The association of atrial fibrillation and dementia incidence: a meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies

Objectives To assess and synthesize the prospective cohort studies published so far on the association between atrial fibrillation (AF) and dementia *** We searched PubMed,Web of Science,and the Cochrane Library for potential studies published in English previous to April *** independent reviewers screened the search results for prospective cohort studies reporting the association between AF and dementia incidence in patients with normal cognitive function at baseline and not suffering from an acute *** Newcastle-Ottawa Scale was adopted to evaluate the quality of the included *** pooled hazard ratio (HR) of AF for dementia was calculated with the Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software,version *** and publication bias were assessed with the I2 test and funnel plot,*** We finally identified 11 prospective cohort studies covering 112,876 *** the included studies reported an adjusted HR obtained in multiple Cox regression *** qualities of the included studies ranged from moderate to *** pooled analysis with a fixed-effects model,AF was independently associated with dementia incidence (HR = 1.34,95% CI: 1.24–1.44).Subgroup analysis of studies considering anticoagulation as an important confounding factor achieved a similar *** on the I2 test and funnel plot,we did not detect obvious heterogeneity and publication bias in our ***-regression on age did not find significant *** The results of our meta-analysis further confirmed that AF was an independent risk factor for dementia in patients with normal baseline cognitive function not suffering from acute *** for dementia in AF patients and including dementia as an independent outcome in large AF treatment trials is warranted.

Overexpression of IQGAP1 in human pancreatic cancer

BACKGROUND:Pancreatic cancer is a highly aggressive malignant tumor with the lowest survival rate.A better understanding of the molecular mechanisms which contribute to pancreatic cancer occurrence and progression will aid in the development of new approaches to the early diagnosis,prevention,and treatment of this deadly *** scaffold protein IQGAP1 shows elevated levels in a variety of cancer ***,we investigated whether or not IQGAP1 is also overexpressed in pancreatic ***:IQGAP1 expression was examined in pancreatic cancer and normal tissues adjacent to cancerous tissues(adjacent tissues)by Western blotting and real-time RT-PCR as well as in paraffin sections of tissue microarray by *** correlations between IQGAP1 expression and various clinicopathological characteristics were ***:Western blotting and real-time RT-PCR revealed that the levels of IQGAP1 protein and mRNA expression in pancreatic cancer tissues were significantly increased compared with adjacent *** analysis on tissue microarray showed that IQGAP1 protein expression was significantly higher in pancreatic cancer(80.0%,48/60)compared with adjacent tissues(18.3%,11/60)(P<0.001).Moreover,overexpression of IQGAP1 was shown to be associated with the grades of tumor differentiation(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:The overexpression of IQGAP1 may play an important role in pancreatic cancer occurrence and progression,and IQGAP1 may serve as a novel molecular target for the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer.

Bayesian network-based survival prediction model for patients having undergone post-transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt for portal hypertension

Inhibition of viability of human retinal microvascular endothelial cells by vialinin A under high glucose condition

AIM:To investigate the effects of vialinin A on viability of human retinal endothelial cells(HRECs)under high glucose condition and its potential ***:The HRECs were divided into four groups:normal glucose control group(NG,5 mmol/L D-glucose),high glucose group(HG,30 mmol/L D-glucose),HG+1μmol/L vialinin A group,and HG+5μmol/L vialinin A *** cell viabilities were measured with cell counting kit-8(CCK-8)assay for proliferation,with scratch assay for migration,and tube formation,for evaluation of the impact of vialinin A on cellular ***-time PCR and Western blotting were used to determine the expression level of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF).RESULTS:The proliferative capacity and migration of HRECs was reduced by 5μmol/L vialinin A in high glucose environment(both P<0.05).Vialinin A also inhibited highglucose-induced tube formation of *** expression level of VEGF and PI3K in HRECs was also significantly decreased by vialinin A(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Vialinin A inhibits the cell viability of *** may serve as a potential target for anti-angiogenic therapy.

A dedicated weak current measurement system was designed to measure the weak currents generated by the neutron ionization *** system incorporates a second-order low-pass filter circuit and the Kalman filtering algorithm to effectively filter out noise and minimize interference in the measurement *** conducted under normal temperature conditions has demonstrated the system's high precision ***,it was observed that temperature variations can affect the measurement *** were collected across temperatures ranging from -20 to 70℃,and a temperature correction model was established through linear regression fitting to address this *** feasibility of the temperature correction model was confirmed at temperatures of -5 and 40℃,where relative errors remained below 0.1% after applying the temperature *** research indicates that the designed measurement system exhibits excellent temperature adaptability and high precision,making it particularly suitable for measuring weak currents.
