Numerical simulation on proppant migration and placement within the rough and complex fractures

Hydraulic fracturing is a key technology for the development of unconventional hydrocarbon *** proppant placement morphology determines the fracture conductivity,thus affecting the reservoir stimulation *** this paper,the proppant migration and placement within complex fractures was studied by considering the fracture wall roughness through computational fluid mechanics-discrete element method(CFD-DEM)in numerical simulation,which is a key approach to study the proppant migration and *** results show that the proppant placement non-uniformity,proppant migration capacity,and proppant volume filled in the far-end and the secondary branched fracture are enhanced within the rough fracture compared with those within smooth *** proppant migration capacity is increased within the fracture at low inclination angles(lined fracture than that in the vertical *** rise of injection rate and fracturing fluid viscosity causes more proppants migrate to far-end or secondary fractures,resulting in a non-proppant area within the near-wellbore *** increase by 1.3 times in the injection rate and 3 times in the fracturing fluid viscosity leads to a decrease by 26.6%and 27%,respectively,in the proppant placement area within the near-wellbore *** staged injection with small size proppants followed by large size proppants increases the proppant placement area in the primary fracture by 13%-26%,and that with large size proppants followed by small size proppants increases the proppant placement area by 19%-25%,which is due to that the latter method facilitates filling of the secondary branched *** injection location mainly affects the proppant filling degree within the near-wellbore *** with the upper injection,the middle and lower injection is not beneficial to filling of proppants within the near-wellbore fracture.

Radial well filled with phase change material has been proposed as a novel sand control method for hydrate *** order to reveal the sand control mechanism,CFD-DEM coupling method is applied to simulate the migration,settlement,and blockage processes of sand particles in the radial *** obtained results indicate that three scenarios have been recognized for sand particles passing through sand control medium,based on the diameter ratio of sand control medium to sand particle(D_(d)):fully passing(D_(d)=8.75-22.5),partially passing and partially blocked(D_(d)=3.18-5.63),and completely blocked(D_(d)=2.18-3.21).After being captured by the sand control medium,sand particles can block pores,which increases fluid flow resistance and causes a certain pressure difference in the radial *** pressure in the radial well should be lower than the hydrate phase equilibrium pressure during sand control design,for the purpose of promoting hydrate decomposition,and sand *** length of the radial well should be optimized based on the reservoir pore pressure,production pressure difference,bottom hole pressure,and the pressure gradient in the radial *** should be noticed that the sand control medium leads to a decrease in permeability after sand particles *** the permeability is reduced to several hundred millidarcy,it is still sufficient to ensure the effective flow of gas and water after hydrate *** fluid velocity reduces the blocking capacity of the sand control medium,mainly because of deterioration in bridging between sand particles.

The design and synthesis of vanadium-based denitration catalysts with low-temperature activity pose significant challenges in the field of toxic gas *** this study,we have developed a novel approach to fabricate highly efficient V2O5-WO3/TiO2monolithic mesh catalysts for NOxreduction at low ***,TiO2nanosheets with strong adhesion and large surface area were grown on Ti mesh using plasma electrolytic oxidation technology and hydrothermal ***,super-small traces of WO3and V2O5active nano-species were subsequently deposited on TiO2nanosheets using the deposition-precipitation *** to traditional ceramic-based V2O5-WO3/TiO2catalysts,our V2O5-WO3/TiO2monolithic mesh catalyst exhibits superior mechanical performance,excellent thermal conductivity,lower pressure drop,higher utilization of active components,and stronger synergistic ***,the V2O5-WO3/TiO2monolithic mesh catalysts exhibited excellent low-temperature catalytic activity with 98% of NOxconversion at 220℃,and remarkable long-term SO2tolerance and water resistance in the selective catalytic reduction（SCR） of NOxwith *** SCR reaction of tiny V2O5and WO3active species supported on TiO2nanosheets directly demonstrated to follow the Eley-Rideal mechanism by in situ infrared spectra.

Introducing strong metal–oxygen bonds to suppress the Jahn-Teller effect and enhance the structural stability of Ni/Co-free Mn-based layered oxide cathodes for potassium-ion batteries

Mn-based layered oxides（KMO） have emerged as one of the promising low-cost cathodes for potassiumion batteries（PIBs）.However,due to the multiple-phase transitions and the distortion in the MnO6structure induced by the Jahn-Teller（JT） effect associated with Mn-ion,the cathode exhibits poor structural ***,we propose a strategy to enhance structural stability by introducing robust metal-oxygen（M-O） bonds,which can realize the pinning effect to constrain the distortion in the transition metal（TM） ***,all the elements employed have exceptionally high crustal *** a proof of concept,the designed K0.5Mn0.9Mg0.025Ti0.025Al0.05O2cathode exhibited a discharge capacity of approximately 100 mA h g-1at 20 mA g-1with 79% capacity retention over 50 cycles,and 73% capacity retention over 200 cycles at 200 mA g-1,showcased much better battery performance than the designed cathode with less robust M-O *** properties of the formed M-O bonds were investigated using theoretical *** enhanced dynamics,mitigated JT effect,and improved structural stability were elucidated through the in-situ X-ray diffractometer（XRD）,in-situ electrochemical impedance spectroscopy（EIS）(and distribution of relaxation times（DRT） method),and ex-situ X-ray absorption fine structure（XAFS） *** study holds substantial reference value for the future design of costeffective Mn-based layered cathodes for PIBs.
