Vascular injuries can lead to severe consequences, and in particular, carotid artery injury caused by combat, traffic accidents or other external forces is extremely harmful. The water adsorption by shale significantly affects shale gas content and its seepage capacity.However,the mechanism of water adsorption by shale is still unclear due to its strong heterogeneity and complicated pore structure.The relationship between the adsorbed water content at different relative humidities(RHs)and shale compositions,as well as shale pore structure and the spatial configuration relationship between organic matter(OM)and clay minerals,was investigated to clarify the controlling factors and mechanisms of water adsorption by Longmaxi Formation shale from the Southern Sichuan Basin in China.Consequently,the water adsorption process could be generally divided into three different stages from 0%RH to 99%RH.Furthermore,the Johnston’s clay mine ral interlayer pore structure model(JCM),the Freundlich model(FM)and the Dubinin-Astakhov model(DAM)were tested to fit the three water adsorption stages from low RH to high RH,respectively.The fitting results of the JCM and FM at lower RHs were far from good,while the fitting results of DAM at higher RHs were acceptable.Accordingly,two revised models(LRHM and MRHM)considering the spatial configuration relationship between OM and clay minerals were proposed for the two stages with lower RHs,and performed better fitting results indicating the pronounced effect of the spatial configuration relationship between OM and clay minerals on the water adsorption process of Longmaxi Formation shale.The outcomes of this study will contribute to clarifying the water distribution characteristics in the pore network of shale samples with variable water contents.

When multiphysics coupling calculations contain time-dependent Monte Carlo particle transport simulations, these simulations often account for the largest part of the calculation time, which is insufferable in certain important cases. This study proposes an adaptive strategy for automatically adjusting the sample size to fulfil more reasonable simulations. This is realized based on an extension of the Shannon entropy concept and is essentially different from the popular methods in timeindependent Monte Carlo particle transport simulations, such as controlling the sample size according to the relative error of a target tally or by experience. The results of the two models show that this strategy can yield almost similar results while significantly reducing the calculation time. Considering the efficiency, the sample size should not be increased blindly if the efficiency cannot be enhanced further. The strategy proposed herein satisfies this requirement.

Immunoglobulin light chain amyloidosis(AL)is one of the most frequent causes of cardiac amyloidosis(CA),[1]with an estimated prevalence of 8 to 12 per million.[2−4]Multiple myeloma(MM)is hematological neoplasia originating from plasma cells,which is the most common disease that can lead to CA.The median age of patients with MM at diagnosis is about 65 years old.In this age group,cardiovascular diseases often co-exist,increasing the risk of adverse events related to MM treatment.By convention,the prognosis of AL-CA with MM is extremely poor,with a median survival time of five months.[5]The degree of cardiac involvement has a decisive impact on the prognosis of AL-CA pati-ents.

Great successes of deep neural networks have been witnessed in various real applications. Many algorithmic and implementation techniques have been developed; however, theoretical understanding of many aspects of deep neural networks is far from clear. A particular interesting issue is the usefulness of dropout,which was motivated from the intuition of preventing complex co-adaptation of feature detectors. In this paper,we study the Rademacher complexity of different types of dropouts, and our theoretical results disclose that for shallow neural networks(with one or none hidden layer) dropout is able to reduce the Rademacher complexity in polynomial, whereas for deep neural networks it can amazingly lead to an exponential reduction.

The Cp;Rh(Ⅲ)-catalyzed asymmetric cascade C-H coupling/intramolecular cyclization of azomethine imines with propargyl carbonates has been developed, affording a variety of chiral tetracyclic indenopyrazolopyrazolone frameworks with good substrate/functional group tolerance and enantioselectivity(up to 97:3 er). Combined experimental studies and DFT calculations revealed the Rh(Ⅲ)-catalyzed stepwise annulation process and clarified the synergy coordination mode of dual directing groups in tuning the selectivity.

Marine current turbine(MCT),which is designed for the power supply of underwater mooring platform(UMP),is investigated in this article.To reduce its flow noise,the microgrooved surface is applied at the suction surface of the turbine blades.Comprehensive analyses of the effects of the UMP on MCT with microgrooved surface in different working conditions are presented.The transient turbulent flow field is obtained by incompressible large eddy simulation(LES),and then the Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings(FW-H)acoustic analogy is adopted to forecast the flow noise generated from the pressure fluctuations and loadings of the UMP shell and MCT blade surfaces.The numerical methods are first validated with experimental data and good agreements are obtained.Then,the influence of several key parameters on the performance of the MCT is then systematically studied,including interval distance,angle of pitch and angle of sideslip.For each case,the hydrodynamic parameters(thrust coefficient,torque coefficient and power coefficient),the vortical structures behind the model and the overall sound pressure level(OASPL)directionality are analyzed.Additionally,the noise reduction effect of the microgrooved surface is also presented.The present investigation could provide an overall understanding for the performance of MCT combined with UMP.

Through the long development processes of reservoir sedimentation and diagenesis, acidic and alkaline fluids play key roles in controlling deep reservoir development. However, the ways in which deep fluids control and transform the reservoir under complex fault conditions remain unclear. In this study, a 2D model was established based on a typical sub-salt to intra-salt vertical profile in the Qaidam Basin, China. Based on measured data, multiphase flow reaction and solute transport simulation technology were used to analyze fluids flow and migration in the intra-salt and sub-salt reservoirs, determine the mineral dissolution, precipitation, and transformation in the reservoir caused by the deep fluids, and calculate the changes in reservoir porosity. Results show that deep fluid migrates preferentially along dominant channels and triggers a series of fluid–rock chemical reactions. In the first stage, a large amount of anhydrite precipitated in the fault as a result of upward migration of deep saline fluid, resulting in the formation of anhydrite veins and blockage at the base of the fault. In the second stage, organic acids caused minerals dissolution and a vertical channel was opened in previously blocked area, which promoted continuous upward migration of organic acids and the formation of secondary pores. This study clarifies the transformative effects of deep alkaline and acidic fluids on the reservoir. Moreover, the important fluid transport role of faults and their effect on reservoir development were determined.

Objective:Assessing carotid and radial pulses is an essential sphygmology method in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).It is believed in TCM and by doctors that pulse force is markedly linked with the physiological state of a human,including body mass index(BMI)and temperature.However,comprehensive analysis elucidating these potential correlations remains undetermined.Therefore,this investigation aimed to assess the association of pulse strength with human metabolism.Materials and Methods:The mean blood flow velocity(MBFV)of the carotid artery and pulse force of 122 healthy adults included in this investigation were assessed using ultrasound and manual palpation.Their thermal texture map was also acquired.Results:No substantial variation was observed in the carotid arterial MBFV among normal individuals(P>0.05)regardless of body side and gender.However,young individuals had higher blood velocity than middle-aged individuals(P<0.05).Furthermore,it was identified that MBFV was negatively associated with BMI and torso temperature;however,it was positively linked with hand temperature.Conclusions:This investigation revealed that carotid arterial MBFV could indicate the physical state of humans,including BMI and temperature,and therefore,is valuable for elucidating the effect of TCM on yin–yang.The data validated some TCM beliefs and supported the implementation of sphygmology in TCM.
