Some structures of digital quadrature AD conversion for soft-ware-defined radio （SDR） systems are studied. Their performances and affections on the SDR systems are also analyzed. Two generalized quadrature AD schemes are proposed. In one of them, the AD sampling speed can be reduced by 2 times; and in the other both the output data rate of every channel and AD sampling speed can be lowered by paralleling the digital quadrature filtering structure. These structures can be also easily implemented into modules, and the polyphase filters can be flexibly realized by VHDL language based one chip of FPGA. To assess the proposed schemes, their applications to a particular ultra wideband （UWB） demonstrative receiver system are introduced. Some experimental results are also given. It is shown that the generalized quadrature AD structures are reliable and feasible for its module design, and performances are improved obviously for its better performance to price ratio.

Soil hydraulic conductivity as affected by vegetation restoration age on the Loess Plateau,China

The Loess Plateau of China has experienced extensive vegetation restoration in the past several decades, which leads to great changes in soil properties such as soil bulk, porosity, and organic matter with the vegetation restoration age. And these soil properties have great effect on the soil infiltration and soil hydraulic conductivity. However, the potential changes in soil hydraulic conductivity caused by vegetation restoration age have not been well understood. This study was conducted to investigate the changes in soil hydraulic conductivity under five grasslands with different vegetation restoration ages （3, 10, 18, 28 and 37 years） compared to a slope farmland, and further to identify the factors responsible for these changes on the Loess Plateau of China. At each site, accumulative infiltration amount and soil hydraulic conductivity were determined using a disc permeameter with a water supply pressure of -20 mm. Soil properties were measured for analyzing their potential factors influencing soil hydraulic conductivity. The results showed that the soil bulk had no significant changes over the initial 20 years of restoration （P〉0.05）; the total porosity, capillary porosity and field capacity decreased significantly in the grass land with 28 and 37 restoration ages compared to the slope farmland; accumulative infiltration amount and soil hydraulic conductivity were significantly enhanced after 18 years of vegetation restoration. However, accumulative infiltration amount and soil hydraulic conductivity fluctuated over the initial 10 years of restoration. The increase in soil hydraulic conductivity with vegetation restoration was closely related to the changes in soil texture and structure. Soil sand and clay contents were the most influential factors on soil hydraulic conductivity, followed by bulk density, soil porosity, root density and crust thickness. Reverberation is significant in shallow water and produces obvious notches in OBC spec- tra. It also degrades the quality of sections and increases the difficulty of processing and interpretation. This article presents the relationship between notch, shooting depth, and seabed depth based on the seismic convolution model. Forward modelling based on wave equation theory is used to verify this relationship. Dual-sensor summation is applied to suppress receiver-side multiples and remove notches according to the opposite response of geophones and hydrophones to down-going wave fields based on a detailed analysis of the OBC technique. The good results obtained in practical applications reveal the effectiveness of this method.

Although many of the first-generation Digital Earth systems have proven to be quite useful for the modeling and visualization of geospatial objects relevant to the Earth＇s surface and near-surface, they were not designed for the purpose of modeling and application in geological or atmospheric space. There is a pressing need for a new Digital Earth system that can process geospatial information with full dimensionality. In this paper, we present a new Digital Earth system, termed SolidEarth, as an alternative virtual globe for the modeling and visualization of the whole Earth space including its surface, interior, and exterior space. SolidEarth consists of four functional components： modeling in geographical space, modeling in geological space, modeling in atmo- spheric space, and, integrated visualization and analysis. SolidEarth has a comprehensive treatment to the third spatial dimension and a series of sophisticated 3D spatial analysis functions. Therefore, it is well-suited to the volumetric representation and visual analysis of the inner/ outer spheres in Earth space. SolidEarth can be used in a number of fields such as geoscience research and education, the construction of Digital Earth applications, and other professional practices of Earth science.

Satellite remote sensing of volcanic ash cloud in complicated meteorological conditions

Volcanic ash cloud has serious impacts on *** volcanic ash dispersion,it also has a profound and long-term impact on climate and the environment.A new volcanic ash cloud detecting method (SWIR-TIR Volcanic Ash method,STVA) is presented that uses satellite images of Medium Resolution Spectral Imager (MERSI) and Visible and Infrared Radiometer (VIRR) on board the second generation Polar-Orbiting meteorological satellite of China (FY-3A).STVA is applied in detecting Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano *** with the traditional Split Window Temperature Difference method (SWTD),the results show that STVA is more sensitive to volcanic ash cloud than SWTD and can fairly extract volcanic ash information from the background of meteorological cloud and the *** Radiance Index (ARI) and Absorbing Aerosol Index (AAI) derived from Metop-A satellite images are used to validate the performance of *** is shown that STVA provides similar results with ARI and ***-3A/MERSI,VIRR and Terra /MODIS data are used to test STVA and *** is demonstrated that STVA derived from FY-3A satellite data is more effective in complicated meteorological *** study shows great potential of using China's own new generation satellite data in future global volcanic ash cloud monitoring operation.
