Repellent,larvicidal and adulticidal activities of essential oil from Dai medicinal plant Zingiber cassumunar against Aedes albopictus

Zingiber cassumunar is an important plant used in traditional medicine and as a natural mosquito re-pellent.However,the compounds responsible for the repellent activity of the plant are still unknown.The aim of the study is to identify the components of Z.cassumunar essential oil that show repellent activity against Aedes albopictus.We also evaluated the larvicidal and adulticidal activities of Z.cassumunar essential oil against Ae.albopictus.In-cage mosquito repellent experiments showed that Z.cassumunar essential oil possessed moderate repellent activity with a minimum effective dose(MED)of 0.16±0.01 mg/cm^(20,compared to reference standard N,N-diethyl-3-methylbenzamide(DEET,0.03±0.01 mg/cm^(20).Bioassay-guided fractionation identified the major active compound of Z.cassumunar essential oil as(-)-terpinen-4-ol(1)(MED:0.19±0 mg/cm^(20).We also found that Z.cassumunar essential oil showed moderate larvicidal activity against first instar larvae of Ae.albopictus with a LC50(50%lethal concentration)of 44.9 mg/L after 24 h.Fumigation bioassays showed that Z.cassumunar essential oil exhibits moderate adulticidal activity against Ae.albopictus with a LC50 of 5.44%,while(-)-terpinen-4-ol showed significant adulticidal activity with a LC50 of 2.10%after 24 h.This study verifies that the Z.cassumunar essential oil has mosquito repellent activity,and that(-)-terpinen-4-ol is mainly responsible for this activity.Furthermore,this study provides scientific support for the folk usage of Z.cassumunar essential oil as mosquito repellent and indicates that Z.cassumunar essential oil and(-)-terpinen-4-ol can be used as plant-derived repellents and insecticides for mosquito control.

1-(4-ethylphenyl)-nonane-1,3-dione(0206)is an oil-soluble liquid molecule with rod-like structure.In this study,the chelate(0206-Fe)with octahedral structure was prepared by the reaction of ferric chloride and 1,3-diketone.The experimental results show that when using 0206 and a mixed solution containing 60%0206-Fe and 40%0206(0206-Fe(60%))as lubricants of the steel friction pairs,superlubricity can be achieved(0.007,0.006).But their wear scar diameters(WSD)were very large(532µm,370µm),which resulted in the pressure of only 44.3 and 61.8 MPa in the contact areas of the friction pairs.When 0206-Fe(60%)was mixed with PAO6,it was found that the friction coefficient(COF)decreased with increase of 0206-Fe(60%)in the solution.When the ratio of 0206-Fe(60%)to PAO6 was 8:2(PAO6(20%)),it exhibited better comprehensive tribological properties(232.3 MPa).Subsequent studies have shown that reducing the viscosity of the base oil in the mixed solution helped to reduce COF and increased WSD.Considering the COF,contact pressure,and running-in time,it was found that the mixed lubricant(Oil3(20%))prepared by the base oil with a viscosity of 19.7 mPa·s(Oil3)and 0206-Fe(60%)exhibited the best tribological properties(0.007,161.4 MPa,3,100 s).

Objective To investigate the chemical structures of glycosides in the roots of Cynanchum otophyllum（Asclepiadaceae） and to find new glycosides. Methods The total glycosides in the roots of C. olophyllum were separated by silica gel column chromatography. The structures of the resulting compounds were determined by NMR and FAB-MS spectra. Results Three C21 steroidal glycosides were separated. Their structures were determined as caudatin 3-O-（4-O-methyl-β-D-cymaropyranosyl）-（1→4）-ɑ-D-oleandropyranosyl-（1→4）-β-D-glucopyranosyl-（1→4）-ɑ-L-rhamnopyranoside（1）, caudatin 3-O-β-D-digitoxopyranosyl-（1→4）-ɑ-D-oleandropyranosyl-（1→4）-β-Ddiginopyranosyl-（1→4）-β-D-glucopyranoside（2）, and caudatin 3-O-β-D-diginopyranosyl-（1→4）-ɑ-D-oleandropyranosyl-（1→4）-ɑ-D-oleandropyranosyl-（1→4）-β-Dglucopyranoside（3）, respectively. Conclusion Glycosides 1-3 are new compounds.

Objective To study the chemical structures of saponins in the rhizome of Cynanchum otophyllum（Asclepiadaceae）, and to find new compounds. Methods The total saponins of the rhizome were separated by silica gel column chromatography. The chemical structures of obtained compounds were determined by NMR and FAB-MS spectra. Results Three C21 steroidal saponins were separated. Their structures were determined as caudatin 3- O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-（1 →4）-β- D-digitoxopyranosyl-（1 → 4）-β-D-digino- pyranosyl-（1 -4）-α-D-oleandropyranoside （1）, caudatin 3-O-β-D-oleandropyranosyl- （1→4）-α-D-oleandropyranosyl-（1→4）-α-D-oleandropyranoside （2）, and caudatin 3-O- β-D-glucopyranosyl-（1 →4）-α-D-oleandropyranosyl-（1 -4）-β-D-diginopyranosyl-（1→4）- α-D-oleandropyranoside （3）, respectively. Conclusion Saponins 1-3 are new compounds.

Study on the tribological properties of metal rolling bearing under lubrication with diketone lubricants

In this article, 1-(4-ethylphenyl)-nonane-1,3-dione(0206) was prepared by Claisen condensation. By mixing 0206, chelate, and base oil in a ratio of 3.2:4.8:2, a diketone lubricant(PAO=14(20%)) that can achieve superlubricity was prepared and applied to bearing lubrication experiments. The experimental results show that when the bearing was lubricated by base oil, the friction coefficient(COF) and temperature rise decreased with the decrease of the viscosity of PAO. When PAO=14(20%) was used as the lubricant, the COF of the bearing was the lowest(0.001), and the wear morphology was comparable to that of the bearing lubricated with commercial lubricant. Compared with the base oil with the same viscosity, it is found that the COF and temperature rise of the bearing lubricated by PAO=14(20%) were lower under any experimental conditions. And when the amount of lubricant added was 10 μL, the COF of the bearing lubricated by PAO=14(20%) reached a very low value(0.0004).Bearing ball surface analysis identified the formation of diketone adsorption films. Combined with the previous PAO=14(20%)superlubricity mechanism, it was considered that the occurrence of tribochemical reaction and the bearing effect of chelates were the main reasons for the existence of ultra-low friction coefficient and low wear. In addition, when there were polar molecules in the lubricant, they were adsorbed on the metal surface through tribochemical reactions, resulting in many irregular pits on the surface.

Optical metasurfaces(OMs)offer unprecedented control over electromagnetic waves,enabling advanced optical multiplexing.The emergence of deep learning has opened new avenues for designing OMs.However,existing deep learning methods for OMs primarily focus on forward design,which limits their design capabilities,lacks global optimization,and relies on prior knowledge.Additionally,most OMs are static,with fixed functionalities once processed.To overcome these limitations,we propose an inverse design deep learning method for dynamic OMs.Our approach comprises a forward prediction network and an inverse retrieval network.The forward prediction network establishes a mapping between meta-unit structure parameters and reflectance spectra.The inverse retrieval network generates a library of meta-unit structure parameters based on target requirements,enabling end-to-end design of OMs.By incorporating the dynamic tunability of the phase change material Sb2Te3with inverse design deep learning,we achieve the design and verification of dynamic multifunctional OMs.Our results demonstrate OMs with multiple information channels and encryption capabilities that can realize multiple physical field optical modulation functions.When Sb2Te3is in the amorphous state,near-field nano-printing based on meta-unit amplitude modulation is achieved for X-polarized incident light,while holographic imaging based on meta-unit phase modulation is realized for circularly polarized light.In the crystalline state,the encrypted information remains secure even with the correct polarization input,achieving double encryption.This research points towards ultra-compact,high-capacity,and highly secure information storage approaches.

There are complaints about current machine learning techniques such as the requirement of a huge amount of training data and proficient training skills,the difficulty of continual learning,the risk of catastrophic forgetting,and the leaking of data privacy/proprietary.Most research efforts have been focusing on one of those concerned issues separately,paying less attention to the fact that most issues are entangled in practice.The prevailing big model paradigm,which has achieved impressive results in natural language processing and computer vision applications,has not yet addressed those issues,whereas becoming a serious source of carbon emissions.This article offers an overview of the learnware paradigm,which attempts to enable users not to need to build machine learning models from scratch,with the hope of reusing small models to do things even beyond their original purposes,where the key ingredient is the specification which enables a trained model to be adequately identified to reuse according to the requirement of future users who know nothing about the model in advance.

Crude oil scheduling optimization is an effective method to enhance the economic benefits of oil refining.But uncertainties,including uncertain demands of crude distillation units(Cdus),might make the production plans made by the traditional deterministic optimization models infeasible.A data-driven Wasserstein distributionally robust chance-constrained(WDRCC)optimization approach is proposed in this paper to deal with demand uncertainty in crude oil scheduling.First,a new deterministic crude oil scheduling optimization model is developed as the basis of this approach.The Wasserstein distance is then used to build ambiguity sets from historical data to describe the possible realizations of probability distributions of uncertain demands.A cross-validation method is advanced to choose suitable radii for these ambiguity sets.The deterministic model is reformulated as a WDRCC optimization model for crude oil scheduling to guarantee the demand constraints hold with a desired high probability even in the worst situation in ambiguity sets.The proposed WDRCC model is transferred into an equivalent conditional value-at-risk representation and further derived as a mixed-integer nonlinear programming counterpart.Industrial case studies from a real-world refinery are conducted to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.Out-of-sample tests demonstrate that the solution of the WDRCC model is more robust than those of the deterministic model and the chance-constrained model.

In this paper,we prove that for each positive k≡1 mod m there exists a P-symmetric kmτ-periodic solution xk for asymptotically linear mτ-periodic Hamiltonian systems,which are nonautonomous and endowed with a P-symmetry.If the P-symmetric Hamiltonian function is semi-positive,one can prove,under a new iteration inequality of the Maslov-type P-index,that xk_(1) and xk_(2) are geometrically distinct for k_(1)/k_(2)≥(2n+1)m+1;and xk_(1),xk_(2) are geometrically distinct for k_(1)/k_(2)≥m+1 provided xk_(1) is non-degenerate.
