A field experiment study was conducted in Bashang Plateau in North China in 2008 to determine the effect of three first cutting dates on the growth and water use efficiency （WUE） of Siberian wildrye （Elymus sibiricus L.） in the agropastoral ecotone of North China （APENC）. The experiment was conducted in a split plot design with three replications with water supply regime as the main plot treatment and first cutting date as the subplot treatment. Two water supply regimes were used, which included rain-fed treatment as control （CK） and a single irrigation and straw mulch treatment （W）. Three first cutting date treatments were conducted at early heading stage on July 1 （E）, at late heading stage on July 12 （L）, and at flowering stage on July 27 （F）, respectively. The results showed that the forage yield and WUE were the lowest at early heading stage harvest, while the highest at flowering stage either in CK or W treatment. Under combined CK and W treatments, average forage yields of the F subplots were 2 900 and 6 703 kg ha-~, and the values of WUE were 0.82 and 2.28 kg m-3, respectively. Under the CK treatment, forage yields of the E and L subplots were 43.8 and 41.9% lower than the F subplots, and their values of WUE were 46.2 and 50.3% lower than F, respectively. Under the W treatment, the forage yields of the E and L subplots were 74.9 and 61.6% lower, and their values of WUE were 78.1 and 63.3% lower, respectively, as compared with F subplots. Therefore, earlier first cutting did not increase the regrowth of Siberian wildrye and improve the mismatch between rainy season and the period of high growth potential of the grass in the semiarid APENC.

Surgical simulators need to simulate deformation and cutting of deformable objects. Adaptive octree mesh based cutting methods embed the deformable objects into octree meshes that are recursively refined near the cutting tool trajectory. Deformation is only applied to the octree meshes; thus the deformation instability problem caused by degenerated elements is avoided. Biological tissues and organs usually contain complex internal structures that are ignored by previous work. In this paper the deformable objects are modeled as voxels connected by links and embedded inside adaptive octree meshes. Links swept by the cutting tool are disconnected and object surface meshes are reconstructed from disconnected links. Two novel methods for embedding triangular meshes as internal structures are proposed. The surface mesh embedding method is applicable to arbitrary triangular meshes, but these meshes have no physical properties. The material sub-region embedding method associates the interiors enclosed by the triangular meshes with physical properties, but requires that these meshes are watertight, and have no self-intersections, and their smallest features are larger than a voxel. Some local features are constructed in a pre-calculation stage to increase simulation performance. Simulation tests show that our methods can cut embedded structures in a way consistent with the cutting of the deformable objects. Cut fragments can also deform correctly along with the deformable objects.

Owing to its excellent high-temperature resistance and high conductivity,zirconium diboride(ZrB_(2)) has been applied as an infrared suppression ***,ZrB_(2)is susceptible to hydrolysis under high-moisture conditions and even under mild working *** improvement in the hydrophobicity of the ZrB_(2)surface effectively reduces wetting by water and suppresses hydrolysis reaction,particularly under high-temperature and high-moisture ***,we report a novel,easy,and highly reproducible method for producing a fully coated ZrB_(2)surface by developing a nanoscale hydrophobic layer of glassy LaF_(3)on the surface of ZrB_(2)powder particles in situ(i.e.,during the carbothermal synthesis of ZrB_(2)).Through the tests carried out at 200 ℃for 100-300 h in a hydrothermal reactor,the produced powders displayed remarkably high long-term hydrolysis resistance and pronounced chemical *** with treated ZrB_(2),ZrB_(2)@LaF_(3)remained lower infrared emissivity when continuously intensifying hydrolyzation *** results suggest that a nanoscale surface modification strategy can be applied to stabilize the infrared emissivity of ZrB_(2)in a water-oxygen coupling environment.

The medium-temperature T dependence of the jet transport coefficient̂q was studied via the nuclear modification factor RAA(p_(T))and elliptical flow parameter v_(2)(p_(T))for large transverse momentum p_(T) hadrons in high-energy nucleus-nucleus *** a next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD parton model for hard scatterings with modified fragmentation functions due to jet quenching controlled by q,we check the suppression and azimuthal anisotropy for large p_(T) hadrons,and extract q by global fits to RAA(pT)and v_(2)(pT)data in A+A collisions at RHIC and LHC,*** numerical results from the best fits show that q∕T^(3) goes down with local medium-temperature T in the parton jet *** with the case of a constant q∕T^(3),the going-down T dependence of q∕T^(3) makes a hard parton jet to lose more energy near T_(c) and therefore strengthens the azimuthal anisotropy for large pT *** a result,v_(2)(p_(T))for large pT hadrons was enhanced by approximately 10%to better fit the data at RHIC/*** the first-order phase transition from QGP to the hadron phase and the additional energy loss in the hadron phase,v_(2)(p_(T))is again enhanced by 5-10%at RHIC/LHC.

BACKGROUND: There is no report on case of severe acute hyperlipidemic pancreatitis after treatment of Sheehan’s syndrome. METHODS: A 32-year-old female patient was diagnosed as having acute hyperlipidemic pancreatitis after treatment of Sheehan’s syndrome, and treated with diet and lipidlowering agents in early stage. RESULTS: Abdominal pain and fever of the patient resolved within a few days. She was subjected to diet and oral lipid-lowering therapy on the 4th day after admission. The disease did not recur during the follow-up for more than one year. CONCLUSIONS: Estrogen replacement therapy should be prescribed for Sheehan’s syndrome. The serum level of triglyceride should be monitored and treatment should be given to prevent severe acute pancreatitis. Lipid-lowering therapy in early stage is the key step towards a complete recovery.
