Prognostic and clinical value of circPRKCI expression in diverse human cancers

Background:Highly expressed in various human cancers,circular RNA Protein Kinase C Iota(circPRKCI)has been reported to play an important role in cancer development and progression.Herein,we sought to reveal the prognostic and clinical value of circPRKCI expression in diverse human cancers.Methods:We searched the Pubmed,Web of Science,and the Cochrane Library databases from inception until May 16,2021.The relationship between circPRKCI expression and cancer patients’survival,including overall survival(OS)and disease-free survival(DFS),was assessed by pooled hazard ratios(HR)with corresponding 95%confidence interval(CI).The correlation between circPRKCI expression and clinical outcomes was evaluated using odds ratios(OR)with corresponding 95%CI.The data were analyzed by STATA software(version 12.0)or Review Manager(RevMan 5.3).Results:A total of 15 studies with 1109 patients were incorporated into our meta-analysis.The results demonstrated that high circPRKCI expression was significantly related to poor OS(HR=1.96,95%CI:1.61,2.39,P<0.001)when compared with low circPRKCI expression in diverse human cancers.However,elevated circPRKCI expression was not associated with DFS(HR=1.34,95%CI:0.93,1.95,P=0.121).Furthermore,the patient with a higher circPRKCI expression was prone to have a larger tumor size,advanced clinical stage,and lymph node metastasis,but it was not significantly correlated with age,gender,and distant metastasis.Conclusion:Elevated circPRKCI expression was correlated with worse OS and unfavorable clinical features,suggesting a novel prognostic and predictive role of circPRKCI in diverse human cancers.

Complement C1q was proved to be able to regulate the polarization of macrophages to the anti-inflammatory phenotype(M2 polarized),acting as an anti-inflammation molecule independent of the classical complement pathway.A high level of C1q expression has been detected in the tumor microenvironment(TME)of diverse tumors,including non-small cell lung cancer,in which C1q could be considered a predictor of poor prognosis.

Evolution of microstructure and texture of AZ80 magnesium alloy under hot torsion with constant decreasing temperature rate

Hot torsion tests for AZ80 magnesium alloy were carried out in the temperature range of 380℃-260℃,with a constant decreasing temperature rate of 10℃/s in order to weaken the basal texture and refine the grains.The results indicated that the average grain sizes were refined forming gradient structure with increasing specimen radial position from center(12.2-5.4μm),and that the initial basal texture intensity of the extruded magnesium alloy was weakened from 46.2 to 8.3.Furthermore,the extension twins(ETs)could be disintegrated from the twins forming separated twins with smaller sizes.Interestingly,ETs with the same twin variant intersecting with each other could be coalesced forming grains with similar orientation,while ETs with different twin variants were separated by twins boundaries contributing to grain refinement.Moreover,in addition to the conventional continuous dynamic recrystallized(CDRX)grains with 30˚orientation rotated around C-axis of the parent grains,CDRXed grains with 30˚rotation around a-axis and random rotation axis were also discerned.Besides,the CDRX evolution induced twins were also elaborated,exhibiting the complex competition between CDRX and twining.Hot torsion deformation with constant decreasing temperatures rate is an effective way of grain refinement and texture modification.

Network localization serves as a fundamental component for enabling various position based operations in multi-agent systems,facilitating tasks like target searching and formation control by providing accurate position information for all nodes in the network.Network localization focuses on the challenge of determining the positions of nodes within a network,relying on the known positions of anchor nodes and internode relative measurements.Over the past few decades,distributed network localization has garnered significant attention from researchers.This paper aims to provide a review of main results and advancements in the field of distributed network localization,with a particular focus on the perspective of graph Laplacian.Owning to its favorable characteristics,graph Laplacian unifies various network localization,even when dealing with diverse types of internode relative measurements,into a unified protocol framework,which can be constructed by a linear method and ensure the global convergence.

Safety criteria based on barrier function under the framework of boundedness for some dynamic systems

Barrier functions have been reported to be useful in quantifying the safety of some dynamic systems. Usually, when using the barrier functions, we try to transform safety analysis issues of dynamic systems into a class of reachability issues from a safe set to an unsafe set. This article presents a novel sufficient safety criterion for some dynamic systems. The proposed criterion is based on the barrier function and works as long as the upper bound of the barrier function is kept non-positive. Further, we present a mathematical description of fault safety for some dynamic system that experienced a fault at a certain time and propose a corresponding fault safety criterion for the aforementioned system.

The effects of deformation parameters and cooling rates on the aging behavior of AZ80+0.4%Ce

The extruded AZ80+0.4%Ce magnesium alloy was twisted in the temperature range of 300-380℃by using a Gleeble 3500 thermal simulation test machine with a torsion unit.The deformed cylindrical specimens were cooled at a cooling rate of 10℃/s or 0.1℃/s,respectively,and aged at 170℃.The microstructure analysis results showed that the grain size decreased with increasing specimen radial position from center(SRPC),and that the strong initial basal texture of the extruded magnesium alloy was weakened.Both continuous and discontinuous dynamic recrystallization mechanisms were involved in contributing to the grain refinement for all specimens investigated.And a novel extension twinning induced dynamic recrystallization mechanism was proposed for specimen deformed at 300℃.For the specimens deformed at 300℃and 340℃followed by a slow cooling rate(0.1℃/s),precipitates of various shapes(β-Mg_(17)Al_(12)),with the dominant precipitates being on the grains boundaries,appeared on the surface section.For specimen deformed at 380℃,lamellar precipitates(LPS)in the interiors of the grains were predominant.After aging,the LPS still dominated for specimens twisted at 380℃;however,the LPS gradually decreased with decreasing deformation temperatures from 380℃to 300℃.Dynamically precipitatedβ,especially those decorating the grain boundaries,changed the competition pictures for the LPS and precipitates of other shapes after aging.Interestingly,LPS dominated the areas for the center section of the specimens after aging regardless of deformation temperatures.Low temperature deformation with high SRPC followed by rapid cooling rate increased the micro hardness of the alloy after aging due to refined grain,reduced precipitates size,decreased lamellar spacing as well as strain hardening.

Exponential-Alpha Safety Criteria of a Class of Dynamic Systems With Barrier Functions

A classic kind of researches about the operational safety criterion for dynamic systems with barrier function can be roughly summarized as functional relationship,denoted by⊕,between the barrier function and its first derivative for time t,where⊕can be“=”,“”,etc.This article draws on the form of the stable condition expression for finite time stability to formulate a novel kind of relaxed safety judgement criteria called exponential-alpha safety criteria.Moreover,we initially explore to use the control barrier function under exponential-alpha safety criteria to achieve the control for the dynamic system operational safety.In addition,derived from the actual process systems,we propose multi-hypersphere methods which are used to construct barrier functions and improved them for three types of special spatial relationships between the safe state set and the unsafe state set,where both of them can be spatially divided into multiple subsets.And the effectiveness of the proposed safety criteria are demonstrated by simulation examples.

Performance of Gas-Steam Combined Cycle Cogeneration Units Influenced by Heating Network Terminal Steam Parameters

The determination of source-side extracted heating parameters is of great significance to the economic operation of cogeneration systems.This paper investigated the coupling performance of a cogeneration heating and power system multidimensionally based on the operating characteristics of the cogeneration units,the hydraulic and thermodynamic characteristics of the heating network,and the energy loads.Taking a steam network supported by a gas-steam combined cycle cogeneration system as the research case,the interaction effect among the source-side prime movers,the heating networks,and the terminal demand thermal parameters were investigated based on the designed values,the plant testing data,and the validated simulation.The operating maps of the gas-steam combined cycle cogeneration units were obtained using THERMOFLEX,and the minimum source-side steam parameters of the steam network were solved using an inverse solution procedure based on the hydro-thermodynamic coupling model.The cogeneration operating maps indicate that the available operating domain considerably narrows with the rise of the extraction steam pressure and flow rate.The heating network inverse solution demonstrates that the source-side steam pressure and temperature can be optimized from the originally designed 1.11 MPa and 238.8°C to 1.074 MPa and 191.15°C,respectively.Under the operating strategy with the minimum source-side heating parameters,the power peak regulation depth remarkably increases to 18.30%whereas the comprehensive thermal efficiency decreases.The operation under the minimum source-side heating steam parameters can be superior to the originally designed one in the economy at a higher price of the heating steam.At a fuel price of$0.38/kg and the power to fuel price of 0.18 kg/(kW·h),the critical price ratio of heating steam to fuel is 119.1 kg/t.The influence of the power-fuel price ratio on the economic deviation appears relatively weak.

A Novel CCA-NMF Whitening Method for Practical Machine Learning Based Underwater Direction of Arrival Estimation

Underwater direction of arrival(DOA)estimation has always been a very challenging theoretical and practical problem.Due to the serious non-stationary,non-linear,and non-Gaussian characteristics,machine learning based DOA estimation methods trained on simulated Gaussian noised array data cannot be directly applied to actual underwater DOA estimation tasks.In order to deal with this problem,environmental data with no target echoes can be employed to analyze the non-Gaussian components.Then,the obtained information about non-Gaussian components can be used to whiten the array data.Based on these considerations,a novel practical sonar array whitening method was proposed.Specifically,based on a weak assumption that the non-Gaussian components in adjacent patches with and without target echoes are almost the same,canonical cor-relation analysis(CCA)and non-negative matrix factorization(NMF)techniques are employed for whitening the array data.With the whitened array data,machine learning based DOA estimation models trained on simulated Gaussian noised datasets can be used to perform underwater DOA estimation tasks.Experimental results illustrated that,using actual underwater datasets for testing with known machine learning based DOA estimation models,accurate and robust DOA estimation performance can be achieved by using the proposed whitening method in different underwater con-ditions.

Emerging and recurrent infectious diseases caused by human coronaviruses(HCoVs)continue to pose a significant threat to global public health security.In light of this ongoing threat,the development of a broad-spectrum drug to combat HCoVs is an urgently priority.Herein,we report a series of anti-pan-coronavirus ssDNA aptamers screened using Systematic Evolution of Ligands by Exponential Enrichment(SELEX).These aptamers have nanomolar affinity with the nucleocapsid protein(NP)of Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)and also show excellent binding efficiency to the N proteins of both SARS,MERS,HCoV-OC43 and-NL63 with affinity KD values of 1.31 to 135.36 nM.Such aptamer-based therapeutics exhibited potent antiviral activity against both the authentic SARS-CoV-2 prototype strain and the Omicron variant(BA.5)with EC50 values at 2.00 nM and 41.08 nM,respectively.The protein docking analysis also evidenced that these aptamers exhibit strong affinities for N proteins of pan-coronavirus and other HCoVs(−229E and-HKU1).In conclusion,we have identified six aptamers with a high pan-coronavirus antiviral activity,which could potentially serve as an effective strategy for preventing infections by unknown coronaviruses and addressing the ongoing global health threat.
