Salt tolerance of crops is becoming more and more important, owing to the constant increase of salinity in arid and semi-arid regions. Broomcorn millet(Panicum miliaceum L.),generally considered tolerant to salinity, can be an alternative crop for salt affected *** assess genotypic variation for vegetative-stage salinity tolerance, 195 broomcorn millet accessions from a core collection were evaluated for germination percentage, shoot length,and root length during germination in 8 m L of deionized water(control) or 8 m L of a120 mmol L-1salt solution(treatment). Six genotypes with different levels of salt tolerance were selected based on the growth parameters and ion concentrations in plant at the seedling stage and used for confirmation of the initial salinity response. Substantial variation for salinity tolerance was found on the basis of salt damage index [(germination percentage under control- germination percentage under salinity) / germination percentage under control × 100, SDI] and 39 accessions exhibited strong salt tolerance with SDI lower than 20%. The salt tolerance performance of the genotypes was generally consistent across experiments. In the seedling growth study, seedling number, root length and belowground biomass were adversely affected(showing more than 70%, 50%, and 32%reduction, respectively) in sensitive genotypes compared to tolerant genotypes(35%, 31%,and 3% reduction, respectively) under 160 mmol L-1Na Cl treatment. In general,whole-plant salinity tolerance was associated with increased Na+concentration and Na+/K+ratio, and salt-tolerant genotypes often had higher root and lower shoot Na+concentration than sensitive ones. Na+concentration in root was closely related to salt tolerance and may be considered as a selection criterion for screening salt tolerance of broomcorn millet at the seedling or vegetative stages.

Construction of high-throughput electrical transmission structure via tab design is an effective way of developing high-power lithium-ion batteries(LIBs). In this paper, five types of 18650-cylindrical LIBs with different tab structures were prepared to analyze the mechanism of the effects of tab structure on battery performance,including internal resistance, C-rate performance, thermal and cycle. Research showed that the number of tabs and position were important factors, which strongly decided the internal resistance of battery. By adjusting tab structure, an extremely fast charging performance surpassing 10C can be achieved. Besides, the battery showed excellent cycle stability of more than 3000 cycles at 6C, which was proved to be due to optimizing the Li-ion concentration distribution of electrodes. The work also emphasized that excessive tabs contributed to no significant improvement in electrochemical performances at normal charging/discharging rates(<1C) for 18650 *** relationship between the operation conditions and tab design is established to further guide the manufacturing.

Supercapacitors,or electric double-layer capacitors(EDLCs),are the new generation of energy storage devices to store electrical charges and provide high power densities and long cyclic life compared to other storage *** mainly consists of activated carbon electrodes and an electrolyte,and the performance of EDLC depends on the activated carbon *** this work,the structural changes of activated carbon electrodes are analyzed using commercial 2.7 V/9500F EDLCs in its manufacturing *** is found that there is no significant change in morphology and crystal structure of the activated carbon,but its specific surface area(SSA)reduced *** SSA of activated carbon was decreased by 23%after they were manufactured or converted into electrodes and finally retained only 40%of SSA after the capacitance ***,the SSA of the positive electrodes was found to decrease critically than that of the negative *** SSA of the external positive electrodes is only 14.3%after fl oating test at 65℃.

Understanding the crystal phase evolution of bimetallic oxide anodes is the main concern to profoundly reveal the conversion reaction kinetics and sodium-ion storage ***,an integrated selfsupporting anode of the Cu-decorated Cu-Mn bimetallic oxides with oxygen vacancies(Ov-BMO-Cu)are in-situ generated by phase separation and hydrogen etching using nanoporous Cu-Mn alloy as selfsacrificial *** this basis,we have elucidated the relationship between the phase evolution,oxygen vacancies and sodium-ion storage mechanisms,further demonstrating the evolution of oxygen vacancies and the inhibition effect of manganese oxides as an“anchor”on grain aggregation of copper *** kinetic analyses confirm that the expanded lattice space and increased oxygen vacancies of cycled Ov-BMO-Cu synergistically guarantee effective sodium-ion diffusion and storage ***,the Ov-BMO-Cu electrode exhibits higher reversible capacities of 4.04 mA h cm^(-2)at 0.2 mA cm^(-2)after 100 cycles and 2.20 m A h cm^(-2)at 1.0 mA cm^(-2)after 500 ***,the presodiated Ov-BMO-Cu anode delivers a considerable reversible capacity of 0.79 m A h cm^(-2)at 1.0 mA cm^(-2)after 60 cycles in full cells with Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)cathode,confirming its outstanding ***,this work is expected to provide enlightenment for designing high-capacity bimetallic oxide anodes.

A set of 132 accessions of commonmillet, Panicum miliaceum L., from12 provinces of China were assessed for endosperm starch type （waxy or non-waxy） using I2-KI staining, amylose and amylopectin contents using the dual-wavelength colorimetric method, and genotype of Waxygenes conditioning amylose content by gene sequencing. Endosperm starch content varied from 57.69% to 74.70%, while the amylose and amylopectin contents of the starch ranged from 0 to 23.29% and from 41.99% to 70.24%, respectively. Sequencing two Wx genes, including Wx-L （intron 5-exon 7 and intron 8–9） andWx-S （exon 9–intron 10） revealed several polymorphisms （S0, S？15, LC, LF, LY）. Marker M5-R11 linking to the Wx-S gene may be used to discriminate waxy common millet accessions from non-waxy ones. Among the 132 accessions, 68 with the S？15 allele had waxy endosperm starch with the amylose content range 0–2.58% and 64 accessions with the S0 allele had non-waxy endosperm starch with amylose content range 3.94%–23.29%. Five genotypes including So15/LF （45% of the accessions）, S0/LF （25%）, S0/LY （12%）, S0/LC （11%）, and S？15/LY （7%） were identified. Six new SNPs were detected at the Wx-L locus. These results will facilitate common millet breeding, especially of cultivars free of amylose.
