Short-term displacement prediction for newly established monitoring slopes based on transfer learning

This study makes a significant progress in addressing the challenges of short-term slope displacement prediction in the Universal Landslide Monitoring Program,an unprecedented disaster mitigation program in China,where lots of newly established monitoring slopes lack sufficient historical deformation data,making it difficult to extract deformation patterns and provide effective predictions which plays a crucial role in the early warning and forecasting of landslide hazards.A slope displacement prediction method based on transfer learning is therefore ***,the method transfers the deformation patterns learned from slopes with relatively rich deformation data by a pre-trained model based on a multi-slope integrated dataset to newly established monitoring slopes with limited or even no useful data,thus enabling rapid and efficient predictions for these ***,as time goes on and monitoring data accumulates,fine-tuning of the pre-trained model for individual slopes can further improve prediction accuracy,enabling continuous optimization of prediction results.A case study indicates that,after being trained on a multi-slope integrated dataset,the TCN-Transformer model can efficiently serve as a pretrained model for displacement prediction at newly established monitoring *** three-day average RMSE is significantly reduced by 34.6%compared to models trained only on individual slope data,and it also successfully predicts the majority of deformation *** fine-tuned model based on accumulated data on the target newly established monitoring slope further reduced the three-day RMSE by 37.2%,demonstrating a considerable predictive *** conclusion,taking advantage of transfer learning,the proposed slope displacement prediction method effectively utilizes the available data,which enables the rapid deployment and continual refinement of displacement predictions on newly established monitoring slopes.

Gene therapy for monogenic disorders: challenges, strategies, and perspectives

Monogenic disorders refer to a group of human diseases caused by mutations in single genes. While disease-modifying therapies have offered some relief from symptoms and delayed progression for some monogenic diseases, most of these diseases still lack effective treatments. In recent decades, gene therapy has emerged as a promising therapeutic strategy for genetic disorders. Researchers have developed various gene manipulation tools and gene delivery systems to treat monogenic diseases. Despite this progress, concerns about inefficient delivery, persistent expression, immunogenicity, toxicity, capacity limitation, genomic integration, and limited tissue specificity still need to be addressed. This review gives an overview of commonly used gene therapy and delivery tools, along with the challenges they face and potential strategies to counter them.

Study on the tribological properties of metal rolling bearing under lubrication with diketone lubricants

In this article, 1-(4-ethylphenyl)-nonane-1,3-dione(0206) was prepared by Claisen condensation. By mixing 0206, chelate, and base oil in a ratio of 3.2:4.8:2, a diketone lubricant(PAO=14(20%)) that can achieve superlubricity was prepared and applied to bearing lubrication experiments. The experimental results show that when the bearing was lubricated by base oil, the friction coefficient(COF) and temperature rise decreased with the decrease of the viscosity of PAO. When PAO=14(20%) was used as the lubricant, the COF of the bearing was the lowest(0.001), and the wear morphology was comparable to that of the bearing lubricated with commercial lubricant. Compared with the base oil with the same viscosity, it is found that the COF and temperature rise of the bearing lubricated by PAO=14(20%) were lower under any experimental conditions. And when the amount of lubricant added was 10 μL, the COF of the bearing lubricated by PAO=14(20%) reached a very low value(0.0004).Bearing ball surface analysis identified the formation of diketone adsorption films. Combined with the previous PAO=14(20%)superlubricity mechanism, it was considered that the occurrence of tribochemical reaction and the bearing effect of chelates were the main reasons for the existence of ultra-low friction coefficient and low wear. In addition, when there were polar molecules in the lubricant, they were adsorbed on the metal surface through tribochemical reactions, resulting in many irregular pits on the surface.

Advances in noble metal-modified g-C3N4 heterostructures toward enhanced photocatalytic redox ability

The photocatalytic activity of catalysts depends on the energy-harvesting ability and the separation or transport of photogenerated carriers. The light absorption capacity of graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4)-based composites can be enhanced by adjusting the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of noble metal nanoparticles (e.g., Cu, Au, and Pd) in the entire visible region. Adjustments can be carried out by varying the nanocomponents of the materials. The SPR of noble metals can enhance the local electromagnetic field and improve interband transition, and resonant energy transfer occurs from plasmonic dipoles to electron–hole pairs via near-field electromagnetic interactions. Thus, noble metals have emerged as relevant nanocomponents for g-C3N4 used in CO2 photoreduction and water splitting. Herein, recent key advances in noble metals (either in single atom, cluster, or nanoparticle forms) and composite photocatalysts based on inorganic or organic nanocomponent-incorporated g-C3N4 nanosheets are systematically discussed, including the applications of these photocatalysts, which exhibit improved photoinduced charge mobility in CO2 photoconversion and H2 production. Issues related to the different types of multi-nanocomponent heterostructures (involving Schottky junctions, Z-/S-scheme heterostructures, noble metals, and additional semiconductor nanocomponents) and the adjustment of dimensionality of heterostructures (by incorporating noble metal nanoplates on g-C3N4 forming 2D/2D heterostructures) are explored. The current prospects and possible challenges of g-C3N4 composite photocatalysts incorporated with noble metals (e.g., Au, Pt, Pd, and Cu), particularly in water splitting, CO2 reduction, pollution degradation, and chemical conversion applications, are summarized.

*** Pegmatite hosts important resource of rare metals,e.g.,lithium(Li)and beryllium(Be).In recent years,increasingly more studies were dedicated to characterize and unravel the formation of pegmatite-type deposits,for which accurate dating of pegmatite formation and mineralization is *** Songpan-Ganzi orogenic belt is a major rare metal metallogenic belt in China,hosting many important pegmatite-type Li deposits,including the Lijiagou,Dangba,Jiajika,Yelonggou,Cuola,and *** age data(mica Ar-Ar and zircon/cassiterite U-Pb)from these Li deposits are sparse,ranging from 210 to 152 ***,obtaining reliable zircon U-Pb dates can be a challenge due to the strong decidualization in *** a result,the formation and mineralization ages of these rare metal pegmatites remain controversial,which hampers the development of pegmatite-type metallogenic model for the Songpan-Ganzi orogenic belt.

Deciphering and integrating invariants for neural operator learning with various physical mechanisms

Neural operators have been explored as surrogate models for simulating physical systems to overcome the limitations of traditional partial differential equation(PDE) solvers. However, most existing operator learning methods assume that the data originate from a single physical mechanism, limiting their applicability and performance in more realistic scenarios. To this end, we propose the physical invariant attention neural operator(PIANO) to decipher and integrate the physical invariants for operator learning from the PDE series with various physical mechanisms. PIANO employs self-supervised learning to extract physical knowledge and attention mechanisms to integrate them into dynamic convolutional *** to existing techniques, PIANO can reduce the relative error by 13.6%–82.2% on PDE forecasting tasks across varying coefficients, forces or boundary conditions. Additionally, varied downstream tasks reveal that the PI embeddings deciphered by PIANO align well with the underlying invariants in the PDE systems, verifying the physical significance of PIANO.

Studies on the Interaction of DNA and Ru(1,10-phenanthroline)_2-(dipyrido[3,2-a:2′,3′-c]phenazine)^(2+)

The interaction of Ru(phen) 2(dppz) 2+ (phen=1,10 phenanthroline,dppz=dipyrido[3,2 a:2′,3′ c]phenazine) and the calfthymus DNA were studied with fluorescence and ultraviolet visible absorption spectroscopy. The ultraviolet visible absorption spectrum of Ru(phen) 2(dppz) 2+ , calfthymus DNA, and their interaction demonstrated that Ru(phen) 2(dppz) 2+ intercalated into the double helix of DNA via the ligand dppz. Fe(CN) 6 4- and NaCl can not quench the fluorescence of Ru(phen) 2(dppz) 2+ DNA, which was in agreement with the intercalation mode.

Topological and superconducting properties of monolayered CoN and CoP:A first-principles comparative study

Two-dimensional systems that simultaneously harbor superconductivity and nontrivial band topology may serve as appealing platforms for realizing topological superconductivity with promising applications in fault-tolerant quantum ***,based on first-principles calculations,we show that monolayered Co N and Co P with the isovalent Fe Se-like structure are stable in freestanding form,even though their known bulk phases have no resemblance to *** two systems are further revealed to display intrinsic band inversions due to crystal field splitting,and such orderings are preserved with the inclusion of spin-orbit coupling(SOC),which otherwise is able to open a curved band gap,yielding a non-zero Z2 topological invariant in each *** a mechanism of topologicalization is distinctly contrasted with that identified recently for the closely related monolayers of CoX(X=As,Sb,Bi),where the SOC plays an indispensable role in causing a nontrivial band ***,we demonstrate that,by applying equi-biaxial tensile strain,the electron-phonon coupling strength in monolayered CoN can be significantly enhanced,yielding a superconducting transition temperature(Tc)up to 7-12 K for the Coulomb pseudopotential ofμ*=0.2-0.1,while the CoP monolayer shows very low Tc even under pronounced *** different superconducting behaviors can be attributed to different variations in lattice softening and electronic density of states around the Fermi level upon *** central findings enrich the understanding of different mechanisms of band inversions and topologicalization and offer platforms for achieving the coexistence of superconductivity and nontrivial band topology based on two-dimensional systems.

SNR-adaptive deep joint source-channel coding scheme for image semantic transmission with convolutional block attention module

With the development of deep learning(DL),joint source-channel coding(JSCC)solutions for end-to-end transmission have gained a lot of *** deep JSCC schemes support dynamically adjusting the rate according to different channel conditions during transmission,enhancing robustness in dynamic wireless ***,most of the existing adaptive JSCC schemes only consider different channel conditions,ignoring the different feature importance in the image processing and *** uniform compression of different features in the image may result in the compromise of critical image details,particularly in low signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)*** address the above issues,in this paper,a dual attention mechanism is introduced and an SNR-adaptive deep JSCC mechanism with a convolutional block attention module(CBAM)is proposed,in which matrix operations are applied to features in spatial and channel dimensions *** proposed solution concatenates the pooling feature with the SNR level and passes it sequentially through the channel attention network and spatial attention network to obtain the importance evaluation *** show that the proposed solution outperforms other baseline schemes in terms of peak SNR(PSNR)and structural similarity(SSIM),particularly in low SNR scenarios or when dealing with complex image content.

The interfacial characteristics of the Li metal anode(LMA)play a crucial role in its overall *** various materials being applied to modify the interface,a comprehensive understanding of their specific mechanisms remains to be ***,we have prepared carbon cloth(CC)frameworks with their surfaces modified using ferromagnetic metal/LiF heterogeneous films(T^(M)-LiF-CC)as the substrate for LMA,which exhibit superior electrochemical *** ferromagnetic Co as a representative example,our study demonstrates that the enhanced performance of Co-LiF-CC,compared to bare CC,is attributed to the spinpolarized interface contributed by the Co/LiF *** and LiF play individual roles in redistributing electrons and Li^(+)to promote homogeneous Li *** nanoparticles play a crucial role in generating strong surface capacitance by storing electrons in spin-split bands,while LiF,with low surface diffusion barriers,ensures fast transportation of Li^(+).The Co-LiF-CC@Li electrodes deliver long lives of 7400 and 3600 h at 1 and 2 mA·cm^(-2)in symmetric cells,respectively;moreover,they enable full batteries with high and durable capacities,particularly when the N/P ratios are low(3.3 or even 1.7).
