Changes in global land surface frozen ground and freeze-thaw processes during 1950-2020 based on ERA5-Land data

Frozen ground(FG)plays an important role in global and regional climates and environments through changes in land freeze-thaw processes,which have been conducted mainly in different ***,the changes in land surface freeze-thaw processes under climate change on a global scale are still *** on ERA5-Land hourly land skin temperature data,this study evaluated changes in the global FG area,global land surface first freeze date(FFD),last freeze date(LFD)and frost-free period(FFP)from 1950 to *** results show that the current FG areas(1991-2020 mean)in the Northern Hemisphere(NH),Southern Hemisphere(SH),and globe are 68.50×10^(6),9.03×10^(6),and 77.53×10^(6)km^(2),which account for 72.4%,26.8%,and 60.4%of the exposed land(excluding glaciers,ice sheets,and water bodies)in the NH,SH and the globe,respectively;further,relative to 1951-1980,the FG area decreased by 1.9%,8.8%,and 2.8%,*** FG at lower latitudes degrades to intermittently FG,and intermittently FG degrades to non-frozen ground,which caused the global FG boundary to retreat to higher latitudes from 1950 to *** annual FG areas in the NH,SH,and globe all show significant decreasing trends(p<0.05)from 1950 to 2020 at-0.32×10^(6),-0.22×10^(6),and-0.54×10^(6)km^(2)per decade,*** FFP prolongation in the NH is mainly influenced by LFD advance,while in the SH it is mainly controlled by FFD *** prolongation trend of FFP in the NH(1.34 d per decade)is larger than that in the SH(1.15 d per decade).

Effect of salts on earthen materials deterioration after humidity cycling

Salt weathering leads to destruction of many valuable cultural heritage monuments and porous building material. The present study aims at providing more laboratory evidence for evaluating the effects of salt precipitation on the deterioration process. In view of this, the remoulded soil specimens were mixed with three kinds of salts(i.e., NaCl, Na_2SO_4 and their mixture) with different salt concentrations, and the specimens were kept in environment cabinet for undergoing different wet-dry cycles. After each cycle, the ultrasound velocity measurements were employed to monitor the deterioration process. For the specimens that have suffered three wet-dry cycles, the mechanical properties(i.e. shear strength and compression strength) were determined to evaluate the degree of deterioration. Furthermore, considering the realistic conservation environment of earthen sites, mechanical stability of these specimens against sediment-carrying wind erosion was conducted in a wind tunnel. These experiments results indicate that the overall average velocities of the specimens after the third cycle are significantly lower than those subjected to only one cycle. Ultrasound velocity, mechanical strength and wind erosion rate decrease when salt content increases. However, the internal friction angle increases firstly, and then decreases with the increase in salt content added to the specimens. Na_2SO_4 contributes most of the surface deterioration, while NaCl plays little role in the deterioration. The damage potential of the salt mixture is less obvious and largely dependent on the crystallisation location.

Pancreatic triglyceride lipase is involved in the virulence of the brown planthopper to rice plants

The brown planthopper(BPH),Nilaparvata lugens,an important rice insect pest,can enhance its virulence to BPH-resistant rice within as short a span as several ***,we cloned a pancreatic triglyceride lipase(PTL)gene(NlPTL)in ***,and found that its mRNA level was higher in the high virulence population(fed on variety Rathu Heenati,P-RH)than in the low virulence population(fed on variety Taichung Native 1,P-TN1).Knocking down NlPTL caused BPH individuals to spend more time in non-penetration and the pathway phases and less time feeding on the phloem of rice plants;these changes consequently decreased food intake,lipid content,survival rate,and fecundity in the *** findings reveal for the first time that PTL in BPH is involved in its virulence to rice plants.

We investigate kink-dark complex solitons(KDCSs)in a three-component Bose–Einstein condensate(BEC)with repulsive interactions and pair-transition(PT)*** profiles critically depend on the phase differences between dark solitons excitation *** report a type of kink-dark soliton profile which shows a droplet-bubble-droplet with a density dip,in sharp contrast to previously studied *** interaction between two KDCSs is further *** demonstrates some striking particle transition behaviours during their collision processes,while soliton profiles survive after the ***,we exhibit the state transition dynamics between a kink soliton and a dark *** results suggest that PT effects can induce more abundant complex solitons dynamics in multi-component BEC.

DEAR EDITOR,We examined the distribution,population,and conservation status of the critically endangered Myanmar or black snub-nosed monkey(Rhinopithecus strykeri)via field surveys over 26 months(2019-2021)in the Pianma region of the China-Myanmar *** to previous reports,we only identified one group in the region,which was a cross-border group occupying a multi-year home range of 51.50-57.02 km^(2).The current group size was much larger(155-160 individuals)than that in 2012-2014(ca 100 individuals),and the group appeared to be ***,confirmed poaching,mining,and transboundary forest fires on the Myanmar side of the border threaten their survival.

BACKGROUND Complicated crown-root fracture is considered a severe dental trauma and is unlikely to heal without ***,dentists have to remove the loose coronal fragment of the fractured tooth and treat the remaining part with multidisciplinary ***,we observed spontaneous healing of fracture in two pediatric cases with a history of complicated crown-root fractures over 4 years *** SUMMARY In case 1,a 12-year-old boy complained of pain at tooth 11 following an accidental fall 1 d *** examination showed a crack line on the crown of tooth *** beam computed tomography(CBCT)images of tooth 11 showed signs of hard tissue deposition between the fractured *** patient recalled that tooth 11 had struck the floor 1 year ago without seeking any other *** case 2,a 10-year-old girl fell down 1 d ago and wanted to have her teeth *** examination showed a fracture line on the crown of tooth *** images of tooth 21 also showed signs of hard tissue deposition between the fractured *** also had a history of dental trauma 1 year ago and her tooth 11 received dental treatment by another *** to her periapical radiograph at that time,tooth 21 was fractured 1 year ago and the fracture was overlooked by her *** of these two cases showed spontaneous healing of complicated crown-root *** over 4 years of follow-up,both fractured teeth showed no signs of *** These findings may provide new insights and perspectives on the management and treatment of crown-root fractures in children.

Chidamide,Decitabine,Cytarabine,Aclarubicin,and Granulocyte Colony-stimulating Factor Therapy for Patients with Relapsed/Refractory Acute Myeloid Leukemia:A Retrospective Study from a Single-Center

Objective Preclinical evidence and clinical trials have suggested synergistic effects of epigenetic modifiers in combination with cytotoxic agents for the treatment of ***,their efficacy in patients with relapsed/refractory acute myeloid leukemia(R/R AML)remains *** Clinical data of R/R AML patients who received a CDCAG regimen(chidamide,decitabine,cytarabine,aclarubicin,and granulocyte colony-stimulating factor)from July 1,2018 to October 31,2021 at our center were retrospectively assessed,and the safety and efficacy of the CDCAG regimen were *** were followed up until November 30,2021,with a median follow-up of 21.6 months(95%CI:10.0–33.2 months).Results A total of 67 patients were *** patients died within 3 weeks after the initiation,and therefore only 65 patients underwent the assement for clinical response and *** was found that 56.9%patients achieved complete remission with a median overall survival(OS)of 9.6 *** median OS of responders was 25.9 months,while that of non-responders was 5.0 months(P<0.0001).Patients with gene mutations had a superior overall response rate(ORR)(80.4%vs.45.5%,P=0.043)compared to those without gene *** presence of DNA methyltransferase 3 A(DNMT3A),ten-eleven translocation-2(TET2),and isocitrate dehydrogenase 1/2(IDH1/2)mutations did not affect the response rate(88.2%vs.68.9%,P=0.220)and reflected a better OS(not attained vs.9.0 months,P=0.05).The most common non-hematologic adverse events were pulmonary infection(73.1%),followed by febrile neutropenia(23.9%)and sepsis(19.4%).Conclusions The CDCAG regimen was effective and well-tolerated in R/R AML patients,increasing the potential for allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell ***,patients with DNMT3A,TET2,and IDH1/2 mutations might benefit from this regimen.
