Objective: To investigate the changes of.scavenger re-cep.or （SR） and CD14 in Kup.f.r cells in endotox-emia in order to uncover the mechanism of.the liverto turn a def.nse organ into ef.ector one in ***: Mouse models of.endotoxemia of.dif.erentseverity were rep.oduced by injection of.dif.erent do-ses of.lip.p.lysaccharide （Lp.） via the tail *** exp.ession of.SR and CD14 in the liver was as-sayed by immunohistochemistry and was subsequent-ly analyzed with an image analysis system. The levelsof.TNf.α and IL-6 in liver tissue were determinedwith ***: The exp.ession of.SR in the liver in the high-dose group.was markedly decreased one hour af.erinjection of.Lp., and also in the low-dose group.at 3hours. The exp.ession of.SR in the liver in the twogroup. was shown to be p.ogressively decreased withthe time p.olonged. There was signif.cant dif.erencein average op.ical density （OD） values of.SR be-tween the two group.. The exp.ession of.CD14 in thetwo group. was shown to be signif.cantly increasedone hour af.er injection of.Lp., and more signif.-cantly with the time p.olonged. But there was no sig-nif.cant dif.erence in OD values of.CD14 between thetwo group.. The contents of.intrahep.tic p.oinf.am-matory mediators TNf.α, IL-6, ALT and TBILwere signif.cantly increased af.er injection of.*** analysis revealed that the changes of.Nf.α, IL-6, ALT, and TBIL were negatively cor-related with the exp.ession of.SR, and p.sitively withthe exp.ession of.CD14.Conclusion: The up.regnlation of.CD14 exp.essionand down-regulation of.SR exp.ession on Kup.f.rcells might be one of.the imp.rtant mechanisms f.rthe conversion of.Kup.f.r cells f.om immune def.n-sive to inf.ammatory resp.nse cells in acute hep.ticinjury.

Coal-f.red p.wer p.ants are a major carbon source in China. In order to assess the evaluation of.China’s carbon reduction p.ogress with the p.omise made on the p.ris Agreement, it is crucial to monitor the carbon f.ux intensity f.om coal-f.red p.wer p.ants. p.evious studies have calculated CO2 emissions f.om p.int sources based on Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2 and -3 (OCO-2 and OCO-3) satellite measurements, but the f.ctors af.ecting CO2 f.ux estimations are uncertain. In this study, we emp.oy a Gaussian p.ume Model to estimate CO2 emissions f.om three p.wer p.ants in China based on OCO-3 XCO2 measurements. Moreover, f.ux uncertainties resulting f.om wind inf.rmation, background values, satellite CO2 measurements, and atmosp.eric stability are discussed. This study highlights the CO2 f.ux uncertainty derived f.om the satellite measurements. f.nally, satellite-based CO2 emission estimates are comp.red to bottom-up.inventories. The satellite-based CO2 emission estimates at the Tuoketuo and Nongliushi p.wer p.ants are ∼30 and ∼10 kt d−1 smaller than the Op.n-Data Inventory f.r Anthrop.genic Carbon dioxide (ODIAC) resp.ctively, but ∼10 kt d−1 larger than the ODIAC at Baotou. © Institute of.Atmosp.eric p.ysics/Chinese Academy of.Sciences, and Science p.ess 2024.

An innovative microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) natural f.bre p.wder-reinf.rced p.A biocomp.site was investigated using the hand lay-up.technique. The p.lymer matrix comp.site (p.C) samp.es were p.ep.red by varying the weight p.rcentages (wt.%) of.both p.A matrix and MCC reinf.rcement: p.re p.A/100:0, 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, 60:40 and 50:50 wt.%, resp.ctively. f.om the results obtained, MCC p.wder, with its imp.essive asp.ct ratio, p.oved to be an ideal reinf.rcement f.r the p.A, exhibiting excep.ional mechanical p.op.rties. It was evident that the 80:20 wt.% biocomp.site samp.e exhibited the maximum imp.ovement in the tensile, f.exural, notched imp.ct, comp.essive strength and hardness by 28.85%, 20.00%, 91.66%, 21.53% and 35.82%, resp.ctively comp.red to the p.re p.A samp.e. Similarly, during the thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), the same 80:20 wt.% biocomp.site samp.e showed a minimum weight loss of.20% at 400°C, among others. The morp.ological study using f.eld Emission Scanning Electron Microscop. (f.-SEM) revealed that the unif.rm distribution of.cellulose reinf.rcement in the p.A matrix actively imp.oved the mechanical p.op.rties of.the biocomp.sites, esp.cially the op.imal 80:20 wt.% samp.e. Imp.rtantly, it was evident that the op.imal p.A/cellulose biocomp.site samp.e could be a suitable and alternative sustainable, environmentally f.iendly and biodegradable material f.r semi/structural ap.lications, rep.acing synthetic and traditional comp.nents. © 2024 The Authors.

Mechanisms to exp.ain soil liquef.ction triggering, develop.ent, and p.rsistence during an earthquake

Mechanisms have been p.op.sed to exp.ain the triggering, develop.ent, and p.rsistence of.soil liquef.ction. The mechanism exp.aining the horizontal f.ilure p.ane (triggering) and its dep.h below the p.reatic surf.ce is governed by the f.ux p.op.rties and ef.ective stress at that p.ane. At the f.ilure p.ane, the p.re water p.essure was higher than the ef.ective stress, and the volume change was the highest. The p.re water p.essure is a f.nction of.the soil p.of.le f.atures (p.rticularly the p.reatic zone width) and bedrock motion (horizontal acceleration). The volume change at the f.ilure p.ane is a f.nction of.the intrinsic p.rmeability of.the soil and bedrock disp.acement. The f.ilure p.ane was p.edicted to occur during the oscillation with the highest amp.itude, disregarding f.rther bedrock motion, which was consistent with low seismic energy densities. Two mechanisms were p.op.sed to exp.ain the p.rsistence of.soil liquef.ction. The f.rst is the existence of.low-p.rmeability layers in the dep.h range in which the f.ilure p.anes are p.edicted to occur. The other allows f.r the p.rsistence and develop.ent of.soil liquef.ction; it is consistent with homogeneous soils and requires water inf.ow f.om bedrock water sp.ings. The latter exp.ains many of.the f.atures of.soil liquef.ction observed during earthquakes, namely, surf.cial ef.ects, “instant” liquef.ction, and the occurrence of.short- and long-term changes in the level of.the p.reatic surf.ces. This model (hyp.thesis), the relationship.between the f.ux characteristics and loss of.soil shear strength, p.ovides self.consistent constraints on the dep.h below the p.reatic surf.ces where the f.ilure p.anes are observed (exp.cted to occur). It requires f.rther exp.rimental and observational evidence. Similar reasoning can be used to exp.ain other saturated soil p.enomena. © 2023 The Authors

We examine electron kinetic ef.ects in broadband-laser-driven back-stimulated Raman scattering(BSRS)bursts using p.rticle-in-cell *** bursts occur during the nonlinear stage,causing ref.ectivity sp.kes and generating large numbers of.hot ***-duration simulations are p.rf.rmed to observe burst events,and a simp.if.ed model is develop.d to eliminate the interf.rence of.the broadband laser’s random intensity *** the simp.if.ed model,we isolate and characterize the sp.ctrum of.electron p.asma *** sp.ctrum changes f.om a sideband structure to a turbulence-like structure during the burst.A signif.cant asymmetry in the sp.ctrum is *** asymmetry is amp.if.ed and transf.rred to electron p.ase sp.ce by high-intensity broadband laser p.lses,leading to violent vortex-merging and generation of.hot *** p.op.rtion of.hot electrons increases f.om 6.76%to 14.7%during a single violent burst *** demonstrate that kinetic ef.ects p.of.undly inf.uence the BSRS evolution driven by broadband lasers.

The generation of.ultrashort high-p.wer light sources in the mid-inf.ared(mid-IR)to terahertz(THz)range is of.interest f.r ap.lications in a number of.f.elds,f.om f.ndamental research to biology and *** conventional laser technology,p.oton deceleration in p.asma wakes p.ovides an alternative ap.roach to the generation of.ultrashort mid-IR or THz ***,we p.esent a p.oton deceleration scheme f.r the ef.icient generation of.ultrashort mid-IR or THz p.lses by using an intense driver laser p.lse with a relatively short wavelength and a signal laser p.lse with a relatively long *** signal p.lse trails the driver p.lse with an ap.rop.iate time delay such that it sits at the f.ont of.the second wake bubble that is driven by the driver *** to its relatively long wavelength,the signal p.lse will be subjected to a large gradient of.the ref.active index in the p.asma wake ***,the p.oton deceleration in the p.asma wake becomes f.ster and more ef.icient f.r signal p.lses with longer *** greatly enhances the cap.city and ef.iciency of.p.oton deceleration in the generation of.ultrashort high-p.wer light sources in the long-wavelength IR and THz sp.ctral ranges.

The high content of.aluminum(Al)imp.rity in the recycled cathode p.wder seriously af.ects the extraction ef.iciency of.Nickel,Cobalt,Manganese,and Lithium resources and the actual commercial value of.recycled materials,so Al removal is crucially imp.rtant to conf.rm to the industrial standard of.sp.nt Li-ion battery cathode *** this work,we systematically investigated the leaching p.ocess and op.imum conditions associated with Al removal f.om the cathode p.wder materials collected in a wet cathode-p.wder p.eling and recycling p.oduction line of.sp.nt Li-ion batteries(LIBs).Moreover,we sp.cif.cally studied the leaching of.f.uorine(f.synergistically hap.ened along with the removal p.ocess of.Al,which was not concerned about in other studies,but one of.the key f.ctors af.ecting p.llution p.evention in the recovery *** mechanism of.the whole p.ocess including the leaching of.Al and f.f.om the cathode p.wder was indicated by using NMR,f.IR,and Xp.,and a def.uoridation p.ocess was p.eliminarily investigated in this *** leaching kinetics of.Al could be successf.lly described by the shrinking core model,controlled by the dif.usion p.ocess and the activation energy was 11.14 kJ/***,the leaching of.f.was attributed to the dissolution of.Lip.6and decomp.sition of.p.Df.and the kinetics associated was described by Avrami *** interaction of.Al and f.is advantageous to realize the def.uoridation to some *** is exp.cted that our investigation will p.ovide theoretical sup.ort f.r the large-scale recycling of.sp.nt LIBs.
