Carbon Monoxide Alleviates Wheat Seed Germination Inhibition and Counteracts Lipid Peroxidation Mediated by salinity

Recently In animals, endogenous carbon monoxide （CO）, like nitric oxlde, was implicated as another Important physiological messenger or bioactive molecule. However, little information is known about the physlologlcal roles of CO in the whole plant. In the present study, we report that different concentrations of the 130 donor hematin （0.1, 1.0 and 10.0 μmol/L） alleviated wheat （Tilticum aestivum L. Yangmai 158） seed germination Inhlbltlon caused by 250 mmol/L NaCI stress In a dose-dependent manner. These responses were also proved by the addltion of different gaseous CO aqueous solutions from 0.1% to 100.0% of saturation. Among these treatments, the effect of 1.0 μmol/L hematin and 1.0% saturation of CO aqueous solution were the most obvlous. Furthermore, compared with non-hematin treatment, the degradation of storage reserves In wheat seeds was also accelerated. Time-course analyses showed that application of hematln dose-dependently Increased the activities of superoxide dismutase, catalase, ascorbate peroxidase, and guaiacol peroxidase activities, thus decreasing the lipid peroxidation In germinating wheat seed subjected to salt stress. Meanwhile, the responses of hematin were specific for CO because the addition of the CO scavenger hemoglobln （0.2 g/L） blocked the various actions of 1.0 μmol/L hematin. Taken together, the results of the present study demonstrate that CO, at a low concentration, is able to attenuate the seed germlnation Inhibition produced by salinity stress and counteract the lipid peroxidation in germinating wheat seeds.

Carbon Monoxide： A Novel Antioxidant Against Oxidative Stress in Wheat Seedling Leaves

Carbon monoxide （CO）, an endogenous signaling molecule in animals, also provides potent cytoprotective effects including attenuation of lung lipid peroxidation induced by oxidant in the mouse. Our recent work demonstrated that 0.01 μmol/L hematin （a CO donor） treatment of wheat plants alleviated salt-induced oxidative damage in seedling leaves. In this report, we further discovered that hematin pretreatment （≤ 0.1 μmol/L） could delay wheat leaf chlorophyll loss mediated by further treatment of H202 and paraquat, two reactive oxygen species （ROS） sources, in dose-and even time-dependent manners. Also, compared with the control samples, seedling leaves pretreated with 0.01 or 0.1 μmol/L hematin for 24 h exhibited lower levels of H2O2 and lipid peroxidation, as well as higher contents of chlorophyll and activities of antioxidant enzymes. Such beneficial effects exerted by hematin were mimicked by the pretreatment of antioxidant butylated hydroxytoluene （BHT）, and differentially reversed when CO scavenger hemoglobin （Hb）, or CO specific synthetic inhibitor ZnPPIX was added, respectively. Taken together, the results presented In this paper directly illustrate for the first time that CO is able to strongly protect plants from oxidative damage caused by the overproduction of ROS, and strengthens the evidence that CO is a potent antioxidant in various abiotic and biotic stresses, as similar results have been shown in animal tissues.

Positive effect of Mo on mechanical properties of a Ni-42W-10Co-x Mo medium heavy alloy

In this study,a novel Ni-W-Co-Mo medium heavy alloy (MHA) was designed to improve its mechanical strength via Mo *** the Ni-42W-10Co-xM o alloy series,where x represents the weight percent of Mo and varies between 0,1,2,5,and 10,the microstructure transitions from a dendritic structure to a hypoeutectic structure as the Mo content increases from 0 to 5wt.%.Moreover,as the Mo content increases from 0to 10wt.%,the distribution of theμ-phase shifts from being individually dispersed to forming aggregates,and its volume fraction rises from 0.5%to 7.9%.Notably,theμ-phase evolves into an eutectic microstructure,which helps in minimizing the segregation of *** change is accompanied by a substantial enhancement in mechanical properties;specifically,the compressive yield strength at room temperature increases from 350 MPa to 646 MPa,indicating a significant 85%***,the microhardness increases from 230 HV to 304 *** dynamics simulations further reveal that the strengthening mechanism of Ni-42W-10Co-xM o alloys is Mo-induced solid solution strengthening and precipitation strengthening.

农产品流通效率事关我国粮食安全和全国统一大市场的建成。运用熵值法测度了2011—2022年我国31个省级行政区的农产品流通效率,并使用Moran’s I、Kernel核密度估计、Markov链、Dagum基尼系数和β收敛模型分别分析了我国农产品流通效率的时空演变、地区差异与收敛性情况。结果显示:研究期内我国农产品流通效率存在显著正向空间相关性,“高—高”集聚和“低—低”集聚特征明显;核密度曲线宽度变大呈现右拖尾和高度差明显的双峰形态,表明农产品流通效率逐渐提升,地区内部存在极化趋势;相邻省区市空间滞后水平对本省区市农产品流通效率维持原有状态或向更高水平发展均有较大影响;地区间差异是造成农产品流通效率总体差异显著的主要原因;农产品流通效率存在显著绝对β收敛和条件β收敛。据此,对如何提高农产品流通效率和缩小地区间差距提出了相关政策建议。

Design,fabrication and kinematics of a bio-inspired robotic bat wing

The current work is oriented toward the development of a novel biologically inspired bat aerial robot with morphing wings. Based on the flight characteristics data of natural bats(Eptesicus fuscus), a novel four degrees of freedom robotic bat wing was developed to emulate the movements of bat wing. The design, fabrication, programing and wind tunnel experiments of the robot bat wing are described in this paper. Based on this robotic wing, the influence of flap amplitude, wind speed, flight frequency, downstroke ratio and stroke plane angle as well as the contributions of flap, elbow, sweep and wrist motions on the aerodynamic force and mechanical power were studied and analyzed. Results of wind tunnel experiments validated that higher lift would bring greater power consumption, and the flap motion would generate the most force and need more energy expenditure compared with other motions of bat. The experimental results suggest that the flap and fold motions are indispensable to make a robotic bat wing that has a better flight performance. This study provides some implications and a better understanding for the future robotic bat.

RMAC： A Reliable MAC Protocol Supporting Multicast for Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

This paper presents a new reliable MAC protocol called “RMAC”supporting reliable multicast for wireless ad hoc networks. By utilizing the busy tones to realize the multicast reliability, RMAC has three novelties：（1） it uses a variablelength control frame to stipulate an order for the receivers to respond, thus solving the feedback collision problem; （2） it extends the usage of busy tone for preventing data frame collisions into the multicast scenario; and （3） it introduces a new usage of busy tone for acknowledging data frames positively. In addition, RMAC is generalized into a comprehensive MAC protocol that provides both reliable and unreliable services for all the three modes of communications： unicast, multicast, and broadcast, making it capable of supporting various upper-layer protocols. The evaluation shows that RMAC achieves high reliability with very limited overhead. RMAC is also compared with other reliable MAC protocols, showing that RMAC not only provides higher reliability but also involves lower cost.
