Wire arc additive manufacturing of a novel ATZM31 Mg alloy:Microstructure evolution and mechanical properties

The preparation of large-scale magnesium(Mg)alloy parts by wire arc additive manufacturing(WAAM)has broad application prospects,including automotive and aerospace *** chemical composition of Mg alloy wires plays a critical role in determining mechanical properties of WAAM Mg ***,types of Mg alloy wires for WAAM need to be extended,in order to improve mechanical ***,in the present work,a novel ATZM31 Mg alloy wire has been prepared and applied to the cold metal transfer(CMT)-WAAM *** study focuses on understanding the forming quality,microstructure evolution,and mechanical properties of the ATZM31 alloy thin-wall component fabricated by *** results show that the Mg alloy thin-wall component possesses satisfactory formability,with minor sidewall *** ATZM31 thin-wall component is mainly composed of columnar dendrites and equiaxed dendrites of the α-Mg phase,with theη-Al8Mn5phase distributes dispersedly at grain *** area fraction of the η-Al8Mn5phase is estimated to be~0.21%based on the statistical analysis of SEM *** to different cooling behaviors,the distribution of grain size along the build direction of the thin-walled component is *** average grain size is~46μm,~74μm and~61μm at the bottom,middle and top of the ATZM31 alloy thin-wall component,*** the substrate to the top of the ATZM31 alloy thin-wall component,the hardness decreases *** ultimate tensile strength along the deposition direction and build direction are~225 MPa and~214 MPa,respectively,without pronounced *** ATZM31 alloy thin-wall component fabricated by WAAM exhibits a comparable ultimate tensile strength to forged AZ31 Mg alloys and weaker anisotropy than wrought Mg alloys.

Molecular dynamics simulations of helium transport through inorganic mineral nanopores

Helium transport through nanoscale inorganic mineral pores and pore throats is essential for its overall *** elucidate helium's transport dynamics within nanopores,we employed equilibrium and non-equilibrium molecular dynamics simulations to investigate helium's static self-diffusion and pressure-driven flow in quartz slit-shaped *** also introduced water and various gases,including hydrogen,methane,ethane,nitrogen,and carbon dioxide,into the nanopores to assess their influence on helium *** findings indicate minimal helium adsorption on quartz pore *** conditions where the pore size is less than 5 nm and the pressure under 10 MPa,environmental factors markedly influence helium *** pore sizes,high temperatures,and low gas pressures enhance helium desorption and facilitate faster *** observed a positive correlation between helium flow velocity and factors such as pore size,pressure gradient,and surface smoothness of the ***,the presence of pore water and carrier gases in quartz nanopores,which diffuse more slowly than helium,tends to reduce helium surface adsorption and slow its *** the carrier gases studied,nitrogen showed similar adsorption capacity,diffusivity,and stability to helium,while carbon dioxide displayed the highest adsorption capacity and the slowest diffusion rate,markedly differing from *** on the simulation results,we concluded that water and carrier gases primarily function as transport mediums in helium migration,moving together with ***,which shares similar properties with helium,effectively assists in this co-migration ***,carbon dioxide,due to its high adsorption capacity and slow diffusion,tends to be lost during *** a result,gas reservoirs with high nitrogen levels and low carbon dioxide levels are more likely to have higher helium ***,the smaller pore sizes and higher gas pressures in caproc

SiC_(p)/AZ91 composites were prepared by vacuum pressure *** microstructure,mechanical properties and wear resistance of composite were *** indicated that SiC particles were uniformly distributed in the metal matrix and had a good interface bonding with the metal ***_(17)Al_(12) preferably precipitated near the SiC particles,and high-density dislocations were induced by the mismatch of the coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE)between the SiC particle and the AZ91 matrix,thereby accelerating the aging precipitation of the *** with AZ91 alloy,the addition of SiC particles improves the hardness and compressive strength of the composite,which is mainly due to the load transfer strengthening and grain refinement strengthening ***,a stable support surface-protecting matrix formed during the wear process because of the excellent wear resistance of SiC.

Thrombolysis and extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation for cardiac arrest due to pulmonary embolism:A case report

BACKGROUND Cardiac arrest caused by acute pulmonary embolism(PE)is the most serious clinical circumstance,necessitating rapid identification,immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR),and systemic thrombolytic *** CPR(ECPR)is typically employed as a rescue therapy for selected patients when conventional CPR is failing in settings where it can be *** SUMMARY We present a case of a 69-year-old male who experienced a prolonged cardiac arrest in an ambulance with pulseless electrical *** arrival at the emergency department with ongoing manual chest compressions,bedside pointof-care ultrasound revealed an enlarged right ventricle without *** PE was suspected as the cause of cardiac arrest,and intravenous thrombolytic therapy with 50 mg tissue plasminogen activator was administered during mechanical chest *** 31 minutes of CPR,return of spontaneous circulation was not achieved until 8 minutes after initiation of Veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation(ECMO)*** ECMO support,the hemodynamic status and myocardial contractility significantly ***,the patient ultimately did not survive due to intracerebral hemorrhagic complications,leading to death a few days later in the *** This case illustrates the potential of combining systemic thrombolysis with ECPR for refractory cardiac arrest caused by acute PE,but it also highlights the increased risk of significant bleeding complications,including fatal intracranial hemorrhage.

Fast and robust production of quantum superposition states by the fractional shortcut to adiabaticity

The fractional shortcut to adiabaticity(f-STA)for the production of quantum superposition states is proposed firstly via a three-level system with aΛ-type linkage pattern and a four-level system with a tripod *** fast and robust production of the coherent superposition states is studied by comparing the populations for the f-STA and the fractional stimulated Raman adiabatic passage(f-STIRAP).The states with equal proportions can be produced by fixing the controllable parameters of the driving pulses at the final moment of the whole *** effects of the pulse intensity and the time delay of the pulses on the production process are discussed by monitoring the populations on all of the quantum *** particular,the spontaneous emission arising from the intermediate state is investigated by the quantum master *** result reveals that the f-STA exhibits superior advantages over the f-STIRAP in producing the superposition states.

BACKGROUND Type Ⅱ diabetes mellitus(T2DM)has been associated with increased risk of colon cancer(CC)and worse prognosis in patients with *** effects of T2DM on postoperative chemoresistance rate(CRR)and long-term disease-free survival(DFS)and overall survival(OS)in patients with stage Ⅲ CC who receive curative resection remain *** To investigate whether T2DM or glycemic control is associated with worse postoperative survival outcomes in stage Ⅲ *** This retrospective cohort study included 278 patients aged 40-75 years who underwent surgery for stage Ⅲ CC from 2018 to *** on preoperative T2DM history,the patients were categorized into non-DM(n=160)and DM groups(n=118).The latter was further divided into well-controlled(n=73)and poorly controlled(n=45)groups depending on the status of glycemic ***,OS,and CRR were compared between the groups and Cox regression analysis was used to identify risk *** Patients in the DM and non-DM groups demonstrated similar DFS,OS,and CRR(DFS:72.03%vs 78.75%,P=0.178;OS:81.36%vs 83.12%,P=0.638;CRR:14.41%vs 7.5%,P=0.063).Poorly controlled DM was associated with a significantly worse prognosis and higher CRR than well-controlled DM(DFS:62.22%vs 78.07%,P=0.021;OS:71.11%vs 87.67%,P=0.011;CRR:24.40%vs 8.22%,P=0.015).High preoperative fasting plasma glucose[DFS:Hazard ratio(HR)=2.684,P<0.001;OS:HR=2.105,P=0.019;CRR:HR=2.214,P=0.005]and glycosylated hemoglobin levels(DFS:HR=2.344,P=0.006;OS:HR=2.119,P=0.021;CRR:HR=2.449,P=0.009)indicated significantly poor prognosis and high CRR,while T2DM history did not(DFS:HR=1.178,P=0.327;OS:HR=0.933,P=0.739;CRR:HR=0.997,P=0.581).CONCLUSION Increased preoperative fasting plasma glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin levels,but not T2DM history,were identified as risk factors associated with poor postoperative outcomes and high CRR in patients with stage Ⅲ CC.
