Intravitreal injection of conbercept for diabetic macular edema complicated with diabetic nephropathy

AIM:To observe the therapeutic effect of conbercept on diabetic macular edema(DME)complicated with diabetic nephropathy(DN).METHODS:In this retrospective study,54 patients(54 eyes)that diagnosed as DME from January 2017 to October 2021 were *** patients were divided into two groups:DME patients with DN(25 eyes),and DME patients without DN(29 eyes).General conditions were collected before treatment,laboratory tests include fasting blood glucose,HbA1c,microalbumin/creatinine,serum *** coherence tomography(OCT)was used to check the ellipsoidal zone(EZ)and external limiting membrane(ELM)*** macular thickness(CMT),best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),and retinal hyperreflective foci(HF)as well as numbers of injections were ***:There were significant differences between fasting blood glucose,HbA1c,serum creatinine,urinary microalbumin/creatinine,and estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR)between the two groups(all P<0.05).EZ and ELM continuity in the DME+DN group was worse than that in the DME group(P<0.05).BCVA(logMAR)in the DME group was significantly better than that in the DME+DN group at the same time points during treatment(all P<0.05).CMT and HF values were significantly higher in the DME+DN group than that in the DME group at the all time points(all P<0.05)and significantly decreased in both groups with time during *** 6mo after treatment,the mean number of injections in the DME+DN and DME group was 4.84±0.94 and 3.79±0.86,***:Conbercept has a significant effect in short-term treatment of DME patients with or without DN,and can significantly ameliorate BCVA,CMT and the number of HF,treatment efficacy of DME patients without DN is better than that of DME patients with DN.

MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING CHARACTERISTICS AND SURGICAL RESULTS OF ADRENOCORTICOTROPIN-SECRETING PITUITARY ADENOMAS

Objective To evaluate magnetic resonance imaging （MRI） characteristics and surgical results of adrenocorticotropin （ACTH） -secreting pituitary adenomas. Methods MRI characteristics and relationship between MRI positive rate and surgical results of 266 patients with pathologically confn＇med Cushing＇s disease were analyzed retrospectively. All patients underwent thin-section sagittal and coronal scans of the pituitary gland before and after administration of gadolinium-diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid （Gd-DTPA） on a 1. 5 Tesla MR/scanner, and dynamic enhanced MR/was performed in 39 patients. All patients underwent transsphenoidal adenomectomy. Endocrinological examinations and assessments were performed. Results Preoperative MR/revealed normal results in 41 （ 15.4% ） cases, microadenoma in 179 （67. 3% ）, macroadenoma in 42 （ 15.8% ）, and huge adenoma in 4 （ 1.5% ）. Pituitary apoplexy was found in 13 （4.9%） cases. Positive rate of ACTH-secreting adenomas was 84.6% （225/266） on MR/scans, and that of small microadenomas was 87.2% （34/39） on dynamic enhanced MRI scans. Preoperative endocrinological tests of 199 cases supported the diagnosis of typical Cushing＇s disease, while the other 67 cases had atypical endocrinological results. The endocrinological cure rate, remission rate, and inefficacy rate were 85.7%, 7.9%, and 6. 4%, respectively. There was no difference in the initial endocrinological cure rate between the patients with positive and normal MRI results （90% vs. 87. 8%, P =0. 904）. Conclusions Enhanced coronal pituitary MR/ is helpful for preoperative localization of ACTH-secreting pituitary microadenoma. Dynamic enhanced MR/may improve detection rate of microadenoma. There is no marked difference in the surgical results for patients with preoperative MR/results indicating presence or absence of microadenoma.

Dynamic COVID Zero Strategy triggered a significant increase of chlorine-based disinfectant

Chlorine-based disinfectants(CBDs)have been widely used to prevent and control the spread of the COVID-19,which may lead to the formation of carcinogenic *** China,strict disinfection strategies by local governments/communities or volunteering by residents have been implemented to meet the Dynamic COVID Zero(DCZ)***,the amount of CBDs used has not been *** author proposed an urban-scale disinfectant consumption estimation(ALICE)model to quantify weekly CBD *** results show that the CBD consumption for the urban region of Beijing during the DCZ strategy was 3704.0 t(0.43 kg/(cap-yr)),equivalent to a monthly increase of 15 g/cap(70.5%)in CBD consumption compared with that in *** to the scenario analysis,a stricter strategy with a shorter response time toward new cases will decrease the total CBD consumption by 1.2% compared with the baseline estimation.A more precise prevention strategy with a smaller delineation of risk area and a less stringent strategy with a longer response time will lower the total CBD consumption by 0.42% and 0.35%,***,the more precise prevention strategy will reduce CBD consumption of close off and lockdown area(COLD area)by 16.9%,and the stricter strategy will reduce this consumption by 37.7%.This study highlights the impact of pandemic prevention and control strategies on chlorine-based disinfectant consumption and some implications for future environmental pollution and risk assessments.

A robust tensor watermarking algorithm for diffusion-tensor images

Watermarking algorithms that use convolution neural networks have exhibited good robustness in studies of deep learning ***,after embedding watermark signals by convolution,the feature fusion eficiency of convolution is relatively low;this can easily lead to distortion in the embedded *** distortion occurs in medical images,especially in diffusion tensor images(DTIs),the clinical value of the DTI is *** address this issue,a robust watermarking algorithm for DTIs implemented by fusing convolution with a Transformer is proposed to ensure the robustness of the watermark and the consistency of sampling distance,which enhances the quality of the reconstructed image of the watermarked DTIs after embedding the watermark *** the watermark-embedding network,Ti-weighted(Tlw)images are used as prior *** correlation between T1w images and the original DTI is proposed to calculate the most significant features from the T1w images by using the Transformer *** maximum of the correlation is used as the most significant feature weight to improve the quality of the reconstructed *** the watermark extraction network,the most significant watermark features from the watermarked DTI are adequately learned by the Transformer to robustly extract the watermark signals from the watermark *** results show that the average peak signal-to-noise ratio of the watermarked DTI reaches 50.47 dB,the diffusion characteristics such as mean diffusivity and fractional anisotropy remain unchanged,and the main axis deflection angleαAc is close to *** proposed algorithm can effectively protect the copyright of the DTI and barely affects the clinical diagnosis.

Clinical efficacy of femtosecond laser-assisted phacoemulsification in diabetic cataract patients

A semi-analytical pressure and rate transient analysis model for inner boundary and propped fractures exhibiting dynamic behavior under long-term production conditions

The loss of hydrocarbon production caused by the dynamic behavior of the inner boundary and propped fractures under long-term production conditions has been widely reported in recent studies. However,the quantitative relationships for the variations of the inner boundary and propped fractures have not been determined and incorporated in the semi-analytical models for the pressure and rate transient analysis. This work focuses on describing the variations of the inner boundary and propped fractures and capturing the typical characteristics from the pressure transient curves.A generalized semi-analytical model was developed to characterize the dynamic behavior of the inner boundary and propped fractures under long-term production conditions. The pressure-dependent length shrinkage coefficients, which quantify the length changes of the inner zone and propped fractures, are modified and incorporated into this multi-zone semi-analytical model. With simultaneous numerical iterations and numerical inversions in Laplace and real-time space, the transient solutions to pressure and rate behavior are determined in just a few seconds. The dynamic behavior of the inner boundary and propped fractures on transient pressure curves is divided into five periods: fracture bilinear flow(FR1),dynamic PFs flow(FR2), inner-area linear flow(FR3), dynamic inner boundary flow(FR4), and outer-area dominated linear flow(FR5). The early hump during FR2 period and a positive upward shift during FR4period are captured on the log-log pressure transient curves, reflecting the dynamic behavior of the inner boundary and propped fractures during the long-term production *** transient pressure behavior will exhibit greater positive upward trend and the flow rate will be lower with the shrinkage of the inner boundary. Exploring the impact of economic growth and energy consumption on SO2 emissions in China based on the Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis

This study aims to analysis the influence of economic growth(EG) and energy consumption(EC) on sulfur dioxide emissions(SE) in China. Accordingly, this study explores the link between EG, EC, and SE for 30 provinces in China over the span of 2000-2019. This study also analyzes cross-sectional dependence tests, panel unit root tests, Westerlund panel cointegration tests, Dumitrescu-Hurlin(D-H) causality tests. According to the test results, there is an inverted U-shaped association between EG and SE,and the assumption of the Environmental Kuznets Curve(EKC) is verified. The signs of EG and EC in the fixed effect(FE) and random effect(RE) methods are in line with those in the dynamic ordinary least squares(DOLS), fully modified ordinary least squares(FMOLS) and autoregressive distributed lag(ARDL)estimators. Moreover, the results verified that EC can obviously positive impact the SE. To reduce SE in China, government and policymakers can improve air quality by developing cleaner energy sources and improving energy efficiency. This requires the comprehensive use of policies, regulations, economic incentives, and public participation to promote sustainable development.
