Origin and evolution of a new tetraploid mangrove species in an intertidal zone

Polyploidy is a major factor in the evolution of plants,yet we know little about the origin and evolution of polyploidy in intertidal *** study aimed to identify the evolutionary transitions in three truemangrove species of the genus Acanthus distributed in the Indo-West Pacific *** this purpose,we took an integrative approach that combined data on morphology,cytology,climatic niche,phylogeny,and biogeography of 493 samples from 42 geographic *** results show that the Acanthus ilicifolius lineage distributed east of the Thai-Malay Peninsula possesses a tetraploid karyotype,which is morphologically distinct from that of the lineage on the west *** haplotype networks and phylogenetic trees for the chloroplast genome and eight nuclear genes reveal that the tetraploid species has two sub-genomes,one each from *** and ***,the paternal and maternal parents,*** structure analysis also supports the hybrid speciation history of the new tetraploid *** two sub-genomes of the tetraploid species diverged from their diploid progenitors during the *** niche models revealed that the tetraploid species not only occupied the near-entire niche space of the diploids,but also expanded into novel *** findings suggest that *** species distributed on the east side of the Thai-Malay Peninsula should be regarded as a new species,***,which originated from hybridization between *** and ***,followed by chromosome *** is the first report of a true-mangrove allopolyploid species that can reproduce sexually and clonally reproduction,which explains the long-term adaptive potential of the species.

Source apportionment and specific-source-site risk of quinolone antibiotics for effluent-receiving urban rivers and groundwater in a city, China

There is a large surface-groundwater exchange downstream ofwastewater treatment plants(WWTPs),and antibiotics upstream may influence sites downstream of ***,samples from 9 effluent-receiving urban rivers(ERURs)and 12 groundwater sites were collected in Shijiazhuang City in December 2020 and April *** ERURs,8 out of 13 target quinolone antibiotics(QNs)were detected,and the total concentration of QNs in December and April were 100.6-4,398 ng/L and 8.02–2,476 ng/L,*** groundwater,all target QNs were detected,and the total QNs concentration was 1.09–23.03 ng/L for December and 4.54–170.3 ng/L for *** distribution of QNs was dissimilar between ERURs and *** QN concentrations were weakly correlated with land use types in the *** results of a positive matrix factorization model(PMF)indicated four potential sources of QNs in both ERURs and groundwater,and WWTP effluents were the main source of *** December to April,the contribution of WWTP effluents and agricultural emissions increased,while livestock activities *** value decomposition(SVD)results showed that the spatial variation of most QNs was mainly contributed by sites downstream(7.09%-88.86%)of ***,a new method that combined the results of SVD and PMF was developed for a specific-source-site risk quotient(SRQ),and the SRQ for QNs was at high level,especially for the sites downstream of *** temporal variation,the SRQ for WWTP effluents,aquaculture,and agricultural emissions ***,in order to control the antibiotic pollution,more attention should be paid to WWTP effluents,aquaculture,and agricultural emission sources for the benefit of sites downstream of WWTPs.

Selenium Regulates Antioxidant Capacities and Diterpenoid Biosynthesis in the Medicinal Plant Isodon rubescens

Dōng líng căo,the dried aboveground parts of Isodon rubescens(Hemls.)Hara.,is commonly consumed as a med-icinal decoction or tea *** beverages can be an important source of human dietary selenium(Se).However,how *** plants respond to exogenous Se remains *** this study,a pot cultivation experiment was employed to investigate the phenotypic and physiological responses of *** plants exposed to *** days after applying different concentrations of sodium selenate to the soil,the Se enrichment capa-city,growth indices,antioxidant capacities,and the content ofﬂavonoids and diterpenoids were measured in the ***,the oridonin content was quantiﬁed using the high-performance liquid chromatography method,and the expression levels of key diterpenoid synthesis genes were analyzed by quantitative real-time PCR(qRT-PCR).*** plants efﬁciently accumulated Se,with the Se content increasing proportionally to the applied dose,reaching levels of nearly 200 mg·kg^(-1) dry leaves as Se concentration *** of the three Se treat-ments signiﬁcantly altered the phenotypic indices,except a longer root length occurred in the 3μM·kg^(-1) Se *** three Se doses,6μM·kg^(-1) Se gave the highest accumulation ofﬂavonoids,diterpenoids,and oridonin,with the increase of 2.0-,1.8-,and 1.9-fold in aboveground parts,*** application boosted the activities of antioxidant enzymes and antioxidant capacities according to 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH),ferric reducing/antioxidant power,and tea brewing color *** key synthase genes were upregulated signiﬁcantly by 6μM·kg^(-1) Se treatment,notably 1-deoxy-D-xylulose 5-phosphate reductoisomerase(IrDXR),with a 5-fold increase,and kaurene synthase-like 4(IrKSL4),with a 6-fold ***,Se application in *** cultivation may be a potential biofortiﬁcation method to supplement Se while increasingﬂavonoid and diterpenoid contents.

Coexistence of liver abscess, hepatic cystic echinococcosis and hepatocellular carcinoma: A case report
