Quantitative evaluation of air pollution in transport strategic environmental assessment:a case study based on uncertainty analysis and graphic information system technology

Although the impact of road transport on urban air quality has achieved a high profile in China,still greater attention is required as it has not yet been considered fully even in relation to the road network linking cities and urban areas. Strategic environmental assessment (SEA) is a systematic and comprehensive process for evaluating the environmental impacts of a policy,plan or program in publicly accountable decision-making. Air pollution has been recognized as a significant issue in most transport SEA practices. The Strategic Environmental Assessment of the Hubei Road Network Plan (2002-2020) (HRNP) was introduced as one of the World Bank's pilot SEA projects. An effective framework was developed to investigate the functional relationship between the road network and its potential air pollutant emissions. In this study,two indicators were identified:emission intensity/ inventory of pollutants and the spatial distribution of the most polluted areas. Because strategic actions are inherently nebulous and data quality is often disappointing,three alternative scenarios were employed to address uncertainties and data/scale issues. Calculations were made using emission models and results were analyzed with the help of statistical tools and the geographic information system (GIS). The results from the project implementation and the feedback from the World Bank have both shown that the proposed framework is effective in the transport SEA process.

Studies on vibration characteristics of a pear using finite element method

The variation of the vibration characteristics of a Huanghua pear was investigated using finite element simulations. A new image processing technique was used to obtain the unsymmetrical and un-spherical geometrical model of a pear. The vibra-tion characteristics of this type of pear with the correlation of its behavior with geometrical configurations and material charac-teristics were investigated using numerical modal analysis. The results showed that the eigenfrequency increased with the in-creasing pear Young’s modulus, while decreased with increasing pear density, and decreased with increasing pear volume. The results of this study provided foundation for further investigations of the physical characteristics of fruits and vegetables by using finite element simulations.

Blind image deblurring is a long-standing ill-posed inverse problem which aims to recover a latent sharp image given only a blurry *** far,existing studies have designed many effective priors *** latent image within the maximum a posteriori(MAP)framework in order to narrow down the solution *** non-convex priors are always integrated into the final deblurring model,which makes the optimization ***,due to unknown image distribution,complex kernel structure and non-uniform noises in real-world scenarios,it is indeed challenging to explicitly design a fixed prior for all *** we adopt the idea of adaptive optimization and propose the sparse structure control(SSC)for the latent image during the optimization *** this paper,we only formulate the necessary optiinization constraints in a lightweight MAP model with no *** we develop an inexact projected gradient scheme to incorporate flexible SSC in MAP *** Zp-norm based SSC in our previous work,we also train a group of denoising convolutional neural networks(CNNs)to learn the sparse image structure automatically from the training data under different noise levels,and we show that CNNs-based SSC can achieve similar results compared with Zp-norm but are more robust to *** experiments demonstrate that the proposed adaptive optimization scheme with two types of SSC achieves the state-of-the-art results on both synthetic data and real-world images.

Quantum state manipulation of single-Cesium-atom qubit in a micro-optical trap

Based on single Cesium atoims trapped in a 1064 nm microscopic optical trap we have exhibited a single qubit encoded in the Cesium ＂clock states＂. The single qubit initialization, detection and the fast state rotation with high efficiencies are demonstrated and this state manipulation is crucial for quantmn information processing. The ground ~ates Rabi flopping rate of 229.0 ± 0.6 kHz is realized hy a two-photon Raman process. A clock states dephasing time of 3.0 ± 0.7 ms is measured, while all irreversible homogeneous dephasing time of 124 ± 17 ms is achieved by using the spin-echo technique. This well-controlled single atom provides an ideal quantmn qubit and quantmn node for quantum information processing.

Reconstructed rheometer for direct monitoring of dewatering performance and torque in tailings thickening process

To further clarify the dewatering performance and torque evolution during the tailings thickening process,a self-made rake was connected to a rheometer to monitor the shear stress and *** dewatering performance of the total tailings was greatly improved to a solid mass fraction of 75.33%in 240 *** dewatering process could be divided into three stages:the rapid torque growth period,damping torque growth period,and constant torque thickening *** machine restart was found to have a significant effect on the rake torque;it could result in rake ***,the simultaneous evolution of the torque and solid mass fraction of thickened tailings was analyzed.A relationship between the torque and the solid mass fraction was established,which followed a power *** the experimental and theoretical results provide a reference for the deep cone thickener design and operation to enhance the dewatering performance.

The role of radical prostatectomy and definitive external beam radiotherapy in combined treatment for high-risk prostate cancer:a systematic review and meta-analysis

The first-line treatment options for high-risk prostate cancer(PCa)are definitive external beam radiotherapy(EBRT)with or without androgen deprivation therapy(ADT)and radical prostatectomy(RP)with or without adjuvant ***,few randomized trials have compared the survival outcomes of these two *** systematically evaluate the survival outcomes of high-risk PCa patients treated with EBRT-or RP-based therapy,a comprehensive and up-to-date meta-analysis was performed.A systematic online search was conducted for randomized or observational studies that investigated biochemical relapse-free survival(bRFS),cancer-specific survival(CSS),and/or overall survival(OS),in relation to the use of RP or EBRT in patients with high-risk *** summary hazard ratios(HRs)were estimated under the random effects *** identified heterogeneity between studies using Q tests and measured it using I2 *** evaluated publication bias using funnel plots and Egger's regression asymmetry *** studies(including one randomized controlled trial[RCT])of low risk of bias were selected and up to 9504 patients were *** comparing EBRT-based treatment with RP-based treatment,the pooled HRs for bRFS,CSS,and OS were 0.40(95%confidence interval[CI]:0.24–0.67),1.36(95%CI:0.94–1.97),and 1.39(95%CI:1.18–1.62),*** OS for RP-based treatment and better bRFS for EBRT-based treatment have been identified,and there was no significant difference in CSS between the two ***-based treatment is recommended for high-risk PCa patients who value long-term survival,and EBRT-based treatment might be a promising alternative for elderly patients.

Synergistic effect of bromocriptine and tumor necrosis factor-a on reversing hepatoceiiuiar carcinoma multidrug resistance in nude mouse MDRl model of liver neoplasm

AIM： To investigate the effect of bromocripUne （BCT） and tumor necrosis factor-α ClNF-α） on hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） multidrug resistance （MDR） in nude mouse HDR model of liver neoplasm. METHODS： Human hepatocarcinoma cell line HepG2t drug resistant hepatocarcinoma cell line HepG2/adriamycin （ADM） and hepatocarcinoma cell line transfected with TNF-α gene HepG2JADM/TNF were injected into the liver of nude mice via orthotopic implantation and MDR model of liver neoplasm in vivo was established （HepG2t ADM, TNF, BCT groups）. Among these groups, BCT group and TNF group were treated with BCT through gastric canal. Each group was divided into control group and chemotherapy group. Size and weight of the tumor were measured. Furthermore, tumor his^logical character and growth of the nude mice were observed and their chemosensitivity was tested. MDR-associated genes and proteins （MRP, LRP） of implanted tumors were detected by immunohistochemistry, reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction, and apoptosis rate of hepatocarcinoma cells was detected by TUNEL assay. RESULTS： The nude mouse model of each cell line was inoculated successfully. The tumor growth rate and weight were significantly different among groups. After chemotherapy, abdominal cavity tumor growth inhibition rate was higher in BCT group （67%） compared to ADM and TNF groups, and similar to HepG2group （54%）. MDRI and LRPmRNA could be detected in all groups, but TNF-α was detected only in TNF and BCT groups. Furthermore, MDR1 and LRP protein expression of tumors in TNF and BCT groups was low similar to HepG2 group. The apoptosis rate of hepatocarcinoma cells was much higher in BCT group than in other groups with TUNEL assay. CONCLUSION： BCT and TNF-a can reverse HCC MDR in nude mouse MDR1 model of liver neoplasm. 2005 The WJG Press and Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved
