This paper investigates the identifiability of structured systems with a matrix fraction description and attacks practical difficulties in estimating parameters under finite frequency responses. The numerator and denominator polynomial matrices depend affinely on system parameters, which can represent a broad range of systems, especially circuits and mechanical systems. Except for assuming that the denominator matrix is invertible, no further assumptions are adopted. A criterion is provided for validating this assumption utilizing graph theories and matroids. A sufficient and necessary criterion for global identifiability based on the rank of a numerical matrix is given and can be recursively verified with each frequency point,which is computationally attractive for large-scale systems. For an identifiable system, an ellipsoid approximation is obtained for the set of parameters whose corresponding system frequency responses deviate within a specific range from those of the system at a specific parameter value. Using this approximation, explicit expressions for absolute and relative sloppiness have been derived, which can be used to quantify the difficulty of identifying system parameters. Comparisons with the well-known Fisher information matrix have also been performed through a mechanical system, revealing significant differences in quantifying parameter estimation hardness.

In this paper, we study a portfolio selection problem of an investor with a retirement option, who has possibility to buy life insurance and does not tolerate any decline in consumption. The agent's optimization problem can be viewed as a mixed singular control and optimal stopping problem with time-inhomogeneous utility functions. The closed-form optimal solution is not available in general. We use the dual control method to convert the original problem into two classes of optimal stopping problems in finite and infinite *** show that the optimal consumption strategy and the best retirement time depend on the free-boundary functions which satisfy Fredholm and Volterra integral equations. We derive the closed-form formulas for these two free boundaries for some special cases and develop numerical methods to solve the integral equations of the free boundaries for general cases.

Developing effective strategies to regulate graphene’s conduction loss and polarization has become a key to expanding its application in the electromagnetic wave absorption(EMWA)*** on the unique energy band structure of graphene,regulating its bandgap and electrical properties by introducing heteroatoms is considered a feasible ***,metal-nitrogen doping reduced graphene oxide(M–N-RGO)was prepared by embedding a series of single metal atoms M–N_(4) sites(M=Mn,Fe,Co,Ni,Cu,Zn,Nb,Cd,and Sn)in RGO using an N-coordination atom-assisted *** composites had adjustable conductivity and polarization to optimize dielectric loss and impedance matching for efficient EMWA *** results showed that the minimum reflection loss(RL_(min))of Fe–N-RGO reaches−74.05 dB(2.0 mm)and the maximum effective absorption bandwidth(EAB_(max))is 7.05 GHz(1.89 mm)even with a low filler loading of only 1 wt%.Combined with X-ray absorption spectra(XAFS),atomic force microscopy,and density functional theory calculation analysis,the Fe–N_(4) can be used as the polarization center to increase dipole polarization,interface polarization and defect-induced polarization due to d-p orbital hybridization and structural ***,electron migration within the Fe further leads to conduction loss,thereby synergistically promoting energy *** study demonstrates the effectiveness of metal-nitrogen doping in regulating the graphene′s dielectric properties,which provides an important basis for further investigation of the loss mechanism.

FK506(Tacrolimus)is a systemic immunosuppressant approved by the *** and Drug ***506 has been shown to promote peripheral nerve regeneration,however,its precise mechanism of action and its pathways remain *** this study,we established a rat model of sciatic nerve injury and found that FK506 improved the morphology of the injured sciatic nerve,increased the numbers of motor and sensory neurons,reduced inflammatory responses,markedly improved the conduction function of the injured nerve,and promoted motor function *** findings suggest that FK506 promotes peripheral nerve structure recovery and functional regeneration by reducing the intensity of inflammation after neuronal injury and increasing the number of surviving neurons.

Zinc oxide(ZnO)serves as a crucial functional semiconductor with a wide direct bandgap of approximately 3.37 *** reaction is commonly used in the synthesis of ZnO micro/nanostructures,given its low cost,simplicity,and easy ***,ZnO morphology engineering has become desirable through the alteration of minor conditions in the reaction process,particularly at room *** this work,ZnO micro/nanostructures were synthesized in a solution by varying the amounts of the ammonia added at low temperatures(including room temperature).The formation of Zn^(2+)complexes by ammonia in the precursor regulated the reaction rate of the morphology engineering of ZnO,which resulted in various structures,such as nanoparticles,nanosheets,microflowers,and single ***,the obtained ZnO was used in the optoelectronic application of ultraviolet detectors.

Use of surgical techniques in the rat pancreas transplantation model

BACKGROUND: Pancreas transplantation is currently considered to be the most reliable and effective treatment for insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (also called type I diabetes). With the improvement of microsurgical techniques, pancreas transplantation in rats has been the major model for physiological and immunological experimental studies in the past 20 years. We investigated the surgical techniques of pancreas transplantation in rats by analysing the difference between cervical segmental pancreas transplantation and abdominal pancreaticoduodenal transplantation. METHODS: Two hundred and forty male adult Wistar rats weighing 200-300 g were used, 120 as donors and 120 as recipients. Sixty cervical segmental pancreas transplants and 60 abdominal pancreaticoduodenal transplants were carried out and vessel anastomoses were made with microsurgical techniques. RESULTS: The time of donor pancreas harvesting in the cervical and abdominal groups was 31 6 and 37.6 +/- 3.8 min, respectively, and the lengths of recipient operations were 49.2 +/- 5.6 and 60.6 +/- 7.8 min. The time for donor operation was not significantly different (P > 0.05), but the recipient operation time in the abdominal group was longer than that in the cervical group (P 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Both pancreas transplantation methods are stable models for immunological and physiological studies in pancreas transplantation. Since each has its own advantages and disadvantages, the designer can choose the appropriate method according to the requirements of the study.
