The clinical,radiological,and surgical characteristics of anterior perforated substance glioma:a retrospective study

Background To explore the clinical,radiological,and surgical characteristics of anterior perforated substance(APS)gliomas.Methods Twenty patients with APS glioma who were treated with surgery between March 2019 and January 2022 from Tiantan hospital were retrospectively reviewed.The clinical,histological and radiological data were collected.Results Twenty patients,including 7 males(55%)and 13 females(45%),with a mean age at diagnosis of 37.9 years(range,28-53 years)underwent operative intervention for APS.Headaches and dizziness were the most common preoperative symptoms in the majority patients(14,70%).Based on radiological features of MRI,the APS was classified into two subtypes,type A and type B.Seven patients(40%)in type A indicated a clear tumor margin,while 13 patients(60%)in type B showed an ill-defined margin.The surgical approach including frontal,temporal,and coronal frontal incisions for type A and type B tumors,respectively.Three patients in type A received total resection,while one patient in type B were total resected.Pathologically,12 cases(60%,12/20)were diagnosed as astrocytoma and 8 cases(20%,8/20)were oligodendroglioma.Meanwhile,17 cases(85%,17/20)had MGMT promotor methylation.Conclusion In this study,we performed the first systematic research of patients with APS glioma.Most of patients with APS presented headaches and dizziness symptoms.The APS glioma was further divided into two major radiological subtypes with relevant different surgical approaches.The APS glioma in type A were more likely to receive total resection.

Bismuth vanadate(BiVO_(4))is a promising photoanode material for efficient photoelectrochemical(PEC)water splitting,whereas its performance is inhibited by detrimental surface states.To solve the problem,herein,a low-cost organic molecule 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid(BTC)is selected for surface passivation of BiVO_(4) photoanodes(BVOs),which also provides bonding sites for Co^(2+)to anchor,resulting in a Co-BTC-BVO photoanode.Owing to its strong coordination with metal ions,BTC not only passivates surface states of BVO,but also provides bonding between BVO and catalytic active sites(Co^(2+))to form a molecular cocatalyst.Computational study and interfacial charge kinetic investigation reveal that chemical bonding formed at the interface greatly suppresses charge recombination and accelerates charge transfer.The obtained Co-BTC-BVO photoanode exhibits a photocurrent density of 4.82 mA/cm^(2) at 1.23 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE)and a low onset potential of 0.22 VRHE under AM 1.5 G illumination,which ranks among the best photoanodes coupled with Co-based cocatalysts.This work presents a novel selection of passivation layers and emphasizes the significance of interfacial chemical bonding for the construction of efficient photoanodes.

Phase-Based Optical Flow Method with Optimized Parameter Settings for Enhancing Displacement Measurement Adaptability

To enhance the applicability and measurement accuracy of phase-based optical flow method using complex steerable pyramids in structural displacement measurement engineering applications, an improved method of optimizing parameter settings is proposed. The optimized parameters include the best measurement points of the Region of Interest (ROI) and the levels of pyramid filters. Additionally, to address the issue of updating reference frames in practical applications due to the difficulty in estimating the maximum effective measurement value, a mechanism for dynamically updating reference frames is introduced. Experimental results demonstrate that compared to representative image gradient-based displacement measurement methods, the proposed method exhibits higher measurement accuracy in engineering applications. This provides reliable data support for structural damage identification research based on vibration signals and is expected to broaden the engineering application prospects for structural health monitoring.

Enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen production from Co-MOF/CN by nitrogen and sulfur co-doped coal-based carbon quantum dots

A novel composite photocatalyst for photocatalytic decomposition of water for hydrogen evolution was successfully synthesized by in-situ growth of nitrogen and sulfur co-doped coal-based carbon quantum dots(NSCQDs)nanoparticles on the surface of sheet cobalt-based metal-organic framework(Co-MOF)and graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4),CN).The structure and properties of the obtained catalysts were systematically analyzed.NSCQDs effectively broaden the absorption of Co-MOF and CN in the visible region.The new composite photocatalyst has high hydrogen production activity and the hydrogen production rate reaches 6254μmol/(g·h)at pH=9.At the same time,NSCQDs synergy Co-MOF/CN composites have good stability.After four cycles of hydrogen production,the performance remains relatively stable.The tran sient photocurrent response and Nyquist plot experimental results further demonstrate the improvement of carrier separation efficiency in composite catalysts.The semiconductor type(n-type semico nductor)of the single-phase catalyst was determined by the Mott-Schottky test,and the band structure was analyzed.The conductive and valence bands of CN are-0.99 and 1.72 eV,respectively,and the conduction and valence bands of Co-MOF are-1.85 and 1.33 eV,respectively.Th e mechanism of the photocatalytic reaction can be inferred,that is,Z-type heterojunction is formed between CN an d Co-MOF,and NSCQDs was used as cocatalyst.

Efficient degradation of aqueous dichloromethane by an enhanced microbial electrolysis cell:Degradation kinetics,microbial community and metabolic mechanisms

Dichloromethane(DCM)has been listed as a toxic and harmful water pollutant,and its re moval needs attention.Microbial electrolysis cells(MECs)are viewed as a promising alterna tive for pollutant removal,which can be strengthened from two aspects:microbial inocula tion and acclimation.In this study,the MEC for DCM degradation was inoculated with the ac tive sludge enhanced by Methylobacterium rhodesianum H13(strain H13)and then acclimated in the form of a microbial fuel cell(MFC).Both the introduction of strain H13 and the initi ation in MFC form significantly promoted DCM degradation.The degradation kinetics were fitted by the Haldane model,with V_(max),K_(h),K_(i)and v_(max)values of 103.2 mg/L/hr,97.8 mg/L268.3 mg/L and 44.7 mg/L/hr/cm^(2),respectively.The cyclic voltammogram implies that DCM redox reactions became easier with the setup of MEC,and the electrochemical impedance spectrogram shows that the acclimated and enriched microbes reduced the charge transfe resistance from the electrode to the electrolyte.In the biofilm,the dominant genera shifted from Geobacter to Hyphomicrobium in acclimation stages.Moreover,Methylobacterium played an increasingly important role.DCM metabolism mainly occurred through the hydrolytic glutathione S-transferase pathway,given that the gene dcmA was identified rather than the dhlA and P450/MO.The exogenous electrons facilitated the reduction of GSSG,directly o indirectly accelerating the GSH-catalyzed dehalogenation.This study provides support fo the construction of an efficient and stable MEC for DCM removal in water environment.

S-scheme heterojunction in photocatalytic hydrogen production

As an ideal secondary energy source,hydrogen has the title of clean energy and the product of its complete combustion is only water,which is not polluting to the environment.Photocatalytic hydrogen production technology is an environmentally friendly,safe,and low-cost strategy that requires only an inexhaustible amount of solar energy and water as feedstock.This paper provides a detailed and detailed review of S-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts for photocatalytic hydrogen production,mainly including TiO_(2)-based,Perovskite-based,CdS-based,Graphitic phase carbon nitride-based,COF-based graphdiyne-based,ZnO-based,and ZnIn_(2)S_(4)-based S-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts.The classification of S-scheme heterojunctions is summarized.What’s more,various characterizations for direct verification of the charge migration mechanism of S-scheme heterojunctions are outlined.Based on the present study,the future potential challenges and future research trends for S-scheme heterojunctions in photocatalytic hydrogen evolution technology are pointed out,which provides feasible strategies for the development and design of S-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts in the field of photocatalytic hydrogen evolution.

A Dual-Task Learning Approach for Bearing Anomaly Detection and State Evaluation of Safe Region

Predictive maintenance has emerged as an effective tool for curbing maintenance costs,yet prevailing research predominantly concentrates on the abnormal phases.Within the ostensibly stable healthy phase,the reliance on anomaly detection to preempt equipment malfunctions faces the challenge of sudden anomaly discernment.To address this challenge,this paper proposes a dual-task learning approach for bearing anomaly detection and state evaluation of safe regions.The proposed method transforms the execution of the two tasks into an optimization issue of the hypersphere center.By leveraging the monotonicity and distinguishability pertinent to the tasks as the foundation for optimization,it reconstructs the SVDD model to ensure equilibrium in the model’s performance across the two tasks.Subsequent experiments verify the proposed method’s effectiveness,which is interpreted from the perspectives of parameter adjustment and enveloping trade-offs.In the meantime,experimental results also show two deficiencies in anomaly detection accuracy and state evaluation metrics.Their theoretical analysis inspires us to focus on feature extraction and data collection to achieve improvements.The proposed method lays the foundation for realizing predictive maintenance in a healthy stage by improving condition awareness in safe regions.

Memory-enhanced text style transfer with dynamic style learning and calibration

Text style transfer aims to rephrase a sentence to match the desired style while retaining the original content. As a controllable text generation task, mainstream approaches use content-independent style embedding as control variables to guide stylistic generation. Nonetheless, stylistic properties are contextsensitive even under the same style. For example, “delicious” and “helpful” convey positive sentiments,although they are more likely to describe food and people, respectively. Therefore, desired style signals must vary with the content. To this end, we propose a memory-enhanced transfer method, which learns fine-grained style representation concerning content to assist transfer. Rather than employing static style embedding or latent variables, our method abstracts linguistic characteristics from training corpora and memorizes subdivided content with the corresponding style representations. The style signal is dynamically retrieved from memory using the content as a query, providing a more expressive and flexible latent style space. To address the imbalance between quantity and quality in different content, we further introduce a calibration method to augment memory construction by modeling the relationship between candidate styles.Experimental results obtained using three benchmark datasets confirm the superior performance of our model compared to competitive approaches. The evaluation metrics and case study also indicate that our model can generate diverse stylistic phrases matching context.

Comparative profiling of immune genes improves the prognoses of lower grade gliomas

Objective:Lower grade gliomas(LGGs),classified as World Health Organization(WHO)grade II and grade III gliomas,comprise a heterogeneous group with a median survival time ranging from 4–13 years.Accurate prediction of the survival times of LGGs remains a major challenge in clinical practice.Methods:We reviewed the expression data of 865 LGG patients from 5 transcriptomics cohorts.The comparative profile of immune genes was analyzed for signature identification and validation.In-house RNAseq and microarray data from the Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas(CGGA)dataset were used as training and internal validation cohorts,respectively.The samples from The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)and GSE16011 cohorts were used as external validation cohorts,and the real-time PCR of frozen LGG tissue samples(n=36)were used for clinical validation.Results:A total of 2,214 immune genes were subjected to pairwise comparison to generate 2,449,791 immune-related gene pairs(IGPs).A total of 402 IGPs were identified with prognostic values for LGGs.The HOXA9-related and CRH-related scores facilitated identification of patients with different prognoses.An immune signature based on 10 IGPs was constructed to stratify patients into low and high risk groups,exhibiting different clinical outcomes.A nomogram,combining immune signature,1p/19q status,and tumor grade,was able to predict the overall survival(OS)with c-indices of 0.85,0.80,0.80,0.79,and 0.75 in the training,internal validation,external validation,and tissue sample cohorts,respectively.Conclusions:This study was the first to report a comparative profiling of immune genes in large LGG cohorts.A promising individualized immune signature was developed to estimate the survival time for LGG patients.
