Effect of order–disorder transition on thermodynamic and electronic properties of σ and χ phases in W–Re alloy: the first-principles calculation

The Tungsten-Rhenium(W-Re) alloys,celebrated for their high melting point,strength at elevated temperatures,electrical resistivity,and radiation resistance,have been widely utilized in high-temperature components,aerospace,electronics,and nuclear *** constituents of the topologically close-packed(TCP) phases,the sigma phase(σ) and chi phase(χ) formed within W-Re alloys wield considerable influence on the mechanical properties and the stability of the *** calculations were utilized in the present work to explore the structural,thermodynamic,and electronic properties of both ordered and disordered configurations within the σ and χ phases,culminating in a systematic elucidation of the higher phase stability exhibited by the ordered *** is found that the bulk modulus of these two phases is directly proportional to the concentration of Re in the alloy,while the equilibrium volume is inversely *** thermodynamic parameters of the σ and χ phases are calculated via the mean-field potential *** similar trends observed in the isobaric heat capacity,enthalpy increment,and entropy change curves for these two phases suggest they possess comparable thermodynamic *** is noteworthy that the contribution of ionic vibrations predominantly affects the isobaric heat capacity,while the contribution of thermal electronic excitations increases linearly with *** the structure and thermodynamic properties of TCP phases in W-Re alloys at low temperatures has profound significance for optimizing material performance,microstructures features,establishing theoretical foundations,and predicting material behavior.

Role of the globus pallidus in motor and non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease

The globus pallidus plays a pivotal role in the basal ganglia circuit. Parkinson's disease is characterized by degeneration of dopamine-producing cells in the substantia nigra, which leads to dopamine deficiency in the brain that subsequently manifests as various motor and non-motor symptoms. This review aims to summarize the involvement of the globus pallidus in both motor and non-motor manifestations of Parkinson's disease. The firing activities of parvalbumin neurons in the medial globus pallidus, including both the firing rate and pattern, exhibit strong correlations with the bradykinesia and rigidity associated with Parkinson's disease. Increased beta oscillations, which are highly correlated with bradykinesia and rigidity, are regulated by the lateral globus pallidus. Furthermore,bradykinesia and rigidity are strongly linked to the loss of dopaminergic projections within the cortical-basal ganglia-thalamocortical loop. Resting tremors are attributed to the transmission of pathological signals from the basal ganglia through the motor cortex to the cerebellum-ventral intermediate nucleus circuit. The cortico–striato–pallidal loop is responsible for mediating pallidi-associated sleep disorders. Medication and deep brain stimulation are the primary therapeutic strategies addressing the globus pallidus in Parkinson's disease. Medication is the primary treatment for motor symptoms in the early stages of Parkinson's disease, while deep brain stimulation has been clinically proven to be effective in alleviating symptoms in patients with advanced Parkinson's disease,particularly for the movement disorders caused by levodopa. Deep brain stimulation targeting the globus pallidus internus can improve motor function in patients with tremordominant and non-tremor-dominant Parkinson's disease, while deep brain stimulation targeting the globus pallidus externus can alter the temporal pattern of neural activity throughout the basal ganglia–thalamus network. Staged dendrite suppression for high safe and stable lithium-sulfur batteries

The unavoidable dendrite growth and shuttle effect have long been stranglehold challenges limiting the safety and practicality of lithium-sulfur ***,we propose a dual-action strategy to address the lithium dendrite issue in stages by constructing a multifunctional surface-negatively-charged nanodiamond layer with high ductility and robust puncture resistance on polypropylene （PP） *** uniformly loaded compact negative layer can not only significantly enhance electron transmission efficiency and promote uniform lithium deposition,but also reduce the formation of dendrite during early deposition *** importantly,under the strong puncture stress encountered during the deterioration of lithium dendrite growth under limiting current,the high ductility and robust puncture resistance（145.88 MPa） of as-obtained nanodiamond layer can effectively prevent short circuits caused by unavoidable lithium *** Li||Li symmetrical cells assembled with nanodiamond layer modified PP demonstrated a stable cycle of over 1000 h at 2 mA cm-2with a polarization voltage of only 29.3 ***,the negative charged layer serves as a physical barrier blocking lithium polysulfide ions,effectively mitigating capacity *** improved cells achieved a capacity decay of only 0.042%per cycle after 700 cycles at 3 C,demonstrating effective suppression of dendrite growth and capacity attenuation,showing promising prospect.

Synthesis of chiral phosphine derivatives through a copper（I）-catalyzed desymmetric SNAr reaction

Axially chiral phosphines are a class of extremely important ligands in asymmetric catalysis. Herein, an unprecedented copper（I）-catalyzed asymmetric SNAr reaction with HP（S）R2is uncovered, which delivers a series of axially chiral phosphine derivatives in high yields with excellent enantioselectivity. Furthermore, the diastereoselective reaction with the kinetic resolution of racemic HP（S）ArR proceeds smoothly, providing the products with moderate diastereoselectivity and excellent enantioselectivity. Control experiments indicate that HP（S）Ph2is much more active than HPPh2and HP（O）Ph2as the pronucleophile in the present reaction. It is found that the SNAr reaction （the first SNAr） proceeds in a desymmetric manner, providing the desired chiral products while a continued SNAr reaction （the second SNAr） slightly occurs in a kinetic resolution manner in the present catalytic system, which enhances the ee of the desired chiral products. DFTcalculations support a concerted reaction pathway rather than a step-wise mechanism. Finally, axially chiral olefin-phosphines produced by the present method work as suitable ligands in Pdcatalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution with C-, N-, and O-nucleophiles and Rh-catalyzed asymmetric addition of arylboronic acid to benzil.

Joint power allocation and multi-relay selection scheme based on system outage probability

An amplify-and-forward （AF） based multi-relay network is studied. In order to minimize the system outage probability with a required transmission rate, a joint power allocation （PA） and multi-relay selection scheme is proposed under both total and individual power constraints （TIPC）. In the proposed scheme, the idea of ordering is adopted to avoid exhaustive search without losing much system performance. Besides the channel quantity, the ordering algorithm proposed in this article also takes relays＇ maximal output ability into consideration, which is usually ignored in traditional relay ordering algorithms. In addition, simple power reallocation method is provided to avoid repetitive PA operation during the process of searching all possible relay subsets. By Adopting the idea of ordering and using the proposed power reallocation method lead to remarkable decrease of the computation complexity, making the scheme easier and more feasible to implement in practical communication scenarios. Simulations show that the proposed multi-relay selection scheme provides similar performance compared to the optimal scheme with optimal PA and exhaustive search （OPAES） but with much lower complexity.

BACKGROUND Primary squamous cell carcinoma(SCC)of the renal parenchyma is extremely rare,with only nine cases *** SUMMARY This study reports a 51-year-old man with primary SCC of the renal *** patient was admitted with recurrent dull pain and discomfort in the right lumbar region,which had worsened over 2 weeks,accompanied by painful gross *** antigen(SCCA)levels were elevated,and imaging revealed a renal mass with associated *** patient underwent laparoscopic unilateral nephrectomy and lymph node *** pathology confirmed highly differentiated SCC with necrosis in the right renal parenchyma,with negative renal pelvis and *** pathological stage was *** months after surgery,the tumor recurred with involvement of the liver,right psoas major muscle,and inferior vena *** patient refused chemotherapy and succumbed to the disease 6 months postoperatively due to disease *** We report a case of primary SCC of the renal parenchyma,a rare renal *** clinical symptoms,laboratory tests,and imaging findings are nonspecific,making accurate and timely diagnosis *** to the literature,for patients with renal calculi accompanied by a renal mass,elevated serum SCCA levels,and magnetic resonance imaging showing cystic or cystic-solid masses within the kidney with pseudocapsules and heterogeneous mild enhancement,the possibility of this disease should be considered.

Updating conventional soil maps by mining soil–environment relationships from individual soil polygons

Conventional soil maps contain valuable knowledge on soil–environment *** knowledge can be extracted for use when updating conventional soil maps with improved environmental *** methods take all polygons of the same map unit on a map as a whole to extract the soil–environment *** approach ignores the difference in the environmental conditions represented by individual soil polygons of the same map *** paper proposes a method of mining soil–environment relationships from individual soil polygons to update conventional soil *** proposed method consists of three major ***,the soil–environment relationships represented by each individual polygon on a conventional soil map are extracted in the form of frequency distribution curves for the involved environmental ***,for each environmental covariate,these frequency distribution curves from individual polygons of the same soil map unit are synthesized to form the overall soil–environment relationship for that soil map unit across the mapped *** lastly,the extracted soil–environment relationships are applied to updating the conventional soil map with new,improved environmental data by adopting a soil land inference model(SoLIM)*** study applied the proposed method to updating a conventional soil map of the Raffelson watershed in La Crosse County,Wisconsin,United *** result from the proposed method was compared with that from the previous method of taking all polygons within the same soil map unit on a map as a *** results with independent soil samples showed that the proposed method exhibited better performance and produced higher accuracy.

Effects of the microstructure of twin roll cast and hot rolled plates on the surface quality of presensitized plates

The effect of the microstructure of plates fabricated both in the traditional process, involving casting, hot rolling and cold rolling （HR）, and in the novel twin roll casting ＋ cold rolling （TRC） process on the surface quality of presensitized （PS） plates was analyzed by optical microscopy （OM）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDXS）. The formation of pores on the surface of the electrolyzed HR plate could be attributed to the presence of approximately 1-μm-sized large Al-Fe precipitates in the HR plate compared to the smaller precipitates in the TRC plate. Moreover, residual graphite lubricants used during the TRC process were entrapped on the surface of the TRC plate during the subsequent rolling process. The entrapped pollutants tended to further deteriorate the formation of pores on the surface of the TRC plate, and no residual carbon was detected on the surface of the HR plate. Furthermore, the surface quality of the TRC plate can be improved by surface cleaning before the cold rolling process, which could dramatically lower the residual graphite on the surface.
