Harnessing bacteria for tumor therapy:Current advances and challenges

After a century of standstill,bacteria-based tumor therapy has resurged recently benefiting from the revolution of tumor immunotherapy,which provides unique solutions to tackle the obstacles of traditional tumor *** and facultative anaerobes with active tropism can selectively colonize at tumor sites and suppress tumor growth via different mechanisms,serving as attractive tools for tumor treatment either as a monotherapy or combining with other therapies for synergistic anti-tumor *** this critical review,we introduce the recent advances of bacteria-based tumor therapy from the following ***,the general properties of bacteria are reviewed emphasizing on their structural components related to tumor immunotherapy,and the main bacteria that have been used in tumor therapy are ***,the benefits of bacteria for tumor therapy are illustrated,such as tumor targetability,deep penetration,and facile genetic engineering for attenuation,enhanced efficacy,as well as ***,anti-tumor mechanisms of bacteria are summarized,which refer to intrinsic tumoricidal activities,immune activation,bacteria metabolism,and their capability to regulate gut microbiota ***,bacteria could act as carriers to deliver various types of therapeutics to achieve combination therapy with improved *** addition,several challenges for anti-tumor applications of bacteria are discussed regarding the delivery,efficacy and safety issues,and potential solutions are also ***,the possible improvements and perspectives are discussed in the end,which provide a guideline for the design of advanced bacteria-based tumor therapeutics in the future.

Geological modeling of coalbed methane reservoirs in the tectonically deformed coal seam group in the Dahebian block,western Guizhou,China

The widely spread Carboniferous-Permian coal seam group in southern China has great potential for coalbed methane resources,but the extensively developed tectonically deformed coal seriously restricts its *** the Dahebian block in western Guizhou as the study area,the geological model of coalbed methane reservoirs in the tectonically deformed coal seam group was established,and the spatial distribution pattern of model parameters was clarified by clustering algorithms and factor *** facies model suggests that the main coal body structures in Nos.1,4,and 7 coal seams are cataclastic coal and granulated coal,whereas the No.11 coal seam is dominated by granulated coal,which has larger thicknesses and spreads more *** in situ permeability of primary undeformed coal,cataclastic coal,granulated coal,and mylonitized coal reservoirs are 0.333 mD,0.931 mD,0.146 mD,and 0.099 mD,respectively,according to the production performance analysis *** property model constructed by facies-controlled modeling reveals that Nos.1,4,and 7 coal seams have a wider high-permeability area,but the gas content is lower;the high-permeability area in the No.11 coal seam is more limited,but the gas content is *** results of the self-organizing map neural network and K-means clustering indicate that the geological model can be divided into 6 clusters,the model parameter characteristics of the 6 clusters are summarized by data analysis in combination with 6 factors extracted by factor analysis,and the application of data analysis results in multi-layer coalbed methane co-development is *** study provides ideas for the geological modeling in the tectonically deformed coal seam group and its data analysis.

Efficient photocatalytic NADH regeneration with Rh-loaded Z-scheme mediator-free system

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NADH)regeneration is necessary for the sustainable application of enzymatic *** Rh-based complex[Cp^(*)Rh(bpy)(H)]+has been widely used as an important mediator in NADH regeneration systems,but it is limited by complexity and high ***,a Z-scheme was constructed by loading Rh onto carbon nitride nanosheets/carbon nitride quantum dots(CN-CNQD).The resultant catalyst achieved a high yield of NADH in a mediator-free(M-free)system of 0.283 mmol L^(−1) g^(−1) min^(−1),which is 5.29 times that of pure *** enzyme introduction experiments confirmed that the enzyme active product 1,4-NADH could reach 34.21%selectivity in the M-free *** research revealed that the heterojunction between CNs and CNQDs improved the NADH regeneration activity in the traditional M-involved system,while Rh loading was proved to optimize the yield and selectivity of 1,4-NADH in M-free *** immobilized Rh shows more competitiveness than[Cp^(*)Rh(bpy)(H)]^(+).This study contributes to the construction of an M-free system for further application in greener,lower-cost enzymatic processes.

Citrus yellow vein clearing virus(CYVCV)is a new citrus virus that has become an important factor restricting the development of China’s citrus industry,and the CYVCV coat protein(CP)is associated with viral *** this study,the Eureka lemon zinc finger protein(ZFP)ClDOF3.4 was shown to interact with CYVCV CP in vivo and in *** expression of ClDOF3.4 in Eureka lemon induced the expression of salicylic acid(SA)-related and hypersensitive response marker genes,and triggered a reactive oxygen species burst,ion leakage necrosis,and the accumulation of free ***,the CYVCV titer in ClDOF3.4 transgenic Eureka lemon plants was approximately 69.4%that in control plants 6 mon after inoculation,with only mild leaf chlorotic spots observed in those transgenic *** together,the results indicate that ClDOF3.4 not only interacts with CP but also induces an immune response in Eureka lemon by inducing the SA *** is the first report that ZFP is involved in the immune response of a citrus viral disease,which provides a basis for further study of the molecular mechanism of CYVCV infection.

Image-Based Flow Prediction of Vocal Folds Using 3D Convolutional Neural Networks

In this work,a three dimensional(3D)convolutional neural network(CNN)model based on image slices of various normal and pathological vocal folds is proposed for accurate and efficient prediction of glottal *** 3D CNN model is composed of the feature extraction block and regression *** feature extraction block is capable of learning low dimensional features from the high dimensional image data of the glottal shape,and the regression block is employed to flatten the output from the feature extraction block and obtain the desired glottal flow *** input image data is the condensed set of 2D image slices captured in the axial plane of the 3D vocal folds,where these glottal shapes are synthesized based on the equations of normal vibration *** output flow data is the corresponding flow rate,averaged glottal pressure and nodal pressure distributions over the glottal *** 3D CNN model is built to establish the mapping between the input image data and output flow *** ground-truth flow variables of each glottal shape in the training and test datasets are obtained by a high-fidelity sharp-interface immersed-boundary *** proposed model is trained to predict the concerned flow variables for glottal shapes in the test *** present 3D CNN model is more efficient than traditional Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)models while the accuracy can still be retained,and more powerful than previous data-driven prediction models because more details of the glottal flow can be *** prediction performance of the trained 3D CNN model in accuracy and efficiency indicates that this model could be promising for future clinical applications.

Effective removal of Sb(V)from aqueous solutions by micro-electrolysis with composite scrap iron-manganese as filler

Micro-electrolysis(ME)technology is investigated for improving the efficiency of removal of pentavalent antimony(Sb(V))from the *** this study,an ME system composed of scrap iron filings,waste manganese fillings,and activated carbon(Fe-Mn-C ME)was used to efficiently remove Sb(V).The results proved that,compared with conventional iron-carbon micro-electrolysis(Fe-C ME),Fe-Mn-C ME significantly enhances the removal rate of Sb(V)when the hydraulic retention time is 10–24 *** Fe-Mn flocs produced by this system were analyzed using X-ray diffraction(XRD),energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET)surface area analysis,which revealed that the flocs were mostly Mn-substituted FeOOH and had a relatively larger specific surface area,providing better adsorption ***,it was found that the removal rate of Sb(V)decreased as the iron-carbon mass ratio increased,while it first increased and then decreased as the manganese content *** reduction of Fe(III)was accelerated with an increase in the addition of manganese,leading to an increase in the concentration of Fe(II).The electron transfer and the formation of Fe(II)were facilitated by the potential difference between manganese and carbon,as well as by the formation of microcells between iron and manganese,which improved the reduction ability of Sb(V).From our thorough investigation and research,this is the first report that has proposed Fe-Mn-C ME for removing *** provides a novel approach and technological support for removing Sb(V)efficiently.

Efficient energy transfer from self-trapped excitons to Mn^(2+) dopants in CsCdCl_(3):Mn^(2+) perovskite nanocrystals

Mn^(2+)doping has been adopted as an efficient approach to regulating the luminescence properties of halide perovskite nano-crystals(NCs).However,it is still difficult to understand the interplay of Mn^(2+)luminescence and the matrix self-trapped exciton(STE)emission *** this study,Mn^(2+)-doped CsCdCl_(3) NCs are prepared by hot injection,in which CsCdCl_(3) is selected because of its unique crystal structure suitable for STE *** blue emission at 441 nm of undoped CsCdCl_(3) NCs originates from the defect states in the ***^(2+)doping promotes lattice distortion of CsCdCl_(3) and generates bright orange-red light emission at 656 *** en-ergy transfer from the STEs of CsCdCl_(3) to the excited levels of the Mn^(2+)ion is confirmed to be a significant factor in achieving efficient luminescence in CsCdCl_(3):Mn^(2+)*** work highlights the crucial role of energy transfer from STEs to Mn^(2+)dopants in Mn^(2+)-doped halide NCs and lays the groundwork for modifying the luminescence of other metal halide perovskite NCs.

The Nesterov accelerated dynamical approach serves as an essential tool for addressing convex optimization problems with accelerated convergence *** previous studies in this field have primarily concentrated on unconstrained smooth con-vex optimization *** this paper,on the basis of primal-dual dynamical approach,Nesterov accelerated dynamical approach,projection operator and directional gradient,we present two accelerated primal-dual projection neurodynamic approaches with time scaling to address convex optimization problems with smooth and nonsmooth objective functions subject to linear and set constraints,which consist of a second-order ODE(ordinary differential equation)or differential conclusion system for the primal variables and a first-order ODE for the dual *** satisfying specific conditions for time scaling,we demonstrate that the proposed approaches have a faster conver-gence *** only requires assuming convexity of the objective *** validate the effectiveness of our proposed two accel-erated primal-dual projection neurodynamic approaches through numerical experiments.

A Self-Adapting and Efficient Dandelion Algorithm and Its Application to Feature Selection for Credit Card Fraud Detection

A dandelion algorithm(DA) is a recently developed intelligent optimization algorithm for function optimization problems. Many of its parameters need to be set by experience in DA,which might not be appropriate for all optimization problems. A self-adapting and efficient dandelion algorithm is proposed in this work to lower the number of DA's parameters and simplify DA's structure. Only the normal sowing operator is retained;while the other operators are discarded. An adaptive seeding radius strategy is designed for the core dandelion. The results show that the proposed algorithm achieves better performance on the standard test functions with less time consumption than its competitive peers. In addition, the proposed algorithm is applied to feature selection for credit card fraud detection(CCFD), and the results indicate that it can obtain higher classification and detection performance than the-state-of-the-art methods.
