivity to the measurement *** simulations show that the detection sensitivity to the refractive index(RI)of the sensor based on the novel approach has a strong dependence on the thickness of the metal *** RI resolution of the sensor is predicted to be 8×10^(-7)refractive index units(RIU)under the condition of optimum metal film *** novel method can leave out a precision angle rotation device in the angle modulation and it is unnecessary to adjust the acceptance angle of the light *** principal advantage of this method over other methods of light intensity modulation based on prism coupler-based SPR is high sensitivity,expediency to measure and application of long distances.

An electro-optical switch based on a plasmonic T-shaped waveguide structure with a double-teeth-shaped waveguide filled with 4-dimethylamino-N-methyl-4-stilbazolium tosylate is proposed and numerically *** Finite-difference time domain simulation results reveal that the structure can operate as a circuit switch by controlling the external voltages V1 and/or V_(2).The proposed structure can also operate as a variable optical attenuator,which can continuously attenuate the power of a light beam from 6 dB to 30 dB by an external electrical *** structure is of small size of a few hundred *** results may open a possibility to construct nanoscale high-density photonic integration circuits.

Toxic effects in terms of mitochondria and hereditary substances have been characterized in vitro for individual rare earth elements,while,the joint effects of mixed elements exposure in the population remain *** on the Occupational Chromate Exposure Dynamic Cohort of China,this study investigated the relationship between 15 blood rare earth elements(cerium,dysprosium,erbium,europium,gadolinium,holmium,lanthanum,lutetium,neodymium,praseodymium,samarium,terbium,thulium,yttrium,and ytterbium)and mitochondrial DNA copy number(MtDNACN)as well as peripheral blood lymphocyte micronucleus frequency(MNF).The elastic net was used to select elements highly correlated with effect indicators,whose dose-response relationships were further illustrated by restricted cubic *** kernel regressionwas employed to explore the combined effects of elements and the contributions of single *** results showed that most rare earth elementswere positively correlatedwith effect indicators,with yttrium showing the strongest association(β(95%CI):0.139(0.1089–0.189)for MtDNACN,0.937(0.345–1.684)for MNF).In the mixed exposure model,with the exposure level fixed at the 50th percentile as the reference,the effect estimates on MtDNACN and MNF increased by 0.228 and 0.598 units,respectively,at the 75th *** single effect analysis implied that yttrium,lanthanum and terbium contributed the most to the elevation of MtDNACN,while yttrium posed the highest risk for genetic damage,accordingly,we provided recommendations to prioritize these elements of *** addition,we observed a chief mediating effect of MtDNACN on the elevation of MNF caused by lanthanum,whereas further mechanistic exploration is required to confirm this finding.

People-centric activity recognition is one of the most critical technologies in a wide range of real-world applications,including intelligent transportation systems, healthcare services, and brain-computer interfaces. Large-scale data collection and annotation make the application of machine learning algorithms prohibitively expensive when adapting to new tasks. One way of circumventing this limitation is to train the model in a semi-supervised learning manner that utilizes a percentage of unlabeled data to reduce the labeling burden in prediction tasks. Despite their appeal, these models often assume that labeled and unlabeled data come from similar distributions, which leads to the domain shift problem caused by the presence of distribution gaps. To address these limitations, we propose herein a novel method for people-centric activity recognition,called domain generalization with semi-supervised learning(DGSSL), that effectively enhances the representation learning and domain alignment capabilities of a model. We first design a new autoregressive discriminator for adversarial training between unlabeled and labeled source domains, extracting domain-specific features to reduce the distribution gaps. Second, we introduce two reconstruction tasks to capture the task-specific features to avoid losing information related to representation learning while maintaining task-specific consistency. Finally, benefiting from the collaborative optimization of these two tasks, the model can accurately predict both the domain and category labels of the source domains for the classification task. We conduct extensive experiments on three real-world sensing datasets. The experimental results show that DGSSL surpasses the three state-of-the-art methods with better performance and generalization.

In this paper,low-temperature dielectric-blocked discharge plasma （DBD） was employed for the first time to treat silica-doped H4PMo11VO40（HPAV） catalysts (DBD（Ar/x）-MF-Catal) and apply them in the catalytic methacrolein （MAL） selective oxidation to produce methacrylic acid （MAA）.This work investigates in detail the controllable regulation of the concentration of oxidation states on silica-doped HPAV catalysts by adjusting the DBD discharge with controlled changes in voltage,current,treatment time,and treatment *** reports the intrinsic correlation between oxidation states and MAL oxidation *** research results indicated that the catalytic performance was related to the presence of oxygen vacancies and oxygen species (VO2+),and are the main reason for the selective oxidation of MAL to ***,the generation of oxygen vacancies and VO2+altered localized electrons,which resulted in the easier activation of *** calculations of DFT also proved the formation mechanism of oxygen vacancies and VO2+and electron properties on high-performance polymers,which elucidated the intrinsic influence of catalyst *** DBD（Ar/10）-MF-Catal catalysts with suitable VO2+and oxygen vacancy concentrations exhibited the highest catalytic performance with 90%MAL conversion and 70%MAA selectivity and showed good stability （500 h）.

Internal solitary waves in the Shenhu continental shelf slope break zone of the northern South China Sea generate benthic storms

Internal solitary waves can generate intense bottom currents and turbulent mixing over continental slopes, influencing the redistribution of sediments and pollutants, as well as driving changes in marine geomorphology and ecosystems. However,owing to the lack of detailed quantitative measurements of the bottom boundary layer, the mechanisms and impacts of internal solitary waves in resuspending and transporting seafloor sediments remain poorly understood. In this study, we present highresolution in situ observations of hydrodynamics in the upper layer(14–265 m) and the bottom boundary layer(<1 m) in the continental shelf slope break zone. Our results reveal that strongly nonlinear internal solitary waves, which occur at the peak of semidiurnal tidal currents, trigger benthic storms at the seafloor. Unlike previously proposed global instability mechanisms, the suspended sediment concentration caused by these strongly nonlinear internal solitary waves reaches 60 times higher than the background value and exhibits sudden, transient peaks. The bottom shear stress(τ) is an order of magnitude greater than that in laboratory measurements, and the observed fluctuating pressure is approximately 2.3 to 7 times greater than that in previous coastal observations. The sediments stirred by benthic storms are transported vertically to more than 100 m above the seabed,with lateral transport extending tens of kilometres beyond the study area. This process is driven by the dynamic mechanism of“strongly nonlinear internal solitary waves lifting sediments, weakly nonlinear internal solitary waves assisted by internal tides,and contour currents transporting sediments.” The suspended sediment flux induced by internal solitary waves in the South China Sea is on the same order of magnitude as that of global dust storm emissions, 21.9 times the volume of Asian dust storms entering the sea, and approximately 21 times the fluvial sediment flux entering the northern South China Sea.
