AIM： To assess the adhesion and invasion abilities of different mouse adapted H py/or/strains in different cell lines in vitro and investigate their effects on the virulence factors cagA and vacA. METHODS： The adherence and invasion abilities of different N pylori strains in different epithelial cell lines were examined by the gentamycin protection assay. The null mutants of cagA and vacA were processed by direct PCR mutation method. The morphologic changes of different cell lines after N pylori attachment were examined by microscopy. RESULTS： The densities of adherence to and invasion into cells in vitro were different from those in the mouse infection experiments. 88-3887 strain could invade and adhere to cells stronger than SS1 and X47. All tested strains had better adhering and invasive abilities in SCG-7901 cell. CagA and vacA minus mutants had the same invasion and adherent abilities as their wild types. In all strains and cell lines tested, only AGS cell had the significant hummingbird phenotype after inoculation with the 88-3887 wild-type. CONCLUSION： Both the host cells and the bacteria play important parts in the invasion and adhesion abilities of Hpylori. CagA and VacA are not related to the ability of invasion and adhesion of Hpylori in different cell lines in vitro.

Minimally invasive video-assisted thyroidectomy for accidental papillary thyroid microcarcinoma： comparison with conventional open thyroidectomy with 5 years follow-up

Background Minimally invasive video-assisted thyroidectomy （MIVAT） has received increasing attention for malignant thyroid diseases. The aim of this study was to compare the outcomes of MIVAT with conventional open thyroidectomy （CT） for papillary thyroid microcarcinoma （PTMC）. Methods Thirty-one patients were treated with MIVAT and 37 with CT. Their pathological characteristics, surgical complications, 5-year postoperative thyroglobulin （TG） and ultrasonic results were followed up. Results All the patients took levothyroxine for suppressing thyroid stimulating hormone （TSH） after surgery, and were followed up with measurement of serum TG and neck ultrasonography at intervals of 6 or 12 months. There was no statistically significant difference between the CT and MIVAT groups for sex ratio, operation time, positive lymph nodes, complications and prognosis, but the MIVAT group had better cosmetic results. Conclusions MIVAT did not differ significantly from CT for PTMC after 5 years follow-up, but it did have better cosmetic results. MIVAT is a safe and valid surgical technique for selected cases.

The purposes of this study are to compare the proteome of Vibrio cholerae O139 strains with that of O22, O155 and El Tot biotype epidemic strains, and to identifv whether O139 strains have a close relation with the latter. Proteins of two V. cholerae serogroup O139 strains, two El Tor biotype epidemic strains, one O22 strain, and one O155 strain were separated by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis （2-DE） ; the silver stained 2-DE gels were scanned with （ligital lmageScanner and analyzed with lmageMaster 2D Elite 3.10 software. Similarities of protein maps between these strains were analyzed. The two O139 strains had 86% proteins in common; the two El Tor biotype epidemie strains showed 84% proteins in common; O139 strains shared 67 % , 47 % and 45 % proteins with El Tor biotype epidemic strains, O22 and O 155 strains respectively. Although the proteome of O 139 strains have close similarity to that of El Tor biotype epidemic strains, great disparities exist. O139 strains may not originate from El Tor biotype directly, and a transition strain may exist.

DEAR EDITOR,We examined the distribution,population,and conservation status of the critically endangered Myanmar or black snub-nosed monkey(Rhinopithecus strykeri)via field surveys over 26 months(2019-2021)in the Pianma region of the China-Myanmar *** to previous reports,we only identified one group in the region,which was a cross-border group occupying a multi-year home range of 51.50-57.02 km^(2).The current group size was much larger(155-160 individuals)than that in 2012-2014(ca 100 individuals),and the group appeared to be ***,confirmed poaching,mining,and transboundary forest fires on the Myanmar side of the border threaten their survival.
