Efficacy evaluation of neuroendoscopy vs burr hole drainage in the treatment of chronic subdural hematoma:An observational study

BACKGROUND Chronic subdural hematoma(CSDH)is a common disease in *** traditional treatment methods include burr hole drainage,bone flap craniectomy and other surgical methods,and there are certain complications such as recurrence,pneumocephalus,infection and so *** the promotion of neuroendoscopic technology,its treatment effect and advantages need to be further *** To study the clinical effect of endoscopic small-bone approach in *** A total of 122 patients with CSDH admitted to our hospital from August 2018 to August 2021 were randomly divided into two groups using the digital table method:the neuroendoscopy group(n=61 cases)and the burr hole drainage group(n=61 cases).The clinical treatment effect of the two groups of patients with CSDH was *** At the early postoperative stage(1 d and 3 d),the proportion of 1/2 re-expansion of brain tissue in the hematoma cavity and the proportion of complete reexpansion was higher in the neuroendoscopy group than in the burr hole drainage group,and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).The recurrence rate of hematoma in the neuroendoscopy group was lower than that in the burr hole drainage group,and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).No intracranial hematoma,low cranial pressure,tension pneumocephalus or other complications occurred in the neuroendoscopy *** The neuroendoscopic approach for the treatment of CSDH can clear the hematoma under direct vision and separate the mucosal *** surgical effect is apparent with few complications and definite curative effect,which is worthy of clinical promotion and application.

Circulating miR-125a but not miR-125b is decreased in active disease status and negatively correlates with disease severity as well as inflammatory cytokines in patients with Crohn's disease

AIM To determine the association of circulating mi R-125 a/b expression with the risk and disease severity of Crohn's disease(CD), and with inflammatory *** Plasma samples were collected from patients with active CD(A-CD), or CD in remission(R-CD) and from healthy controls(HCs). The levels of the inflammatory cytokines interleukin-17(IL-17), tumour necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), and interferon-γ(IFN-γ) were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The expression of mi R-125 a/b was assessed by quantitative polymerase chain reaction(q PCR).RESULTS Twenty-nine A-CD patients, 37 R-CD patients, and 37 HCs were included in the study. Plasma mi R-125 a expression was decreased in A-CD patients comparedwith that in R-CD patients(P < 0.001) and HCs(P < 0.001). mi R-125 a expression levels enabled the differentiation of A-CD from R-CD patients [area under curve(AUC) = 0.854] and from HCs(AUC = 0.780), whereas mi R-125 b expression did not. mi R-125 a was negatively correlated with C-reaction protein(CRP)(P = 0.017), erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR)(P = 0.026), Crohn's disease activity index(CDAI)(P = 0.003), IL-17(P = 0.015), and TNF-α(P = 0.004) in A-CD patients. Furthermore, mi R-125 a was negatively associated with CRP(P = 0.038) and CDAI(P = 0.021) in R-CD patients. Regarding mi R-125 b, no association with CRP, CDAI, IL-17, TNF-α, or IFN-γ was found in A-CD or in R-CD patients. mi R-125 a levels gradually increased in A-CD patients who achieved clinical remission(P = 0.009) after 3-mo treatment, whereas they remained unchanged among patients who failed to achieve remission. No changes in mi R-125 b expression were detected in remission or non-remission patients after treatment. CONCLUSION Circulating mi R-125 a but not mi R-125 b is decreased in patients with active disease status and negatively correlates with disease severity and inflammatory cytokines in patients with CD.

Study on the effect of ground motion direction on the response of engineering structure

Due to the randomness of earthquake wave magnitude and direction, and the uncertain direction of strong axis and weak axis in the construction of engineering structures, the effect of the direction of ground motion on a structure are studied herein. Ground motion records usually contain three vertical ground motion data, which are obtained by sensors arranged in accordance with the EW （East -West） direction, NS （South- North） direction and perpendicular to the surface （z） direction, referring to the construction standard of seismic stations. The seismic records in the EW and NS directions are converted to Cartesian coordinates in accordance with the rotation of θ = 0°-180°, and consequently, a countless group of new ground motion time histories are obtained. Then, the characteristics of the ground motion time history and response spectrum of each group were studied, resulting in the following observations：（1） the peak and phase of ground motion are changed with the rotation of direction θ, so that the direction θ of the maximum peak ground motion can be determined; （2） response spectrum values of each group of ground motions change along with the direction θ, and their peak, predominant period and declining curve are also different as the changes occur; then, the angle θ in the direction of the maximum peak value or the widest predominant period can be determined; and （3） the seismic response of structures with different directions of ground motion inputs has been analyzed under the same earthquake record, and the results show the difference. For some ground motion records, such as the Taft seismic wave, these differences are significant. Next, the Lushan middle school gymnasium structure was analyzed and the calculation was checked using the proposed method, where the internal force of the upper space truss varied from 25% to 28%. Nonlinear Masking and Iterative Learning Decryption for Secure Communications

Typical masking techniques adopted in the conventional secure communication schemes are the additive masking and modulation by multiplication. In order to enhance security, this paper presents a nonlinear masking methodology, applicable to the conventional schemes. In the proposed cryptographic scheme, the plaintext spans over a pre-specified finite-time interval, which is modulated through parameter modulation, and masked chaotically by a nonlinear mechanism. An efficient iterative learning algorithm is exploited for decryption, and the sufficient condition for convergence is derived, by which the learning gain can be chosen. Case studies are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed masking method.

Repellent,larvicidal and adulticidal activities of essential oil from Dai medicinal plant Zingiber cassumunar against Aedes albopictus

Zingiber cassumunar is an important plant used in traditional medicine and as a natural mosquito ***,the compounds responsible for the repellent activity of the plant are still *** aim of the study is to identify the components of *** essential oil that show repellent activity against Aedes *** also evaluated the larvicidal and adulticidal activities of *** essential oil against ***-cage mosquito repellent experiments showed that *** essential oil possessed moderate repellent activity with a minimum effective dose(MED)of 0.16±0.01 mg/cm^(20,compared to reference standard N,N-diethyl-3-methylbenzamide(DEET,0.03±0.01 mg/cm^(20).Bioassay-guided fractionation identified the major active compound of *** essential oil as(-)-terpinen-4-ol(1)(MED:0.19±0 mg/cm^(20).We also found that *** essential oil showed moderate larvicidal activity against first instar larvae of *** with a LC50(50%lethal concentration)of 44.9 mg/L after 24 *** bioassays showed that *** essential oil exhibits moderate adulticidal activity against *** with a LC50 of 5.44%,while(-)-terpinen-4-ol showed significant adulticidal activity with a LC50 of 2.10%after 24 *** study verifies that the *** essential oil has mosquito repellent activity,and that(-)-terpinen-4-ol is mainly responsible for this ***,this study provides scientific support for the folk usage of *** essential oil as mosquito repellent and indicates that *** essential oil and(-)-terpinen-4-ol can be used as plant-derived repellents and insecticides for mosquito control.

Analysis of blasting vibration signal of high steep anti-dip layered rock slope

Blasting is one of the most economical and efficient mining methods in open-pit mine ***,behind the huge benefits,it poses a hidden threat to the quality of slope rock mass,stability of slope,and safety of nearby *** order to explore the influence of blasting vibration on the stability of anti-dip layered rock slopes,herein,the site near the large-scale toppling failure area of Changshanhao gold mine stope of Inner Mongolia Taiping Mining Co.,*** selected for on-site blasting test and *** Peak Particle Velocity(PPV)measured at the monitoring point is located on the lower side of the maximum allowable vibration velocity curve that is prepared based on the allowable speed standard evaluation chart in the full frequency domain established by standards practiced in various countries such as German DIN4150,the USBM RI 8507,and Chinese *** indicates that the blasting vibration has less influence on the location of the monitoring *** vibration signals obtained in the blasting test were analyzed using the wavelet packet theory,and it was concluded that the blasting vibration signals measured in the anti-dip layered rock slope were mainly concentrated in two frequency bands of 0-80 Hz and 115-160 *** sum of energy of the two frequency bands accounted for more than 99%,wherein,the energy contained in the 0-80 Hz frequency band accounted for more than 85%of the monitoring *** vibration signal with 0-80 Hz frequency band monitored at the slope toe was selected for the energy attenuation *** results showed that the energy attenuation decreased in radial,vertical,and tangential ***,the Energy Attenuation Rate per Meter(EARPM)was *** conjunction with the site characteristics analysis,it was found that the energy attenuation rate was significantly affected by the rock mass characteristics of the structural *** slope reinforcement project can effectively reduce the absorption

Effect of ATF3-deletion on apoptosis of cultured retinal ganglion cells

AIM：To investigate the effect of activating transcription factor-3（ATF3）-deletion on apoptosis of cultured retinal ganglion cells（RGCs）.METHODS：Three ATF3 siR NA（ATF3-rat-651, ATF3-rat-319, ATF3-rat-520） were constructed, and were transiently transfected into RGC-5 cells. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction（PCR） was used to examine ATF3 expression and the most effective ATF3 siR NA was selected for further studies. Flow cytometry was applied to investigate the effects of ATF3 deletion on RGC-5 apoptosis under elevated hydrostatic pressure. Quantitative realtime PCR and Western blot were performed to validate differentially expressed genes and proteins in ATF3-knockdown RGC-5 ***：ATF3 specific siR NA effectively down-regulated ATF3 expression and significantly inhibited cell apoptosis in RGC-5 cells. Quantitative real-time PCR and Western blot confirmed that ATF3 knockdown remarkably decreased Jun-B and increased c-Jun at both m RNA and protein levels in RGC-5 ***：ATF/cA MP-response element-binding family of transcription factors may be involved in the development of glaucoma and could be novel treatment targets for glaucoma.

Characterization of Zn-doped GaN grown by metal–organic vapor phase epitaxy

The point defects and photoluminescence(PL)spectra of gallium nitride(GaN)epilayers with Mg,Zn,and unintentional doping were investigated in this *** concentration of point defects(Ga vacancy and its related complexes)in the Zn-doped GaN is consistent with that in the Mg-doped GaN,but lower than that in undoped *** is suggested that Zn(Mg)atoms occupy Ga sites and suppress the formation of Ga *** the blue luminescence(BL)band intensity of GaN:Zn with that of GaN:Mg,a factor of 10 strong PL intensity demonstrates that a moderate incorporation of Zn to GaN is likely to improve the structural quality of *** studies on 2.93 eV BL band for GaN:Zn reveal that the Zn related BL band behaves as a donor-acceptor pairs *** the acceptor level,isolated Zn_(Ga)with the activation energy of 0.386 eV above the valence band is obtained from temperature-dependent PL measurements,whereas the deep donor defect responsible for the 2.93 eV band is deduced to be 164 meV below the conduction *** O_(N)-H complex model is suggested to explain the deep donor origin.
