Nausea and vomiting are important defensive responses to cope with pathogens and toxins that invade the body. The nucleus of the solitary tract(NTS) is important for initiating these responses. However, the molecular heterogeneities and cellular diversities of the NTS occlude a better understanding of these defensive responses. Here, we constructed the single-nucleus transcriptomic atlas of NTS cells and found multiple populations of NTS neurons that may be involved in these defensive responses. Among these, we identified Calbindin1-positive(Calb1+) NTS neurons that are molecularly distinct from Tac1+neurons.These Calb1+neurons are critical for nausea and retching induced by cereulide; an emetic toxin secreted by Bacillus Cereus. Strikingly, we found that cereulide can directly modulate vagal sensory neurons that innervate Calb1+NTS neurons, a novel mechanism distinct from that for nausea and retching induced by Staphylococcal enterotoxin A. Together, our transcriptomic atlas of NTS neurons and the functional analyses revealed the neural mechanism for cereulide-induced retching-like behavior. These results demonstrate the molecular and cellular complexities in the brain that underlie defensive responses to the diversities of pathogens and toxins.

Network localization serves as a fundamental component for enabling various position based operations in multi-agent systems,facilitating tasks like target searching and formation control by providing accurate position information for all nodes in the network.Network localization focuses on the challenge of determining the positions of nodes within a network,relying on the known positions of anchor nodes and internode relative measurements.Over the past few decades,distributed network localization has garnered significant attention from researchers.This paper aims to provide a review of main results and advancements in the field of distributed network localization,with a particular focus on the perspective of graph Laplacian.Owning to its favorable characteristics,graph Laplacian unifies various network localization,even when dealing with diverse types of internode relative measurements,into a unified protocol framework,which can be constructed by a linear method and ensure the global convergence.

Circular dichroism (CD) is extensively used in various material systems for applications including biological detection,enantioselective catalysis,and chiral separation.This paper introduces a chiral absorptive metasurface that exhibits a circular polarization-selective effect in dual bands-positive and negative CD peaks at short wavelengths and long wavelengths,respectively.Significantly,we uncover that this phenomenon extends beyond the far-field optical response,as it is also observed in the photothermal effect and the dynamics of thermally induced fluid motion.By carefully engineering the metasurface design,we achieve two distinct CD signals with high g factors (1) at the wavelengths of 877 nm and 1045 nm,respectively.The findings presented in this study advance our comprehension of CD and offer promising prospects for enhancing chiral light–matter interactions in the domains of nanophotonics and optofluidics.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)causes multi-organ damage,which includes hepatic dysfunction,as observed in over 50%of COVID-19 patients.Angiotensin I converting enzyme(peptidyl-dipeptidase A)2(ACE2)is the primary receptor for SARS-CoV-2 entry into host cells,and studies have shown the presence of intracellular virus particles in human hepatocytes that express ACE2,but at extremely low levels.Consequently,we asked if hepatocytes might express receptors other than ACE2 capable of promoting the entry of SARS-CoV-2 into cells.To address this question,we performed a genome-wide CRISPR-Cas9 activation library screening and found that Asialoglycoprotein receptor 1(ASGR1)promoted SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus infection of HeLa cells.In Huh-7 cells,simultaneous knockout of ACE2 and ASGR1 prevented SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus infection.In the immortalized THLE-2 hepatocyte cell line and primary hepatic parenchymal cells,both of which barely expressed ACE2,SARSCoV-2 pseudovirus could successfully establish an infection.However,after treatment with ASGR1 antibody or siRNA targeting ASGR1,the infection rate significantly dropped,suggesting that SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus infects hepatic parenchymal cells mainly through an ASGR1-dependent mechanism.We confirmed that ASGR1 could interact with Spike protein,which depends on receptor binding domain(RBD)and N-terminal domain(NTD).Finally,we also used Immunohistochemistry and electron microscopy to verify that SARS-CoV-2 could infect primary hepatic parenchymal cells.After inhibiting ASGR1 in primary hepatic parenchymal cells by siRNA,the infection efficiency of the live virus decreased significantly.Collectively,these findings indicate that ASGR1 is a candidate receptor for SARS-CoV-2 that promotes infection of hepatic parenchymal cells.

以对称层合板结构为对象,基于经典层合板理论,将其等效为单层各项异性板,采用FE-BEM法(hybrid finite element-boundary element method)分析了其在宽频噪声激励作用下的隔声特性。为验证等效方法的适用性,开展对称复合材料层合板模态测试和数值分析;为验证预估结论的正确性,将FE-BEM法结果与FE-SEA法(hybrid finite element-statistic energy analysis)结果、试验结果分别进行对比。结果表明:将等效方法用于对称层合板固有特性模拟是正确的,等效层合板的固有特性的仿真结果与试验值一致,误差在6.9%以内;等效方法和FE-BEM法结合进行对称层合板隔声预计是有效的,FE-BEM法预计结果与试验结果吻合良好;等效方法和FE-SEA法结合进行对称层合板隔声预计也是有效的,FE-BEM法比FE-SEA法所建模型计算耗时长,算例中计算耗时增大4.4%。

On the Convergence of Asynchronous Parallel Iteration with Unbounded Delays

Recent years have witnessed the surge of asynchronous parallel(asyncparallel)iterative algorithms due to problems involving very large-scale data and a large number of decision variables.Because of asynchrony,the iterates are computed with outdated information,and the age of the outdated information,which we call delay,is the number of times it has been updated since its creation.Almost all recent works prove convergence under the assumption of a finite maximum delay and set their stepsize parameters accordingly.However,the maximum delay is practically unknown.This paper presents convergence analysis of an async-parallel method from a probabilistic viewpoint,and it allows for large unbounded delays.An explicit formula of stepsize that guarantees convergence is given depending on delays’statistics.With p+1 identical processors,we empirically measured that delays closely follow the Poisson distribution with parameter p,matching our theoretical model,and thus,the stepsize can be set accordingly.Simulations on both convex and nonconvex optimization problems demonstrate the validness of our analysis and also show that the existing maximum-delay-induced stepsize is too conservative,often slows down the convergence of the algorithm.

为了探索流固弱耦合计算在推进泵上应用的可行性和有效性,完成了某转子静强度、动强度和振动模态计算与分析。首先,完成泵稳态和瞬态流场CFD计算,提取水动力载荷数据;然后,采用流固弱耦合方法对结构完成稳态和瞬态计算,提取静应力和动应力以及最大变形,校核静强度和动强度;最后,完成流固耦合条件下转子模态分析,得到模态频率和特征振型。结果表明:转子叶片最大应力位于叶根处、最大位移位于叶梢截面近随边处;转子叶片应力满足材料的强度要求,变形量小于叶顶间隙值;湿模态振型与干模态基本一致,但振型幅值明显降低、模态频率降低。该流固弱耦合计算方法能够用于泵转子结构设计与振动谐响应分析,有助于提升设计质量。

Geochronology and Petrochemistry of Volcanic Rocks in the Xaignabouli Area, NW Laos

An integrated study of zircon U-Pb geochronology and petrochemistry, together with zircon Lu-Hf isotopes, has been carried out on the basaltic-andesitic tuff and volcanic breccia from the Nam Hang Formation and andesitic tuff from the Muang-Nan Formation in the Xaignabouli area, which had been mapped as the Permian–Early Triassic on the 1 : 1 000 000 geological map or Late Carboniferous on the 1 : 200 000 geological maps. Zircon U-Pb dating of three samples yielded weighted mean ages of 235±2.6, 232±1.4 and 278±2.8 Ma, respectively, suggesting a Late Triassic origin for the Nam Hang Formation and an Early Permian origin for the Muang-Nan Formation. Geochemically, they are characterized by depletions in HFSEs(e.g., Nb, Ta, Ti) and high LILE/HFSE ratios, and they have positive zircon ε_(Hf)(t) values of 8.7–15.9, which exhibits the continental arc volcanic affinity and partial melting of subducting oceanic slab in the magma source. Combined with spatial occurrence of the volcanic rock and existing geochronological and geochemical data, we suggest that the Xaignabouli-Luang Prabang volcanic belt can be linked to the Loei-Phetchabun belt. The Permian–Triassic volcanic rocks in this belt might be a product of the Nan back-arc basin eastward subduction.
