Research on antistatic superhydrophobic surfaces has attracted widespread attention in some fields.However,in the application of superhydrophobic materials,fabricating stable and practical superhydrophobic surfaces through facile and low-cost approaches still faces considerable challenges.Herein,a polyphenylene sulfide(PPS)-based antistatic superhydrophobic composite coating with a high water contact angle(166°)and a low sliding angle(2°)was fabricated on a Q345 steel surface through a simple spray-coating method without any modifier.Furthermore,the as-prepared superhydrophobic coating also displayed excellent superhydrophobicity for water droplets at different pH values,as well as self-cleaning,anti-fouling and anti-icing properties.Importantly,the superhydrophobic coating still exhibited superhydrophobicity after calcination at 350°C for 1 h,indicating its outstanding thermal stability.Excellent antistatic and anticorrosion properties were obtained on the prepared coating surface,which allows the coating to be applied under harsh conditions.Benefiting from the above characteristics,compared with the commercial coating,the as-obtained antistatic superhydrophobic coating may be applied more widely in related fields.

Characteristics of gut microbiota in representative mice strains:Implications for biological research

Background:Experimental animals are used to study physiological phenomena,pathological mechanisms,and disease prevention.The gut microbiome is known as a potential confounding factor for inconsistent data from preclinical studies.Although many gut microbiome studies have been conducted in recent decades,few have focused on gut microbiota fluctuation among representative mouse strains.Methods:A range of frequently used mouse strains were selected from 34 isolation packages representing disease-related animal(DRA),immunity defect animal(IDA),or gene-editing animal(GEA)from the BALB/c and C57BL/6J backgrounds together with normal mice,and their microbial genomic DNA were isolated from mouse feces to sequence for the exploration of gut microbiota.Results:Mouse background strain,classification,introduced source,introduced year,and reproduction type significantly affected the gut microbiota structure(p<0.001 for all parameters),with background strain contributing the greatest influence(R^(2)=0.237).In normal groups,distinct gut microbiota types existed in different mouse strains.Sixty-four core operational taxonomic units were obtained from normal mice,and 12 belonged to Lactobacillus.Interestingly,the gut microbiota in C57BL/6J was more stable than that in BALB/c mice.Furthermore,the gut microbiota in the IDA,GEA,and DRA groups significantly differed from that in normal groups(p<0.001 for all).Compared with the normal group,there was a significantly higher Chao 1 and Shannon index(p<0.001 for all)in the IDA,GEA,and DRA groups.Markedly changed classes occurred with Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes.The abundances of Helicobacter,Blautia,Enterobacter,Bacillus,Clostridioides,Paenibacillus,and Clostridiales all significantly decreased in the IDA,GEA,and DRA groups,whereas those of Saccharimonas,Rikenella,and Odoribacter all significantly increased.

The lubricity and anti-wear ability of ionic liquids(ILs)were studied by a current-carrying friction test on IL-lubricated carbon brushes.The results indicated that the conductivity and wear resistance of different ILs are different,and may vary for different carbon brushes.The E468e carbon brush was found to be more sensitive to IL lubrication than D172 carbon brush.Importantly,an analysis of the wear surfaces of the D172 and E468e carbon brushes revealed that,due to the different materials of the two carbon brushes and the composition of the IL,the lubrication effect on the carbon brushes was different.The viscosity of the IL will affect its wettability on the carbon brush surface.The better the wettability,the easier the movement of ions on the surface,which makes it easier to form a conductive physical adsorption film.Therefore,in practice,a better IL must be selected by considering the wettability of IL and carbon brushes.

Diabetes has become a major public health problem in China nowadays.There are almost 97 million diabetic patients nationwide.Latent autoimmune diabetes in adults(LADA)is a subtype of autoimmune diabetes.Although it has been reported for about 20 years,the diagnostic criteria of this disease remain controversial.The discussion mainly focused on serum autoantibodies,period of insulin need and age of diagnosis.Besides,β cell function,metabolic parameters,genetic factors and cell immunity may also contribute to the formulation of the criteria.Here,we aim to review and discuss the diagnostic criteria of latent autoimmune diabetes in adults.

Background:Abnormal lipids are strong predictors of cardiovascular disease in type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM)and type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).However,the potential associations of insulin resistance(IR)and beta-cell function(BCF)with abnormal lipids in newly diagnosed T1DM or T2DM patients are not fully understood.Methods:A cross-sectional survey of 15,928 participants was conducted.Homeostasis model assessment and postprandial C-peptide levels were used to estimate IR and BCF.A restricted cubic spline(RCS)nested in binary logistic regression was used to examine the associations of IR and BCF with abnormal lipids.Results:High triglyceride(TG),low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol,and high low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)accounted for 49.7%,47.8%,and 59.2%of the participants,respectively.In multivariable analysis,high IR was associated with an increased risk of high TGs(P for trend<0.001)in T1DM and is associated with an elevated risk of high TG and low HDL-C(all P for trend<0.01)in T2DM.Low BCF was not associated with risks of dyslipidemia in patients with T1DM or T2DM after adjustment for potential confounders.Conclusion:High IR had different associations with the risk of dyslipidemia in newly diagnosed T1DM and T2DM patients,suggesting that early treatment that improves IR may benefit abnormal lipid metabolism.

Prevalence of maturity-onset diabetes of the young in phenotypic type 2 diabetes in young adults:a nationwide,multi-center,cross-sectional survey in China

Background:Maturity-onset diabetes of the young(MODY)is the most common monogenic diabetes.The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of MODY in phenotypic type 2 diabetes(T2DM)among Chinese young adults.Methods:From April 2015 to October 2017,this cross-sectional study involved 2429 consecutive patients from 46 hospitals in China,newly diagnosed between 15 years and 45 years,with T2DM phenotype and negative for standardized glutamic acid decarboxylase antibody at the core laboratory.Sequencing using a custom monogenic diabetes gene panel was performed,and variants of 14 MODY genes were interpreted as per current guidelines.Results:The survey determined 18 patients having genetic variants causing MODY(6 HNF1A,5 GCK,3 HNF4A,2 INS,1 PDX1,and 1 PAX4).The prevalence of MODY was 0.74%(95%confidence interval[CI]:0.40-1.08%).The clinical characteristics of MODY patients were not specific,72.2%(13/18)of them were diagnosed after 35 years,47.1%(8/17)had metabolic syndrome,and only 38.9%(7/18)had a family history of diabetes.No significant difference in manifestations except for hemoglobin A1c levels was found between MODY and non-MODY patients.Conclusion:The prevalence of MODY in young adults with phenotypic T2DM was 0.74%,among which HNF1A-,GCK-,and HNF4A-MODY were the most common subtypes.Clinical features played a limited role in the recognition of MODY.

为明确健康责任主体及其责任范围,本研究在专题小组讨论的基础上,邀请40位专家进行2轮德尔菲法,选用层次分析法获得各指标权重。两轮德尔菲法的回收率为57.50%和82.61%,专家权威系数为0.883,专家意见协调程度由0.171上升至0.209。最终得到的健康责任主体及其责任范围指标体系包括3个一级指标,13个二级指标,46个三级指标,所有结果均通过一致性检验。结论得出,健康责任主体及其责任范围指标体系的构建具有科学性,内容合理可靠。我国应加强各主体健康责任意识,形成健康多元协同治理模式。

Analysis on the Characteristics of the Kalpin Ms5.3 Earthquake Sequence of December 1,2013 and Anomalies before the Earthquake

This paper introduces the basic parameters,focal mechanism solutions and earthquake sequence characteristics of the Kalpin M_S5.3 earthquake sequence of December 1,2013,and analyzed seismic activity before the earthquake,the adjacent tectonic features and the precursory anomaly at fixed points within a range of 200 km. Research indicates:(1) The earthquake occurred on Kalpin fault,the source rupture type is thrust faulting with sinistral strike-slip component.( 2) The earthquake sequence is mainshock-aftershock type,with the aftershock distribution attenuating quickly and trending NE.(3) Abnormal seismic activity before the earthquake was characterized by seismically nesting quiescence of MS2. 0-4. 0 earthquakes,seismic quiescence of MS4. 0 earthquakes and seismic belts of MS3. 0 earthquakes in the Kalpin block, abnormal enhancement zone of moderate earthquakes on Puchang fault and seismological parameters.(4) Anomalies of precursory observation data at fixed stations are mainly characterized by mutation. Apart from the borehole tiltmeter in Halajun, the spatial distribution of other abnormal precursors showed a phenomenon of migration from the near field to far field and from the epicenter to the peripheries.

Disease modifying therapies aiming to preserveβ-cell function in patients with adult-onset autoimmune type 1 diabetes are lacking.Here,we conducted a multi-centre,randomized,controlled trial to assess theβ-cell preservation effects of saxagliptin alone and saxagliptin combined with vitamin D as adjunctive therapies in adult-onset autoimmune type 1 diabetes.In this 3-arm trial,301 participants were randomly assigned to a 24-month course of the conventional therapy(metformin with or without insulin)or adjunctive saxagliptin or adjunctive saxagliptin plus vitamin D to the conventional therapy.The primary endpoint was the change from baseline to 24 months in the fasting C-peptide.The secondary endpoints included the area under the concentration-time curve(AUC)for C-peptide level in a 2-h mixed-meal tolerance test,glycemic control,total daily insulin use and safety,respectively.The primary endpoint was not achieved in saxagliptin plus vitamin D group(P=0.18)and saxagliptin group(P=0.26).However,compared with the conventional therapy,2-h C-peptide AUC from 24 months to baseline decreased less with saxagliptin plus vitamin D(-276 pmol/L vs.-419 pmol/L;P=0.01),and not to the same degree with saxagliptin alone(-314 pmol/L;P=0.14).Notably,for participants with higher glutamic acid decarboxylase antibody(GADA)levels,the decline ofβ-cell function was much lower in saxagliptin plus vitamin D group than in the conventional therapy group(P=0.001).Insulin dose was significantly reduced in both active treatment groups than in the conventional therapy group despite all groups having similar glycemic control.In conclusion,the combination of saxagliptin and vitamin D preserves pancreaticβ-cell function in adult-onset autoimmune type 1 diabetes,an effect especially efficacious in individuals with higher GADA levels.Our results provide evidence for a novel adjunct to insulin and metformin as potential initial treatment for adult-onset type 1 diabetes.(ClinicalTrials.gov identifier:NCT02407899).

Mutation spectrum in GNAQ and GNA11 in Chinese uveal melanoma

Uveal melanoma is the most common intraocular cancer in the adult eye.R183 and Q209 were found to be mutational hotspots in exon 4 and exon 5 of GNAQ and GNA11 in Caucasians.However,only a few studies have reported somaticmutations in GNAQ or GNA11 in uveal melanoma in Chinese.We extracted somatic DNA from paraffin-embedded biopsies of 63 Chinese uveal melanoma samples and sequenced the entire coding regions of exons 4 and 5 in GNAQ and GNA11.The results showed that 33%of Chinese uveal melanoma samples carried Q209 mutations while none had R183 mutation in GNAQ or GNA11.In addition,seven novel missense somatic mutations in GNAQ(Y192C,F194L,P170S,D236N,L232F,V230A,and M227I)and four novel missense somatic mutations in GNA11(R166C,I200T,S225F,and V206M)were found in our study.The high mutation frequency of Q209 and the novel missense mutations detected in this study suggest that GNAQ and GNA11 are common targets for somatic mutations in Chinese uveal melanoma.
