A new interacting capillary bundle model on the multiphase flow in micropores of tight rocks

Surfactants are widely used in the fracturing fluid to enhance the imbibition and thus the oil recovery rate. However, current numerical models cannot capture the physics behind capillary imbibition during the wettability alteration by surfactants. Although the interacting capillary bundle(ICB) model shows potential in characterizing imbibition rates in different pores during wettability alteration, the existing ICB models neglect the influence of wettability and viscosity ratio on the imbibition behavior, making it difficult to accurately describe the oil-water imbibition behavior within the porous media. In this work,a new ICB mathematical model is established by introducing pressure balance without assuming the position of the leading front to comprehensively describe the imbibition behavior in a porous medium under different conditions, including gas-liquid spontaneous imbibition and oil-water *** the pore size distribution of a tight rock is known, this new model can predict the changes of water saturation during the displacement process in the tight rock, and also determine the imbibition rate in pores of different sizes. The water saturation profiles obtained from the new model are validated against the waterflooding simulation results from the CMG, while the imbibition rates calculated by the model are validated against the experimental observations of gas-liquid spontaneous imbibition. The good match above indicates the newly proposed model can show the water saturation profile at a macroscopic scale while capture the underlying physics of the multiphase flow in a porous medium at a microscopic scale. Simulation results obtained from this model indicate that both wettability and viscosity ratio can affect the sequence of fluid imbibition into pores of different sizes during the multiphase flow, where less-viscous wetting fluid is preferentially imbibed into larger pores while more-viscous wetting fluid tends to be imbibed into smaller pores. A reverse particle grading strategy for design and fabrication of porous SiC ceramic supports with improved strength

Porous ceramics usually require high mechanical strength and maximized porosity simultaneously,while for conventional particle grading strategies,it is highly challenging to meet both *** this end,a reverse particle grading strategy was developed based on the linear packing model by unusually introducing coarse particles(d_(50)=16μm)into a fine particle(d50=5μm)*** the extrusion and sintering process,tubular porous SiC ceramic supports with improved mechanical strength were successfully *** effects of coarse particles on the rheological properties of the ceramic paste and the macroscopic properties and microstructure of the SiC supports were systematically *** an increase in the content of coarse SiC particles to 30 wt%,the pressure generated during extrusion decreased from 5.5±0.2 to 1.3±0.1 ***,the bending strength of the tubular supports increased from 36.6±5.6 to 49.1±4.5 MPa when 20 wt%coarse powder was *** notably improved mechanical strength was attributed to the distribution of coarse particles that prolonged the route of crack ***,the optimized tubular supports had an average pore size of 1.2±0.1μm,an open porosity of 45.1%±1.6%,and a water permeability of 7163±150 L/(m^(2)·h·bar)as well as good alkali and acid corrosion ***,the strategy was proven to be feasible for the scale-up fabrication of 19-channel SiC tubular porous ceramic supports.

Structural Evolution of Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene Low-Entangled Films with Reserved Shish Crystals During Hot Stretching

Shish crystals are crucial to achieving high performance low-dimensional ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene(UHMWPE)***,high stretch and shear flow fields are necessary for the formation of shish *** this study,UHMWPE gel films with reserved shish crystals were prepared by gel molding,the structural evolution and properties of UHMWPE films stretched at temperatu res of 100,110,120and 130℃were investigated by in situ small-angle X-ray scattering(SAXS)/ultra-small-angle X-ray scattering(USAXS)/wide-angle X-ray diffraction(WAXD)measu rements as well as scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)*** findings showed that the reserved shish crystals can facilitate the formation and structural evolution of shish-kebab crystals during the hot ***,the reserved shish crystals promote the structu ral evolution of UHMWPE films to a greater extent when stretched at 120 and 130℃,compared to 100 and 110℃,resulting in higher crystallinity,orientation,thermal properties,breaking strength and Young's *** pared to UHMWPE high-entangled films with reserved shish crystals prepared by compression molding,UHMWPE low-entangled films with reserved shish crystals prepared by gel molding are more effective in inducing the formation and evolution of shish-kebab crystals during the hot stretching,resulting in increased breaking strength and Young's modulus.

Survey on performance of vertical slot and nature-like fishways at Angu hydropower station, Southwest China

To restore dam-blocked natural fish migratory passages,a growing number of artificial fishways have been built in water conservancy and hydropower projects in *** Angu hydropower station involved diverse important fish habitats in the lower reaches of the Daduhe River in Southwest ***,a vertical slot fishway(VSF)and a nature-like fishway(NLF)were built near the backwater area of the reservoir to connect the upstream and downstream *** and aquatic ecological surveys were conducted after the completion of the project to estimate the fish passing effect of the two *** results indicated that both fishways were in effective operation and could maintain the desired hydrodynamic conditions and be used by several local fish *** the survey,149 fish from 15 species and 111 fish from 17 species were captured by the traps in the VSF and NLF,respectively,while 1263 fish from 27 species were found in the downstream *** species captured in the VSF were not found in the NLF,and vice versa,which implied the different preferences of ***,3789 signals including 2099 upward ones and 1690 downward ones were monitored with an ultrasonic fish detector at the inlet of the *** findings revealed the characteristics of fish species observed in and near the fishways and provided valuable insights into the different fish passing capabilities of VSFandNLF.

Exploring charge and spin fluctuations in infinite-layer cuprate SrCuO_(2)from a phonon perspective

The infinite-layer cuprate ACu O_(2)(A=Ca,Sr,Ba)possesses the simplest crystal structure among numerous cuprate superconductors and can serve as a prototypical system to explore the unconventional *** on the first-principles electronic structure calculations,we have studied the electronic and magnetic properties of the infinite-layer cuprate SrCuO_(2)from a phonon *** find that interesting fluctuations of charges,electrical dipoles,and local magnetic moments can be induced by the atomic displacements of phonon modes in SrCuO_(2)upon the hole *** all optical phonon modes of SrCuO_(2)in the antiferromagnetic Néel state,only the A_(1g)mode that involves the full-breathing O vibrations along the Cu-O bonds can cause significant fluctuations of local magnetic moments on O atoms and dramatic charge redistributions between Cu and O ***,due to the atomic displacements of the A_(1g)mode,both the charge fluctuations on Cu and the electrical dipoles on O show a dome-like evolution with increasing hole doping,quite similar to the experimentally observed behavior of the superconducting T_(c);in comparison,the fluctuations of local magnetic moments on O display a monotonic enhancement along with the hole *** analyses indicate that around the optimal doping,there exists a large softening in the frequency of the A_(1g)phonon mode and a van Hove singularity in the electronic structure close to the Fermi level,suggesting potential electron-phonon *** work reveals the important role of the full-breathing O phonon mode playing in the infinite-layer SrCuO_(2),which may provide new insights in understanding the cuprate superconductivity.

Deep learning-based lung sound analysis for intelligent stethoscope

Single-ended Time Domain Fault Location Based on Transient Signal Measurements of Transmission Lines

Precise fault location plays an important role in the reliability of modern power *** the in-creasing penetration of renewable energy sources,the power system experiences a decrease in system inertia and alterations in steady-state characteristics following a fault *** existing single-ended phasor domain methods assume a certain impedance of the remote-end system or consistent current phases at both *** problems present challenges to the applicability of con-ventional phasor-domain location *** paper presents a novel single-ended time domain fault location method for single-phase-to-ground faults,one which fully considers the distributed parameters of the line *** fitting of transient signals in the time domain is real-ized to extract the instantaneous amplitude and ***,to eliminate the error caused by assumptions of lumped series resistance in the Bergeron model,an im-proved numerical derivation is presented for the distrib-uted parameter line *** instantaneous symmet-rical components are extracted for decoupling and inverse transformation of three-phase recording *** on the above,the equation of instantaneous phase constraint is established to effectively identify the fault *** proposed location method reduces the negative effects of fault resistance and the uncertainty of remote end pa-rameters when relying on one-terminal data for ***,the proposed fault analysis methods have the ability to adapt to transient processes in power *** comparisons with existing methods in three different systems,the fault position is correctly identified within an error of 1%.Also,the results are not affected by sampling rates,data windows,fault inception angles,and load conditions. Multi-scale persistent spatiotemporal transformer for long-term urban traffic flow prediction

Long-term urban traffic flow prediction is an important task in the field of intelligent transportation,as it can help optimize traffic management and improve travel *** improve prediction accuracy,a crucial issue is how to model spatiotemporal dependency in urban traffic *** recent years,many studies have adopted spatiotemporal neural networks to extract key information from traffic ***,most models ignore the semantic spatial similarity between long-distance areas when mining spatial *** also ignore the impact of predicted time steps on the next unpredicted time step for making long-term ***,these models lack a comprehensive data embedding process to represent complex spatiotemporal *** paper proposes a multi-scale persistent spatiotemporal transformer(MSPSTT)model to perform accurate long-term traffic flow prediction in *** adopts an encoder-decoder structure and incorporates temporal,periodic,and spatial features to fully embed urban traffic data to address these *** model consists of a spatiotemporal encoder and a spatiotemporal decoder,which rely on temporal,geospatial,and semantic space multi-head attention modules to dynamically extract temporal,geospatial,and semantic *** spatiotemporal decoder combines the context information provided by the encoder,integrates the predicted time step information,and is iteratively updated to learn the correlation between different time steps in the broader time range to improve the model’s accuracy for long-term *** on four public transportation datasets demonstrate that MSPSTT outperforms the existing models by up to 9.5%on three common metrics.
