Effects of Ni content and tempering temperatures on microstructure and properties of medium-carbon cast steel

The microstructure evolution and properties of medium-carbon cast steel alloyed with different Ni contents after tempering at various temperatures have been investigated.The addition of 0.47-1.59 wt.%Ni content results in the formation of 16%-36% retained austenite(RA).The blocky and irregular-polygonal RA mainly forms along the prior austenite grain boundaries,and the tempering temperature does not affect the RA content.The hardness of medium-carbon cast steel is affected by the precipitation of carbides and the hardness of martensite.Excessive RA content is the main cause of intergranular impact rupture and low impact energy.The long-strip carbides formed after tempering at 320℃ would further reduce the impact energy of medium-carbon cast steel.When tempering at 220 and 380℃,the increase in impact energy is attributed to the formation of rod-like and spherical carbides and the low-carbon martensite.For the medium-carbon cast steel with high impact energy,its impact-abrasive wear resistance is more excellent.Micro-cutting and delamination are the primary wear mechanisms.

Background：Bipolar electro-coagulation has a reported efficacy in treating epilepsy involving functional cortex by pure electro-coagulation or combination with resection.However,the mechanisms of bipolar electro-coagulation are not completely known.We studied the acute cortical blood flow and histological changes after bipolar electro-coagulation in 24 patients with intractable temporal lobe epilepsy.Methods：Twenty-four patients were consecutively enrolled,and divided into three groups according to the date of admission.The regional cortical blood flow （rCBF）,electrocorticography,the depth of cortex damage,and acute histological changes （H and E staining,neuronal staining and neurofilament （NF） staining） were analyzed before and after the operation.The t-test analysis was used to compare the rCBF before and after the operation.Results：The rCBF after coagulation was significantly reduced （P 〈 0.05）.The spikes were significantly reduced after electro-coagulation.For the temporal cortex,the depth of cortical damage with output power of 2-9 W after electro-coagulation was 0.34 ± 0.03,0.48 ± 0.06,0.69 ± 0.06,0.84 ± 0.09,0.98 ± 0.08,1.10 ± 0.1 l,1.11 ± 0.09,and 1.22 ± 0.11 mm,respectively.Coagulation with output power of 4-5 W completely damaged the neurons and NF protein in the molecular layer,external granular layer,and external pyramidal layer.Conclusions：The electro-coagulation not only destroyed the neurons and NF protein,but also reduced the rCBF.We concluded that the injuries caused by electro-coagulation would prevent horizontal synchronization and spread of epileptic discharges,and partially destroy the epileptic focus.

TMEM16F is involved in many physiological processes such as blood coagulation,cell membrane fusion and bone mineralization.Activation of TMEM16F has been studied in various central nervous system diseases.High TMEM16F level has been also found to participate in microglial phagocytosis and transformation.Microglia-mediated neuroinflammation is a key factor in promoting the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.However,few studies have examined the effects of TMEM16F on neuroinflammation in Alzheimer’s disease.In this study,we established TMEM16F-knockdown AD model in vitro and in vivo to investigate the underlying regulatory mechanism about TMEM16F-mediated neuroinflammation in AD.We performed a Morris water maze test to evaluate the spatial memory ability of animals and detected markers for the microglia M1/M2 phenotype and NLRP3 inflammasome.Our results showed that TMEM16F was elevated in 9-month-old APP/PS1 mice.After TMEM16F knockdown in mice,spatial memory ability was improved,microglia polarization to the M2 phenotype was promoted,NLRP3 inflammasome activation was inhibited,cell apoptosis and Aβplaque deposition in brain tissue were reduced,and brain injury was alleviated.We used amyloid-beta(Aβ_(25-35))to stimulate human microglia to construct microglia models of Alzheimer’s disease.The levels of TMEM16F,inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS),proinflammatory cytokines and NLRP3 inflammasome-associated biomarkers were higher in Aβ_(25-35) treated group compared with that in the control group.TMEM16F knockdown enhanced the expression of the M2 phenotype biomarkers Arg1 and Socs3,reduced the release of proinflammatory factors interleukin-1,interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α,and inhibited NLRP3 inflammasome activation through reducing downstream proinflammatory factors interleukin-1βand interleukin-18.This inhibitory effect of TMEM16F knockdown on M1 microglia was partially reversed by the NLRP3 agonist Nigericin.Our findings suggest that TMEM16F participates in neuroinflammation in Alzheimer’s disease throu

为了研究输电线路基础在复杂受力条件下的承载性能的差异，以输电线路工程中常用的人工挖孔桩为对象，选取典型输电线路工程的黄土地基为试验场地，开展了四种荷载工况下输电线路挖孔桩承载性能的现场试验。通过测试桩顶位移、桩端土体压力，分析了不同荷载工况下人工挖孔桩的荷载位移曲线、极限承载力以及桩端土压力。结果表明：由于承载机理及破坏模式的差异，不同性质竖向荷载作用下的挖孔桩，其荷载–竖向位移曲线形态特征呈现明显差异，具体表现为上拔荷载工况时呈“陡降型”，下压荷载工况时呈“缓变型”；对于组合荷载工况下的挖孔桩，下压力提高了其抗水平承载能力，反之，上拔力削弱了其抗水平承载能力；桩端土压力与下压荷载之间关系可回归为二次函数，由于不同类别桩基在水平荷载作用下变形特性的差异，刚性桩桩端土压力偏心作用明显，弹性桩偏心作用不明显。

Objective:To study the correlation of serum inflammatory cytokine and immunoglobulin content with post-herpetic neuralgia in patients with acute herpes zoster.Methods:Patients diagnosed with herpes zoster in our hospital between May 2012 and October 2015 were selected and divided into herpes zoster-post-herpetic neuralgia group (VZV-PHN group) and herpes zoster-control group (VZV-Con group) according to the incidence of post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN);healthy volunteers receiving physical examination in our hospital during the same period were selected as normal control group (Con group).Results: Serumβ-EP, NT, IFN-γ and IL-2 levels of VZV-PHN group and VZV-Con group were significantly lower than those of Con group (P<0.05), while SP, VGF, CGRP, IL-4, IL-6, IL-17, IL-21, TNF-α, IL-10, TGF-β1, IgG, IgM and IgA levels were significantly higher than those of Con group (P<0.05);serumβ-EP, NT, IFN-γ, IL-2, IgG, IgM and IgA levels of VZV-PHN group were significantly lower than those of VZV-Con group (P<0.05) while SP, VGF, CGRP, IL-4, IL-6, IL-17, IL-21, TNF-α, IL-10 and TGF-β1 levels were significantly higher than those of VZV-Con group (P<0.05);β-EP and NT were positively correlated with IFN-γ, IL-2, IgG, IgM and IgA, and negatively correlated with IL-4, IL-6, IL-17, IL-21, TNF-α, IL-10 and TGF-β1;SP, VGF and CGRP were negatively correlated with IFN-γ, IL-2, IgG, IgM and IgA, and positively correlated with IL-4, IL-6, IL-17, IL-21, TNF-α, IL-10 and TGF-β1.Conclusions:Abnormal secretion of inflammatory cytokines and immunoglobulin caused by humoral immune and cellular immune response disorder is associated with the occurrence of post-herpetic neuralgia in patients with acute herpes zoster.

To strengthen the face-centered-cubic(FCC)type CoCrFeNi high-entropy alloy(HEA)by in-situ reinforced phase,(CoCrFeNi)_(100-x)(NbB_(2))_(x)(x=0,2,4,6,8,at.%)alloys were prepared.Phase constitution,microstructure,tensile mechanical properties of the alloys were studied,and the mechanisms were discussed.Results show that the microstructure of all the reinforced alloys consists of the matrix FCC phase,Laves phase,and(Cr_(3)Fe)B_(x) phase.The eutectic structure and(Cr_(3)Fe)B_(x) phases are formed in the interdendritic region,and the eutectic structure is composed of Laves and FCC phases.When x increases from 0 to 8,i.e.,with increase of Nb and B elements,the volume fraction of Laves and(Cr_(3)Fe)B_(x) phases increases gradually from 0 to 5.84%and 8.3%,respectively.Tensile testing results show that the ultimate strength of the alloys increases gradually from 409 MPa to 658 MPa,while the fracture strain decreases from 75%to 1.6%.Fracture analysis shows that the crack originates from the(Cr_(3)Fe)B_(x) phase.The CoCrFeNi alloys are mainly strengthened by the second phase(Laves phase and boride phase).

To the Editor： Cerebral vascular events （intracerebral hemorrhage [ICH] or venous infarction） are the most feared complications of deep brain stimulation （DBS） surgery. The estimated risk of ICH in DBS surgery reportedly varies from 0.2% to 5.6%.[1-3] ICH may develop at one of two sites depending on the puncture tract：（1） in the basal ganglia or target area or （2） in the puncture channel or cortex area. However, venous infarction in association with DBS surgery has rarely been described.[4-6]

Growth and yield responses to simulated hail damage in drip-irrigated cotton

The frequent occurrence of hailstorm in Xinjiang affects cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.)production and causes enormous economic loss.The indeterminate growth habit of cotton allows for varying degrees of recovery and yield when different hail damage levels occur at different stages,which brings inconvenience to agricultural insurance claims and post-damage management.Therefore,this study aimed to elucidate cotton recovery and yield responses to different levels of simulated hail damage at different growth stages.Four levels of hail damage(0,30,60,and 90%)were simulated every 15 d from the five-leaf stage to the boll opening stage in 2018 and 2019,for a total of six times(Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ,Ⅴ,and Ⅵ).The results showed that seed cotton yield decreased as the damage level increased and yield reduction increased when the damage was applied to older plants(for 30,60 and 90% damage levels,yield reduction was 9-17%,22-37% and 48-71%,respectively).One possible reason was that the leaf area index and leaf area duration of plant canopy decreased after hail damage,resulting in a reduction in the accumulation of above-ground biomass.However,when hail damage occurred before bloom,due to the indeterminate growth habit of cotton,the vegetative organs produced a strong compensation ability that promoted the bud development.The compensation ability of vegetative organs decreased when hail damage occurred after bloom and the recovery time was too short to promote new boll maturity.As the first study to understand the recovery of cotton after hail damage,it analyzed the leaf area index,leaf area duration,above-ground biomass accumulation and yield,rather than the yield alone.The findings are of great importance for cotton production as they inform decisions about post-damage management practices,yield forecasts and insurance compensation.

Deep brain stimulation is a therapy for Alzheimer＇s disease（AD） that has previously been used for mainly mild to moderate cases. This study provides the first evidence of early alterations in performance induced by stimulation targeted at the fornix in severe AD patients. The performance of the five cases enrolled in this study was scored with specialized assessments including the Mini-Mental State Examination and Clinical Dementia Rating, both before and at an early stage after deep brain stimulation. The burden of caregivers was also evaluated using the Zarit Caregiver Burden Interview. As a whole, the cognitive performance of patients remained stable or improved to varying degrees, and caregiver burden was decreased. Individually, an improved mental state or social performance was observed in three patients, and one of these three patients showed remarkable improvement in long-term memory. The conditions of another patient deteriorated because of inappropriate antipsychotic medications that were administered by his caregivers. Taken together, deep brain stimulation was capable of improving some cognitive aspects in patients with severe AD, and of ameliorating their emotional and social performance, at least at an early stage. However, long-term effects induced by deep brain stimulation in patients with severe AD need to be further validated. More research should focus on clarifying the mechanism of deep brain stimulation. This study was registered with ClinicalTrials.gov（NCT03115814） on April 14, 2017.
