Determination of trace arsenic(V) by catalytic solid substrate-room temperature phosphorescence quenching method

In the H2SO4 medium and in the presence of dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid sodiumsalt (DBS), dimethyl yellow (R) could emit strong and stable solid substrate room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) on filter paper. And NaIO4 could oxidize R to cause the RTP quenching. Arsenic(V) could catalyze the reaction of NaIO4 oxidizing R, which caused the RTP sharply quenching. The reducing value of phosphorescence intensity (ΔIp) for the system with DBS is 3.3 times higher than that without DBS. Moreover, the ΔIp is proportional to the concentration of As(V). Based on the facts above, a new RTP quenching method for the determination of trace As(V) has been established.

Interim 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose(FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography(I-PET/CT) is a powerful tool for monitoring the response to therapy in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL). This retrospective study aimed to determine when and how to use I-PET/CT in DLBCL. A total of 197 patients treated with rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone(R-CHOP) were enrolled between October 2005 and July 2011; PET/CT was performed at the time of diagnosis(PET/CT0), after 2 and 4 cycles of chemotherapy(PET/CT2 and PET/CT4, respectively), and at the end of treatment(F-PET/CT). According to the International Harmonization Project for Response Criteria in Lymphoma, 110 patients had negative PET/CT2 scans, and 87 had positive PET/CT2 scans. The PET/CT2-negative patients had significantly higher 3-year progression-free survival rate(75.8% vs. 38.2%) and 3-year overall survival rate(93.5% vs. 55.6%) than PET/CT2-positive patients. All PET/CT2-negative patients remained negative at PET/CT4, but 3 were positive at F-PET/CT. Among the 87 PET/CT2-positive patients, 57 remained positive at F-PET/CT, and 32 progressed during chemotherapy(15 at PET/CT4 and 17 at F-PET/CT). Comparing PET/CT4 with PET/CT0, 7 patients exhibited progression, and 8 achieved partial remission. Comparing F-PET/CT with PET/CT0, 10 patients exhibited progression, and 7 achieved partial remission. In conclusion, our results indicate that I-PET/CT should be performed after 2 rather than 4 cycles of immunochemotherapy in DLBCL patients. There is a limited role for subsequent PET/CT in the detection of relapse in PET/CT2-negative patients, but repeat PET/CT is required if the PET/CT2 findings are positive.

A new method for the determination of trace calcium by solid substrate-room temperature phosphorimetry is established. It is based on the fact that chromeazurols azurol S-phenanthroline-NaCMC (CAS-phen-NaCMC) system can emit strong and stable room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) on the solid substrate in the filter paper. Ca(2+) and phenanthroline can form complex ion Ca(phen)3(2+), which will form complex [Ca(phen)3(CAS)2] with CAS. In the result, the number of CAS molecules in each spot increased, causing sharp increase of the RTP signal of the CAS-phen-NaCMC system.

Background:Nasal-type extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma(ENKTCL) originates primarily in the nasal cavity or extra-nasal sites within the upper aerodigestive ***,it is unclear whether the primary site can serve as an independent prognostic factor or whether the varying clinical outcomes observed with different primary sites can be attributed merely to their propensities of regional lymph node *** aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic implications of the primary site and regional lymph node involvement in patients with early-stage nasal-type ***:To develop a nomogram,we reviewed the clinical data of 215 consecutively diagnosed patients with early-stage nasal-type ENKTCL who were treated in Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center with chemotherapy and radiotherapy between 2000 and *** predictive accuracy and discriminative ability of the nomogram were determined using a concordance index(C-index) and calibration ***:The 5-year overall survival(OS) and progression-free survival(PFS) rates of patients with nasal ENKTCL were higher than those of patients with extra-nasal ENKTCL(OS:68.2%vs.46.0%,P = 0.030;PFS:53.4%vs.26.6%,P = 0.010).The 5-year OS and PFS rates of patients with Ann Arbor stage IE ENKTCL were higher than those of patients with Ann Arbor stage HE ENKTCL(OS:66.3%vs.59.2%,P = 0.003;PFS:51.4%vs.40.3%,P = 0.009).Multivariate analysis showed that age >60 years,ECOG performance status score >2,elevated lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) level,extranasal primary site,and regional lymph node involvement were significantly associated with lower 5-year OS rate;age >60 years,elevated LDH level,extra-nasal primary site,and regional lymph node involvement were significantly associated with lower 5-year PFS *** nomogram included the primary site and regional lymph node involvement based on multivariate *** calibration curve showed good agreement between the predicted and actual 5-year OS and PFS rate

The invasive Muridae are arguably among the most destructive alien animal species on the planet,for example,leading to the extinction of native birds and reptiles,the spread of zoonotic diseases,the destruction of buildings,and the contamination of food(Doherty et al.2016;Zhang et al.2022).The lesser bandicoot rat Bandicota bengalensis is a giant rat of the Muridae family,which is mainly distributed in South and Southeast Asia such as India and Myanmar and become one of major pest rodents(Singleton et al.2003;Rao et al.2019).In China,the lesser bandicoot rat has long been recorded only in 2 narrow border regions of southwest Xinjiang and southwest Tibet.

The program of the Shanghai Environmental Specimen Bank (SESB) has been established recently and its current status is briefly described. Typical specimen such as water and sediment of Suzhou creek, city particulate matter are collected and some results which have been obtained during the long term permanent operation of this project since 1998 are presented. Moreover, further aspects of environmental data evaluation and assessment are discussed.
