Bubble dynamics properties of B-particles in a quasi-2D gas-solid fluidized bed:Computational particle fluid dynamics numerical simulation and post-processed by digital image analysis technique

Bubble dynamics properties play a crucial and significant role in the design and optimization of gas-solid fluidized beds.In this study,the bubble dynamics properties of four B-particles were investigated in a quasi-two-dimensional(quasi-2D)fluidized bed,including bubble equivalent diameter,bubble size distribution,average bubble density,bubble aspect ratio,bubble hold-up,bed expansion ratio,bubble radial position,and bubble velocity.The studies were performed by computational particle fluid dynamics(CPFD)numerical simulation and post-processed with digital image analysis(DIA)technique,at superficial gas velocities ranging from 2u_(mf) to 7u_(mf).The simulated results shown that the CPFD simulation combining with DIA technique post-processing could be used as a reliable method for simulating bubble dynamics properties in quasi-2D gas-solid fluidized beds.However,it seemed not desirable for the simulation of bubble motion near the air distributor at higher superficial gas velocity from the simulated average bubble density distribution.The superficial gas velocity significantly affected the bubble equivalent diameter and evolution,while it had little influence on bubble size distribution and bubble aspect ratio distribution for the same particles.Both time-averaged bubble hold-up and bed expansion ratio increased with the increase of superficial gas velocity.Two core-annular flow structures could be found in the fluidized bed for all cases.The average bubble rising velocity increased with the increasing bubble equivalent diameter.For bubble lateral movement,the smaller bubbles might be more susceptible,and superficial gas velocity had a little influence on the absolute lateral velocity of bubbles.The simulated results presented a valuable and novel approach for studying bubble dynamics properties.The comprehensive understanding of bubble dynamics behaviors in quasi-2D gas-solid fluidized beds would provide support in the design,operation,and optimization of gas-solid fluidized bed reactors.

Background:Long non-coding RNAs are important regulators in cancer biology and function either as tumor suppressors or as oncogenes.Their dysregulation has been closely associated with tumorigenesis.LINC00265 is upregulated in lung adenocarcinoma and is a prognostic biomarker of this cancer.However,the mechanism underlying its function in cancer progression remains poorly understood.Methods:Here,the regulatory role of LINC00265 in lung adenocarcinoma was examined using lung cancer cell lines,clinical samples,and xenografts.Results:We found that high levels of LINC00265 expression were associated with shorter overall survival rate of patients,whereas knockdown of LINC00265 inhibited proliferation of cancer cell lines and tumor growth in xenografts.Western blot andﬂow cytometry analyses indicated that silencing of LINC00265 induced autophagy and apoptosis.Moreover,we showed that LINC00265 interacted with and stabilized the transcriptional co-repressor Switch-independent 3a(SIN3A),which is a scaffold protein functioning either as a tumor repressor or as an oncogene in a context-dependent manner.Silencing of SIN3A also reduced proliferation of lung cancer cells,which was correlated with the induction of autophagy.These observations raise the possibility that LINC00265 functions to promote the oncogenic activity of SIN3A in lung adenocarcinoma.Conclusions:Ourﬁndings thus identify SIN3A as a LINC00265-associated protein and should help to understand the mechanism underlying LINC00265-mediated oncogenesis.

Ethylene plays essential roles in plant growth,development and stress responses.The ethylene signaling pathway and molecular mechanism have been studied extensively in Arabidopsis and rice but limited in peanuts.Here,we established a sand-culture method to screen pingyangmycin mutagenized peanut lines based on their specific response to ethylene(“triple response”).An ethylene-insensitive mutant,inhibition of peanut hypocotyl elongation 1(iph1),was identified that showed reduced sensitivity to ethylene in both hypocotyl elongation and root growth.Through bulked segregant analysis sequencing,a major gene related to iph1,named AhIPH1,was preliminarily mapped at the chromosome Arahy.01,and further narrowed to a 450-kb genomic region through substitution mapping strategy.A total of 7014 genes were differentially expressed among the ACC treatment through RNA-seq analysis,of which only the Arahy.5BLU0Q gene in the candidate mapping interval was differentially expressed between WT and mutant iph1.Integrating sequence variations,functional annotation and transcriptome analysis revealed that a predicated gene,Arahy.5BLU0Q,encoding SNF1 protein kinase,may be the candidate gene for AhIPH1.This gene contained two single-nucleotide polymorphisms at promoter region and was more highly expressed in iph1 than WT.Our findings reveal a novel ethylene-responsive gene,which provides a theoretical foundation and new genetic resources for the mechanism of ethylene signaling in peanuts.

BACKGROUND Local mesenchymal stem cell(MSC)therapy for complex perianal fistulas(PFs)has shown considerable promise.But,the long-term safety and efficacy of MSC therapy in complex PFs remain unknown.AIM To explore the long-term effectiveness and safety of local MSC therapy for complex PFs.METHODS Sources included the PubMed,EMBASE,and Cochrane Library databases.A standard meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.3.RESULTS After screening,6 studies met the inclusion criteria.MSC therapy was associated with an improved long-term healing rate(HR)compared with the control condition[odds ratio(OR)=2.13;95%confidence interval(95%CI):1.34 to 3.38;P=0.001].Compared with fibrin glue(FG)therapy alone,MSC plus FG therapy was associated with an improved long-term HR(OR=2.30;95%CI:1.21 to 4.36;P=0.01).When magnetic resonance imaging was used to evaluate fistula healing,MSC therapy was found to achieve a higher long-term HR than the control treatment(OR=2.79;95%CI:1.37 to 5.67;P=0.005).There were no significant differences in long-term safety(OR=0.77;95%CI:0.27 to 2.24;P=0.64).CONCLUSION Our study indicated that local MSC therapy promotes long-term and sustained healing of complex PFs and that this method is safe.

BACKGROUND Myocardial infarction(MI)is a critical cardiovascular event with multifaceted etiology,involving several genetic and environmental factors.It is essential to understand the function of plasma metabolites in the development of MI and unravel its complex pathogenesis.METHODS This study employed a bidirectional Mendelian randomization(MR)approach to investigate the causal relationships between plasma metabolites and MI risk.We used genetic instruments as proxies for plasma metabolites and MI and conducted MR analyses in both directions to assess the impact of metabolites on MI risk and vice versa.In addition,the large-scale genome-wide association studies datasets was used to identify genetic variants associated with plasma metabolite(1400 metabolites)and MI(20,917 individuals with MI and 440,906 individuals without MI)susceptibility.Inverse variance weighted was the primary method for estimating causal effects.MR estimates are expressed as beta coefficients or odds ratio(OR)with 95%CI.RESULTS We identified 14 plasma metabolites associated with the occurrence of MI(P<0.05),among which 8 plasma metabolites[propionylglycine levels(OR=0.922,95%CI:0.881–0.965,P<0.001),gamma-glutamylglycine levels(OR=0.903,95%CI:0.861–0.948,P<0.001),hexadecanedioate(C16-DC)levels(OR=0.941,95%CI:0.911–0.973,P<0.001),pentose acid levels(OR=0.923,95%CI:0.877–0.972,P=0.002),X-24546 levels(OR=0.936,95%CI:0.902–0.971,P<0.001),glycine levels(OR=0.936,95%CI:0.909–0.964,P<0.001),glycine to serine ratio(OR=0.930,95%CI:0.888–0.974,P=0.002),and mannose to trans-4-hydroxyproline ratio(OR=0.912,95%CI:0.869–0.958,P<0.001)]were correlated with a decreased risk of MI,whereas the remaining 6 plasma metabolites[1-palmitoyl-2-arachidonoyl-GPE(16:0/20:4)levels(OR=1.051,95%CI:1.018–1.084,P=0.002),behenoyl dihydrosphingomyelin(d18:0/22:0)levels(OR=1.076,95%CI:1.027–1.128,P=0.002),1-stearoyl-2-docosahexaenoyl-GPE(18:0/22:6)levels(OR=1.067,95%CI:1.027–1.109,P=0.001),alpha-ketobutyrate levels(OR=1.108,95%CI:1.041–1.180,P=0.001),5-acetylamino-6-formylam

BACKGROUND Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)ranks sixth globally in cancer incidence and third in mortality rates.Unfortunately,over 70% of HCC patients forego the opportunity for curative surgery or liver transplantation due to inadequate physical examinations,poor physical condition,and limited organ availability upon diagnosis.Clinical guidelines endorse transarterial chemoembolization(TACE)as the frontline treatment for intermediate to advanced-stage HCC.Cryoablation(CRA)is an emerging local ablative therapy increasingly used in HCC management.Recent studies suggest that combining CRA with TACE offers complementary and synergistic effects,potentially improving long-term survival rates.However,the superiority of combined TACE+CRA therapy over TACE alone for HCC lesions equal to or exceeding 5 cm requires further investigation.AIM To compare the efficacy and safety of TACE combined with CRA vs TACE alone in the treatment of HCC with a diameter of≥5 cm.METHODS PubMed,EMBASE,Cochrane Library,CNKI,Wanfang,and VIP databases were searched to retrieve all relevant studies on TACE and CRA up to July 2022.Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.3 software.RESULTS After screening according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,6 articles were included,including 2 randomized controlled trials and 4 nonrandomized controlled trials,with a total of 575 patients included in the meta-analysis.The results showed that the objective response rate[odds ratio(OR)=2.56,95%confidence interval(CI):1.66-3.96,P<0.0001],disease control rate(OR=3.03,95%CI:1.88-4.89,P<0.00001),1-year survival rate(OR=3.79,95%CI:2.50-5.76,P<0.00001),2-year survival rate(OR=2.34,95%CI:1.43-3.85,P=0.0008),and 3-year survival rate(OR=3.34,95%CI:1.61-6.94,P=0.001)were all superior to those of the control group;the postoperative decrease in alpha-fetoprotein value(OR=295.53,95%CI:250.22-340.85,P<0.0001),the postoperative increase in CD4 value(OR=10.59,95%CI:8.78-12.40,P<0.00001),and the postoperative decrease in CD8 value(OR=6.47,95%CI:4.44-8.50,P<0.00001)were

BACKGROUND Early diagnosis and therapeutic interventions can greatly enhance the developmental trajectory of children with autism spectrum disorder(ASD).However,the etiology of ASD is not completely understood.The presence of confounding factors from environment and genetics has increased the difficulty of the identification of diagnostic biomarkers for ASD.AIM To estimate and interpret the causal relationship between ASD and metabolite profile,taking into consideration both genetic and environmental influences.METHODS A two-sample Mendelian randomization(MR)analysis was conducted using summarized data from large-scale genome-wide association studies(GWAS)including a metabolite GWAS dataset covering 453 metabolites from 7824 European and an ASD GWAS dataset comprising 18381 ASD cases and 27969 healthy controls.Metabolites in plasma were set as exposures with ASD as the main outcome.The causal relationships were estimated using the inverse variant weight(IVW)algorithm.We also performed leave-one-out sensitivity tests to validate the robustness of the results.Based on the drafted metabolites,enrichment analysis was conducted to interpret the association via constructing a protein-protein interaction network with multi-scale evidence from databases including Infinome,SwissTargetPrediction,STRING,and Metascape.RESULTS Des-Arg(9)-bradykinin was identified as a causal metabolite that increases the risk of ASD(β=0.262,SE=0.064,P_(IVW)=4.64×10^(-5)).The association was robust,with no significant heterogeneity among instrument variables(P_(MR Egger)=0.663,P_(IVW)=0.906)and no evidence of pleiotropy(P=0.949).Neuroinflammation and the response to stimulus were suggested as potential biological processes mediating the association between Des-Arg(9)bradykinin and ASD.CONCLUSION Through the application of MR,this study provides practical insights into the potential causal association between plasma metabolites and ASD.These findings offer perspectives for the discovery of diagnostic or predictive biomarkers to support clinical

An edge-cut of an edge-colored connected graph is called a rainbow cut if no two edges in the edge-cut are colored the same.An edge-colored graph is rainbow disconnected if for any two distinct vertices u and v of the graph,there exists a rainbow cut separating u and v.For a connected graph G,the rainbow disconnection number of G,denoted by rd(G),is defined as the smallest number of colors required to make G rainbow disconnected.In this paper,we first give some upper bounds for rd(G),and moreover,we completely characterize the graphs which meet the upper bounds of the NordhausGaddum type result obtained early by us.Secondly,we propose a conjecture that for any connected graph G,either rd(G)=λ^(+)(G)or rd(G)=λ^(+)(G)+1,whereλ^(+)(G)is the upper edge-connectivity,and prove that the conjecture holds for many classes of graphs,which supports this conjecture.Moreover,we prove that for an odd integer k,if G is a k-edge-connected k-regular graph,thenχ’(G)=k if and only if rd(G)=k.It implies that there are infinitely many k-edge-connected k-regular graphs G for which rd(G)=λ^(+)(G)for odd k,and also there are infinitely many k-edge-connected k-regular graphs G for which rd(G)=λ^(+)(G)+1 for odd k.For k=3,the result gives rise to an interesting result,which is equivalent to the famous Four-Color Problem.Finally,we give the relationship between rd(G)of a graph G and the rainbow vertex-disconnection number rvd(L(G))of the line graph L(G)of G.

Endovascular stent-graft treatment for aortoesophageal fistula induced by an esophageal fishbone:Two cases report

BACKGROUND Aortoesophageal fistula(AEF)induced by esophageal fishbones is a rare complication of esophageal foreign bodies and is very difficult to treat.Although the current view suggests that endovascular stent-graft treatment is useful for AEF,whether a subsequent thoracic operation is necessary remains controversial.The purpose of this report is to describe our experience using endovascular stentgraft treatment without combined thoracic operations for the treatment of AEF in two specific cases.CASE SUMMARY We presented two cases of patients complaining of retrosternal discomfort treated in our department for an aortoesophageal fistula caused by the accidental ingestion of a fishbone.The two patients were effectively managed with combined means of endoscopic,medical(broad-spectrum antibiotic therapy,fasting,gastrointestinal decompression,etc.)and endovascular stent-graft treatment.The main difference in treatment was that the first patient presented with hematemesis after endoscopic removal of the fishbone.Subsequently,the patient underwent endovascular stent-graft treatment.The second case was managed with endoscopic removal of the fishbone with simultaneous endovascular stent-graft treatment,without any signs of hematemesis or melena.Both patients had successful postoperative management and were discharged home.Long-term follow-up is ongoing.CONCLUSION The treatment decision-making process should depend on the patients’specific situations.Our practice indicates that endovascular stent-graft treatment without combined thoracic operations could be a valuable alternative in selected patients.
