Comparative Study on Different Methods for Prediction of Thermal Insulation Performance of Thermal Barrier Coating Used on Turbine Blades

As turbine inlet temperature gets higher and higher,thermal barrier coating(TBC) is more and more widely used in turbine *** turbine blades with TBC,it is of great significance to evaluate the temperature distribution of its substrate metal quickly and accurately,especially during the design *** different degrees of simplification such as whether to consider the change of the geometric size of the fluid domain by TBC and whether to consider the planar heat conduction in TBC,three different methods used in conjugate heat transfer(CHT) simulation to model the TBC of the turbine blades have been developed and widely used by ***,little research has been conducted to investigate the influence of the three methods on the temperature distribution of turbine *** fill this gap,three geometric models were *** are a solid conduction model with a substrate metal layer and a TBC layer,a transonic turbine vane with internal cooling and TBC,and a plate cylindrical film hole cooling model with *** methods were used in these geometric models and their differences were carefully analyzed and *** result shows that for the conduction model used in this paper,with the same TBC surface temperature distribution,the difference between the three methods is very small and can be *** a transonic turbine vane with internal cooling,regarding the local maximum temperature of the substrate-TBC interface,the largest difference between the method in which TBC is considered as a thermal resistance or a virtual layer of cells and the method in which three-dimensional heat conduction equation of TBC is solved occurs at the trailing *** difference near the leading edge is below *** employed to the film cooling model,the difference of the laterally averaged temperature of the substrate-TBC interface can be 8 K which is mainly due to the change of the length to diameter ratio of the film cooling hole by *** the substrate

Modeling the hydrodynamics of cocurrent gas-solid downers according to energy-minimization multi-scale theory

Cocurrent gas-solid downer reactors have many applications in industry because they possess the tech- nological advantages of a lower pressure drop, shorter residence time, and less solid backmixing when compared with traditional circulating fluidized bed risers. By introducing the concept of particle clusters explicitly, a one-dimensional model with consideration of the interphase interactions between the fluid and particles at both microscale and mesoscale is formulated for concurrent downward gas-solid flow according to energy-minimization multi-scale （EMMS） theory. A unified stability condition is proposed for the differently developed sections of gas-solid flow according to the principle of the compromise in competition between dominant mechanisms. By optimizing the number density of particle clusters with respect to the stability condition, the formulated model can be numerically solved without introducing cluster-specific empirical correlations. The EMMS-based model predicts well the axial hydrodynamics of cocurrent gas-solid downers and is expected to have a wider range of applications than the existing cluster-based models.

Ionic conductive hydrogels toughened by latex particles for strain sensors

Conductive hydrogels have attracted tremendous attention due to their excellent softness and stretchability as wearable strain sensing ***,most of hydrogel-based strain sensors suffered from poor self-recoverability and fatigue resistance,resulting in significant decrease of strain sensitivity after ***,a soft and flexible wearable strain sensor is prepared by using an ionic conductive hydrogel with latex particles as physical cross-linking *** dynamic physical cross-linking structure can effectively dissipate energy through disruption and reconstruction of molecular segments,thereby imparting excellent stretchability,self-recoverability and fatigue *** addition,the hydrogel exhibits excellent strain-sensitive resistance changes,which enables it to be assembled as a wearable sensor to monitor human *** a result,the hydrogel strain sensor can provide precise feedback for a wide range of human activities,including large-scale joint bending and tiny ***,the tough ionic conductive hydrogel would be widely applied in electronic skin,medical monitoring and artificial intelligence.

Petrogenesis of the Carboniferous Intrusive Rock in the Xiaobaishitou District of East Tianshan,Northwest China:Magma Evolution and Tectonic Significance

The Xiaobaishitou gabbro-diorite pluton comprises a medium-grained gabbro-diorite suite and a fine-grained diorite suite,which intrude the Kawabulag Group in the East Tianshan Orogen of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt(CAOB).A combination of mineral chemistry,zircon U-Pb age,whole-rock geochemistry,Sr-Nd isotopes,and in situ zircon Hf isotopes for newly found gabbro-diorite from the Xiaobaishitou district in the Central Tianshan Terrane(CTT)is presented to investigate the petrogenesis and tectonic or even crustal evolution of the East Tianshan *** ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(LA-ICP-MS)zircon U-Pb analyses indicate that the gabbro-diorite was formed at 324.7±2.4 *** isolated clinopyroxene formed under higher P-T-fO_(2)melt conditions(10.7–14.6 kbar;1199–1269℃;high fO_(2))than those for the hornblende,plagioclase,and zircon(557–687℃;moderate fO_(2))in the gabbro-diorite,which reveals a multilevel,magmatic storage *** gabbro-diorite is characterized by fractioned REE patterns,enriched LILEs(e.g.,Ba and Pb),negative anomalies of HFSEs(e.g.,Nb and Ta),and low La/Yb and Sr/Y ratios,which are typically indicative of crustal contamination and accounted for by subduction-related *** rock also characterized by typical features of high compatible elements(MgO=3.14–11.65 wt%,Cr=1–157 ppm,Ni=6–830 ppm),high Mg^(#)(47–74),positiveε_(Hf)(t)values(+5.1 to+10.3)andε_(Nd)(t)values(+2.3 to+4.4).These features suggest that the Xiaobaishitou gabbro-diorite was most likely derived from metasomatic mantle and contaminated minor crustal *** into account the spatial and temporal distribution of the Carboniferous magmatic rocks in the CTT,we suggest the formation of the Xiaobaishitou gabbro-diorite was attributed to southward subduction of the Kangguer Ocean.

p-Hydroxybenzoic acid (p-HA) modified polymeric micelles for brain-targeted docetaxel delivery

Chemotherapies for brain diseases have been hampered due to the inability of transport of drug across the blood-brain barrier (BBB). In order to overcome the barrier, p-hydroxybenzoic acid (p-HA), a small molecule of benzamide analogue, was used as a ligand for brain-targeted drug delivery. The p-HA was conjugated to PEG-DSPE to form p-HA-PEG-DSPE. Docetaxel-loaded polymeric micelles were prepared by a thin-film hydration method using methoxy-poly(ethylene glycol)-distearoylphosphatidyl- ethanolamine (mPEG 2000 -DSPE) as a carrier and the p-HA-PEG-DSPE as a brain targeted material. The prepared micelles showed spherical with a mean diameter of (18±3) nm. Encapsulation efficiency and drug loading were (83.49±1.3)%, (7.7±1.2)% for un- modified micelles and (80.65±1.6)%, (7.47±1.8)% for p-HA-modified micelles, respectively. In vitro cellular uptake experiments showed that the p-HA-modified micelles increased BCECs cellular uptake by 1.2 times compared to the unmodified micelles. Ex vivo near-infrared fluorescence imaging showed that brain uptake of the p-HA-modified micelles was 1.3-1.8 times higher than that of the unmodified micelles. In vitro cytotoxicity assay against glioblastoma cell U87 MG showed that inhibition rate of the p-HA-modified micelles increased by 1.2 times compared to that of the unmodified micelles and 1.7 times compared to that of DTX. Survival time of nude mice bearing intracranial glioblastoma showed that the lifetime of saline group, Taxotere group, mPEG-DSPE/DTX micelles group and p-HA-PEG-DSPE/DTX micelles group was 22, 27, 32 and 45.8 d, representively, which indicated that anti-glioblastoma activity of DTX could be significantly enhanced by the p-HA-modified polymeric micelles. These results demonstrated that the p-HA-modified micelles could be a promising brain-targeted drug delivery system for hydrophobic drugs against glioblastoma.

Seasonal characteristics and forcing mechanisms of the surface Kuroshio branch intrusion into the South China Sea

Using observational data of Argos satellite-tracked drifters from 1988 to 2012, we analyzed seasonal characteristics of the surface Kuroshio branch(KB) intrusion into the South China Sea(SCS). The analysis results are as *** surface KB originates from the southern Balintang Channel(BLTC) and Babuyan Channel(BBYC). It begins in late September, reaches peak strength in November–December, and declines at the end of March. The mean speed of drifters along the KB path during their traverse of the Luzon Strait(LS) was 43% faster than during the two days before entering the LS for the flow originating from the southern BLTC, but there was a 24% increase in speed for the flow from the BBYC. The observations show that in winter, monthly-mean sea-level anomalies(SLAs) were positive southwest of Taiwan Island and extended to the northern LS. The SLAs were negative northwest of Luzon Island and extended to the southern LS, which acted like a pump, forcing a part of Kuroshio water westward into the SCS. The condition under which the KB forms was solved by a set of simplified motion equations. The results indicate that whether the KB can form depends upon the sea-level gradient at the central LS and region to the west, as well as the location, speed and direction of Kuroshio surface water when it enters the LS.

The East Tianshan contains many late Paleozoic magmatic and polymetallic *** studies demonstrate that the early Paleozoic volcanic rocks discovered in the northern region of East Tianshan can be subdivided into the Daliugou,Hongliuxia and Kalatag ***,we report zircon U-Pb ages of volcanic rocks and quartz diorite porphyry,together with whole-rock geochemical and Sr-Nd isotope data of early Paleozoic volcanic rocks,in order to investigate their petrogenesis and geodynamic *** U-Pb analyses of the rocks suggest that the Kalatag Formation formed at ca.438-413 *** characteristics of the early Paleozoic volcanic rocks exhibit typical subduction-related *** have high Mg^(#)(44-75),positiveε_(Nd)(t)values(0.25-7.88),low^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr ratios(0.70457 to 0.70588)and young two-stage Hf isotope model ages(551-446 Ma),consistent with a depleted mantle origin with limited crustal *** basaltic andesite and andesite have relatively high MgO contents(6.1-9.4 wt%),suggesting that they belong to high-magnesian *** were most likely derived from the partial melting of mantle peridotite caused by the addition of fluids released by subducted oceanic *** on regional geology,geochemical characteristics and previous studies,we infer that the southward subduction of the Junggar Ocean slab resulted in the generation of early Paleozoic volcanic rocks and arc setting-related metallogenic systems in the Kalatag area.

The mechanism of the banded structure of drifting macroalgae in the Yellow Sea

At the end of May 2008,a massive bloom of macroalgae occurred in the western Yellow Sea off China and lasted for nearly two months,and annual blooms have occurred since then on. During bloom period,the surface-drifting macroalgae have showed an interesting pattern dominated by a banded structure,and the distance between neighboring bands ranged from hundreds of meters to about 6 km with a peak at 1–1.5 km,which is an order of higher than the scale of Langmuir circulation of 50–100 m. In order to explain this new phenomenon,ocean current data obtained from a Doppler current profiler off Qingdao was used to implement stability analysis. By numerically solving the resulting differential Orr-Sommerfeld equation,the secondary circulation induced from the instability of the Emkan current was found to fit well with the observed spatial scale of the surface-drifting macroalgae’s banded structure. As the wind driven Emkan current exist universally in the global ocean,it is reasonable to conclude that the banded structure with kilometers distance between adjoining bands is ubiquitous. We found a new circulation in the upper ocean which is important for exchange of energy,materials and gas between the upper ocean and subsurface layer.
