The magnetic stabilization flow regime could also be created forGeldart-Bnonmagnetizable particles pro-vided some magnetizable particles are introduced and the magnetic field is applied.This study aimed toexplore the size(d_(pM))and density(ρ_(pM))effects of magnetizable particles on its operating range.The upperlimit(Umb;)could not be determined from the △P_(b)-U_(g)↓curve but could from analyzing the variation of △P_(b)-fluctuation with increasing U_(g).Due to the variation of U_(mfH)(lower limit)with d_(pM) and ppw,both U_(mbH)-U_(mfH) and(U_(mbH)-U_(mfH))/U_(mfH) were used to quantify the operating range of magnetic stabilization.U_(mbH)-U_(mfH) varied hardly with ρ_(pM) but increased significantly with decreasing ρ_(pM).(U_(mbH)-U_(mfH))/U_(mfH)increased as d_(pM) or ρ_(pM) decreased.lt was more difficult for the nonmagnetizable particles to escape fromthe network formed by the smaller/lighter magnetizable particles.For the same magnitude of change,dp had a stronger effect than ρ_(pM) on(U_(mbH)-U_(mfH))/U_(mfH).Neither U_(mbH)-U_(mfH) nor(U_(mbH)-U_(mfH):)/Uma variedmonotonously with the minimum fluidization velocity of the magnetizable particles,indicating that nostraightforward criterion for matching the magnetizable particles to the given nonmagnetizable particlescould be established based on their minimum fluidization velocities to maximize the operating range ofmagnetic stabilization.

Fabrication of micro-scale gratings for moiré method with a femtosecond laser

Fabrication of micro gratings using a femtosecond laser exposure system is experimentally investigated for the electron moire method. Micro holes and lines are firstly etched for parameter study. Grating profile is theoretically optimized to form high quality moire patterns. For a demonstration, a parallel grating is fabricated on a specimen of quartz glass. The minimum line width and the distance between two adjacent lines are both set to be 1 μm, and the frequency of grating is 500 lines/ram. The experimental results indicate that the quality of gratings is good and the relative error of the gratings pitch is about 1.5%. Based on molte method, scanning electron microscope （SEM） moire patterns are observed clearly, which manifests that gratings fabricated with the femtosecond laser exposure is suitable for micro scale deformation measurement.

Ulcerative colitis(UC)is a chronic,non-specific intestinal disease that not only affects the quality of life of patients and their families but also increases the risk of colorectal cancer.The nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor family pyrin domain-containing protein 3(NLRP3)inflammasome is an important component of inflammatory response system,and its activation induces an inflammatory cascade response that is involved in the development and progression of UC by releasing inflammatory cytokines,damaging intestinal epithelial cells,and disrupting the intestinal mucosal barrier.Chinese medicine(CM)plays a vital role in the prevention and treatment of UC and is able to regulate NLRP3 inflammasome.Many experimental studies on the regulation of NLRP3 inflammasome mediated by CM have been carried out,demonstrating that CM formulae with main effects of clearing heat,detoxifying toxicity,drying dampness,and activating blood circulation.Flavonoids and phenylpropanoids can effectively regulate NLRP3 inflammasome.Other active components of CM can interfere with the process of NLRP3 inflammasome assembly and activation,leading to a reduction in inflammation and UC symptoms.However,the reports are relatively scattered and lack systematic reviews.This paper reviews the latest findings regarding the NLRP3 inflammasome activation-related pathways associated with UC and the potential of CM in treating UC through modulation of NLRP3 inflammasome.The purpose of this review is to explore the possible pathological mechanisms of UC and suggest new directions for development of therapeutic tools.

Fluorescence imaging can provide valuable information on the expression,distribution,and activity of drug target proteins.Chemical probes are useful small-molecule tools for fluorescence imaging with high structural flexibility and biocompatibility.In this review,we briefly introduce two classes of fluorescent probes for the visualization of drug target proteins.Enzymatically activatable probes make use of the specific enzymatic transformations that generally produce a fluorogenic response upon reacting with target enzymes.Alternatively,specific imaging can be conferred with a ligand that drives the probes to target proteins,where the labeling relies on noncovalent binding,covalent inhibition,or traceless labeling by ligand-directed chemistry.

Influence of shock attenuation on tailored operation in free piston shock tunnels

The free piston shock tunnel is a type of shock tunnel with high performance. For this type of tunnel, the influence mechanism of shock wave attenuation on tailored operation is explored by numerical simulation and theoretical analysis. By introducing the normalized velocity, the simple constraint equation for shock wave under the tailored operation is deduced. Moreover, the real gas effect is also taken into account in this equation. Based on the equation, the tailored operation of shock tunnels can be predicted with very few calculations. The present study shows that the change rate of the thermodynamic state of the gas behind the shock wave is inconsistent with the attenuation rate of the shock wave, which is the fundamental reason why the wind tunnel achieves tailored operation at a lower Mach number of shock waves. This lower Mach number of shock waves differs from the corresponding ideal value by a factor, which is about the square root of shock attenuation rate.

Design reliability and robustness are getting increasingly important for the general design of aerospace systems with many inherently uncertain design parameters.This paper presents a hybrid uncertainty-based design optimization（UDO） method developed from probability theory and interval theory.Most of the uncertain design parameters which have sufficient information or experimental data are classified as random variables using probability theory,while the others are defined as interval variables with interval theory.Then a hybrid uncertainty analysis method based on Monte Carlo simulation and Taylor series interval analysis is developed to obtain the uncertainty propagation from the design parameters to system responses.Three design optimization strategies,including deterministic design optimization（DDO）,probabilistic UDO and hybrid UDO,are applied to the conceptual design of a hybrid rocket motor（HRM） used as the ascent propulsion system in Apollo lunar module.By comparison,the hybrid UDO is a feasible method and can be effectively applied to the general design of aerospace systems.

●We studied the effect of nitrogen and biochar on CO_(2) emission from SOC and SIC.●Nitrogen increased SIC-derived CO_(2) by 41%but decreased SOC-derived CO_(2) by 20%.●Biochar reduced total soil-derived CO_(2) by neutralizing nitrogen-induced acidity.●We proposed a method for 3-or 4-source partitioning CO_(2) emission from calcareous soils.Biochar addition generally increases the alkalinity regeneration to resist soil acidification driven by nitrogen(N)fertilization.Calcareous soils contain soil organic carbon(SOC)and inorganic C(SIC).Owing to technical limitations in three-source partitioning CO_(2),how biochar addition affects SOC-and SIC-derived CO_(2) emission has not been clarified yet.Therefore,we conducted a 70-day incubation experiment of ammonium-N and maize-straw-derived biochar additions to investigate the N plus biochar impacts on SOC-and SIC-derived CO_(2) emission.Over the 70-day incubation,we found that the N-only addition increased the SIC-derived CO_(2) emission by approximately 41%compared with the control,but decreased the SOC-derived CO_(2) emission by approximately 20%.This suggests that the distinct responses of SIC-and SOC-derived CO_(2) emission to N-only addition come from N-induced acidification and preferential substrate(N)utilization of soil microorganisms,respectively.Compared with N-only addition,N plus biochar addition decreased the SIC-derived CO_(2) emission by 17%−20%during the first 20 days of incubation,but increased it by 54%during the next 50 days.This result suggested that biochar addition reduced the SIC-derived CO_(2) emission likely due to the alkalization capacity of biochar exceeding the acidification capacity of ammonium-N in the short term,but it may increase the SIC-derived CO_(2) emission induced by the weak acidity produced from biochar mineralization in the long term.This study is helpful to improve the quantification of CO_(2) emission from calcareous soils.

In this paper,we propose and investigate a delayed diffusive predator-prey model affected by toxic substances.We first study the boundedness and persistence property of the model.By analyzing the associated characteristic equation,we obtain the conditions for the existence of steady state bifurcation,Hopf bifurcation and Turing bifurcation.Furthermore,we also study the Hopf bifurcation induced by the delay.Finally,our theoretical results are verified by numerical simulation.The numerical observation results are in good agreement with the theoretically predicted results.Theoretical and numerical simulations indicate that toxic substances have a great impact on the dynamics of the system.
