Cost effective separation of acetylene(C_2H_2)and ethylene(C_2H_4)is of key importance to obtain essential chemical raw materials for polymer *** to the low compression limit of C_2H_2,there is an urgent demand to develop suitable materials for efficiently separating the two gases under ambient *** this paper,we provided a high-throughput screening strategy to study porous metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)containing open metal sites(OMS)for C_2H_2/C_2H_4 separation,followed by a rational design of novel MOFs in-silico.A set of accurate force fields was established from ab initio calculations to describe the critical role of OMS towards guest *** a large-scale computational screening of 916 experimental Cu-paddlewheel-based MOFs,three materials were identified with excellent separation *** structure-performance relationships revealed that the optimal materials should have the largest cavity diameter around 5-10?and pore volume in-between 0.3-1.0 cm^3 g^(-1).Based on the systematic screening study result,three novel MOFs were further designed with the incorporation of fluorine functional *** results showed that Cu-OMS and the-F group on the aromatic rings close to Cu sites could generate a synergistic effect on the preferential adsorption of C_2H_2 over C_2H_4,leading to a remarkable improvement of C_2H_2 separation performance of the *** findings could provide insight for future experimental design and synthesis of high-performance nanostructured materials for C_2H_2/C_2H_4 separation.

The Impact of Storm-Induced SST Cooling on Storm Size and Destructiveness: Results from Atmosphere-Ocean Coupled Simulations

In this study, both an atmospheric model [Weather Research and Forecasting(WRF) model] and an atmosphere(WRF)–ocean(Princeton Ocean Model;POM) coupled model are used to simulate the tropical cyclone(TC) Kaemi(2006). By comparing the simulation results of the models, effects of oceanic elements, especially the TC-induced sea surface temperature(SST) cooling, on the simulated TC size and destructiveness are identified and analyzed. The results show that there are no notable differences in the simulated TC track and its intensity between the uncoupled and coupled experiments;however, there are large differences in the TC size(i.e., the radius of gale-force wind)between the two experiments, and it is the TC-induced SST cooling that decreases the TC size. The SST cooling contributes to the decrease of air–sea moisture difference(ASMD) outside the TC eyewall, which subsequently leads to the decreases in surface enthalpy flux(SEF), radial sea-level pressure gradient, absolute vorticity advection, and wind speed outside the TC eyewall. As a result, the TC size and size-dependent TC destructive potential all decrease remarkably.

Despite extensive researches on the motion of polymer chains on lipid membranes,the effect of membrane fluctuations on polymer chain dynamics remains poorly *** we report single molecule tracking experiments that allow for comparable measurements of polymer chain diffusion dynamics on nanotubular and planar phospholipid *** observe a super-diffusion behavior and no apparent chain-length-dependent mobility of polymer chains on nanotubular membranes,while a Brownian motion and apparent chain-lengthdependent mobility of polymer chains on planar *** suggest the super-diffusion nature of polymer chains may be due to the thermal-fluctuations of lipid nanotubes,which can be described from a statistical thermodynamic phenomenon coupling of polymer chain dynamics and surface thermal *** suggest that the existence of surface environment fluctuations should influence the dynamics of the adsorbed polymer *** study provides previously uncharacterized insights into polymer diffusion dynamics on thermal-fluctuating flexible surfaces,which is essential to understanding the effect of environment fluctuations on polymer chain behaviors.

Two isomers of a sandwich-type anion [Ge_(9)-In-Ge_(9)]^(5–) were synthesized by controlling the chelating agents (2,2,2-crypt/18-C-6). Further reactions with early/late transition metal complexes, Mo(CO)_(6) and Ni(COD)_(2), respectively, yielded two new types of inorganic sandwich derivatives: a half-sandwich cluster [Ge_(9)-In-Mo(CO)_(5)]^(3–) with a low-valence In(I) center and an unsymmetrical sandwich-type cluster {[(Ni@Ge_(9))In(Ni_(0.648)@Ge_(9))]}^(5–) due to the insertion of Ni atoms, respectively. The isolation of these new derivatives demonstrates the reactivity of sandwich-type [Ge_(9)-In-Ge_(9)]^(5–) acting as the precursor, which provides some enlightenment for constructing new inorganic sandwich compounds.

In this study, we present a unified sparsity-driven framework that significantly enhances motion deblurring performance by integrating two key components: a custom-designed dataset and a low-rank module(LRM). This framework leverages the inherent sparsity of per-pixel blur kernels to bolster both deblurring accuracy and model interpretability. Firstly, we propose an adaptive-basis decomposition-based deblurring(ADD) approach, which constructs a tailored training dataset to enhance the generalization capacity of the deblurring network. The ADD framework adaptively decomposes motion blur into sparse basis elements, effectively addressing the intricacies associated with non-uniform blurs. Secondly, an LRM is proposed to improve the interpretability of deblurring models as a plug-and-play module, primarily designed to identify and harness the intrinsic sparse features in sharp images. A series of ablation studies have been conducted to substantiate the synergistic advantages of combining the proposed ADD with the LRM for overall improvement in deblurring efficacy. Subsequently, we empirically demonstrate through rigorous experimentation that incorporating the LRM into an existing Uformer network leads to substantial enhancement in reconstruction performance. This integration yields a sparsity-guided low-rank network(SGLRN). Operating under the overarching principle of sparsity, SGLRN consistently outperforms state-of-the-art methods across multiple standard deblurring benchmarks. Comprehensive experimental results, assessed through quantitative metrics and qualitative visual evaluations, provide compelling evidence of its effectiveness. The overall deblurring results are available at Google Drive.

The potato tuberworm Phthorimaea operculella Zeller, is one of the most important potato pests worldwide including China. Several reports indicate that P. operculella could be controlled biologically by the use of beneficial fungus such as Beauveria bassiana(Bals.-Criv) Vuill. However, limited information is available under growing conditions in China. Thus, this study evaluated the sub-lethal effects of B. bassiana on the offspring of P. operculella by the age-stage, two-sex life table. First instar larva of P. operculella were treated with 1×107 conidia m L–1 of the fungus, and several biological parameters were evaluated. The fecundity, duration of the egg stage, all larval stages, pre-adult stage, and total pre-oviposition period, were significantly shorter than the control treatment. Offspring of treated parents, presented a net reproductive rate and mean generation time of 17.43 per day and 24.98 days, respectively, compared to 65.79 per day and 26.51 days for the untreated ones. This study provides basic information to help understanding the potential long-term effects of entomopathogenic fungi on P. operculella.

The study of three-dimensional human kinematics has significant impacts on medical and healthcare technology innovations. As a non-invasive technology, optoelectronic stereophotogrammetry is widely used for in-vivo locomotor evaluations. However, relatively high testing difficulties, poor testing accuracies, and high analysis complexities prohibit its further employment. The objective of this study is to explore an improved modeling technique for quantitative measurement and analysis of human locomotion. Firstly, a 3D whole body model of 17 rigid segments was developed to describe human locomotion. Subsequently, a novel infrared reflective marker cluster for 17 body segments was constructed to calibrate and record the 3D segmental position and orientation of each functional body region simultaneously with high spatial accuracy. In addition, the novel calibration procedure and the conception of kinematic coupling of human locomotion were proposed to investigate the segmental functional characteristics of human motion. Eight healthy male subjects were evaluated with walking and running experiments using the Qualisys motion capture system. The experimental results demonstrated the followings: (i) The kinematic coupling of the upper limbs and the lower limbs both showed the significant characteristics of joint motion, while the torso motion of human possessed remarkable features of segmental motion; (ii) flexion/extension was the main motion feature in sagittal plane, while the lateral bending in coronal plane and the axial rotation in transverse plane were subsidiary motions during an entire walking cycle regarding to all the segments of the human body; (iii) compared with conventional methods, the improved techniques have a competitive advantage in the convenient measurement and accurate analysis of the segmental dynamic functional characteristics during human locomotion. The modeling technique proposed in this paper has great potentials in rehabilitation engineering

The high-value utilization of industrial solid waste using a facile and eco-friendly process is of great interest and significance in reducing environmental pollution and developing a green circular economy. Herein, we propose an amyloid-mediated molecular engineering strategy to transform particulate waste into valuable adsorbents for metal ions. Our method has the advantage of aqueous solution fabrication under mild conditions without the use of high-temperature hydrothermal methods and toxic chemical reagents. Amyloid-mediated molecular engineering manipulates the phase transition of bovine serum albumin(BSA)on particulate waste surfaces, resulting in a remarkable ～3.1 times improvement in the adsorption capacity of fly ash, a typical industrial solid waste for gold ions after modification with the phase-transitioned BSA(PTB). The resultant adsorption ability was 69–1,980 times higher than those of conventional and emerging adsorbent materials such as ion exchange resins, activated carbon(AC), covalent organic frameworks(COFs), and metal-organic frameworks(MOFs). We further demonstrated the application of our PTB-modified materials in the recovery of precious metals from low-grade gold ore and electronic waste leachates. Consequently, this strategy could increase the value of waste materials nearly 27 times. In addition, this method is generally extendable to other conventional industrial adsorbents such as resin, clay, and Al2O3, and enhances their adsorption capabilities at least twofold. Overall, this work provides a simple and green approach for improving the adsorption performance of solid particles, and is expected to develop into a universal strategy for transforming waste particles into high-value-added products.
