Self-assembled aerogel sheet electrodes of thermocells for low-grade heat harvest

Efficiently harvesting low-grade heat is crucial for sustainable energy management. Thermocells(TECs), inducing heat-toelectricity conversion via the thermogalvanic effect, have thus drawn tremendous attention in recent years. This study introduces a self-assembly approach for fabricating aerogel sheet electrodes(ASEs) tailored for TECs. The crafted ASEs retain a remarkable porous architecture with approximately 95% porosity, even with their slimmed-down thickness. Results reveal that the electrode composition has minimal influence on the thermopower of TECs. Notably, the porous ASE with tunned composition demonstrates an optimal effective surface area for the thermogalvanic effect, resulting in enhanced output current density. This balances the desirable traits of electrode compactness with abundant redox active sites, positioning it favorably against conventional bulky electrode designs. The TECs utilizing the optimized ASE achieve a peak output power of 22.10 μW cm^(-2)under a temperature difference of 30 K. Furthermore, a tubular TEC device is readily assembled and specially designed for harvesting heat energy from hot fluids. These findings underscore the potential of composite electrodes in the realm of low-grade heat harvest, paving the way for broader applications in sustainable energy solutions.

The high content of aluminum(Al)impurity in the recycled cathode powder seriously affects the extraction efficiency of Nickel,Cobalt,Manganese,and lithium resources and the actual commercial value of recycled materials,so Al removal is crucially important to conform to the industrial standard of spent li-ion battery cathode *** this work,we systematically investigated the leaching process and optimum conditions associated with Al removal from the cathode powder materials collected in a wet cathode-powder peeling and recycling production line of spent li-ion batteries(liBs).Moreover,we specifically studied the leaching of fluorine(F)synergistically happened along with the removal process of Al,which was not concerned about in other studies,but one of the key factors affecting pollution prevention in the recovery *** mechanism of the whole process including the leaching of Al and F from the cathode powder was indicated by using NMR,FTIR,and XPS,and a defluoridation process was preliminarily investigated in this *** leaching kinetics of Al could be successfully described by the shrinking core model,controlled by the diffusion process and the activation energy was 11.14 kJ/***,the leaching of F was attributed to the dissolution of liPF6and decomposition of PVDF,and the kinetics associated was described by Avrami *** interaction of Al and F is advantageous to realize the defluoridation to some *** is expected that our investigation will provide theoretical support for the large-scale recycling of spent liBs.

Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction(DMI)is the key ingredient of chiral spintronic phenomena and the emerging technologies based on such phenomena.A nonzero DMI usually occurs at magnetic interfaces or within non-centrosymmetric single ***,we report the observation of a strong unexpected DMI within a centrosymmetric polycrystalline ferromagnet that has neither a crystal inversion symmetry breaking nor a composition *** DMI is a bulk effect,increases with the thickness of the magnetic layer,and is insensitive to the symmetry of the interfaces or the neighboring *** observe a total DMI strength that is a factor of>2 greater than the highest interfacial DMI in the *** DMI most likely arises from the strong spin-orbit coupling,strong orbital hybrization,and a“hidden”long-range asymmetry in the *** discovery of the strong unconventional bulk DMI in centrosymmetric,composition-uniform magnetic single layers provides fundamental building blocks for the emerging field of spintronics and will stimulate the exploitation of unconventional spin-orbit phenomena in a wide range of materials.

The ever-growing energy demand and environmental issues have stimulated the development of sustainable energy ***,an efficient and environmentally friendly electrochemical transformation technology was proposed to prepare highly graphitized carbon materials from an abundant natural resource-lignin （LG）.The preparation process mainly includes pyrolytic carbonization of raw LG material and electrochemical conversion of amorphous carbon ***,with the assistance of Co catalyst,the graphitization degree of the products was significantly improved,in which the mechanism was the removal of heteroatoms in LG and the rearrangement of carbon atoms into graphite ***,tunable microstructures （nanoflakes） under catalytic effects could also be observed by controlling the electrolytic *** with the products CN1 （without catalyst） and CN5 （with 10%catalyst）,the specific surface area are 158.957 and202.246 m2g-1,*** used as the electrode material for lithium-ion batteries,CN5 delivered a competitive specific capacity of～350 m Ah g-1（0.5 C） compared with commercial *** strategy proposed in this work provides an effective way to extract value-added graphite materials from lignin and can be extended to the graphitization conversion of any other amorphous carbon precursor materials.

Intrauterine adhesion is a major cause of female reproductive *** we and others uncontrolled pilot studies showed that treatment with autologous bone marrow stem cells made a few patients with severe intrauterine adhesion obtain live birth,no large sample randomized controlled studies on this therapeutic strategy in such patients have been reported so *** verify if the therapy of autologous bone marrow stem cells-scaffold is superior to traditional treatment in moderate to severe intrauterine adhesion patients in increasing their ongoing pregnancy rate,we conducted this randomized controlled clinical *** 195 participants with moderate to severe intrauterine adhesion were screened and 152 of them were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to either group with autologous bone marrow stem cells-scaffold plus Foley balloon catheter or group with only Foley balloon catheter(control group)from February 2016 to January *** per-protocol analysis included 140 participants:72 in bone marrow stem cells-scaffold group and 68 in control *** ongoing pregnancy occurred in 45/72(62.5%)participants in the bone marrow stem cells-scaffold group which was significantly higher than that in the control group(28/68,41.2%)(RR=1.52,95%CI 1.08–2.12,P=0.012).The situation was similar in live birth rate(bone marrow stem cells-scaffold group 56.9%(41/72)*** group 38.2%(26/68),RR=1.49,95%CI 1.04–2.14,P=0.027).Compared with control group,participants in bone marrow stem cells-scaffold group showed more menstrual blood volume in the 3rd and 6th cycles and maximal endometrial thickness in the 6th cycle after hysteroscopic *** incidence of mild placenta accrete was increased in bone marrow stem cells-scaffold group and no severe adverse effects were *** conclusion,transplantation of bone marrow stem cells-scaffold into uterine cavities of the participants with moderate to severe intrauterine adhesion increased their ongoing pregnancy and
