Improving the Short-Range Precipitation Forecast of Numerical Weather Prediction through a Deep Learning-Based Mask Approach

Due to various technical issues,existing numerical weather prediction(NWP)models often perform poorly at forecasting rainfall in the first several *** correct the bias of an NWP model and improve the accuracy of short-range precipitation forecasting,we propose a deep learning-based approach called UNet Mask,which combines NWP forecasts with the output of a convolutional neural network called *** UNet Mask involves training the UNet on historical data from the NWP model and gridded rainfall observations for 6-hour precipitation *** overlap of the UNet output and the NWP forecasts at the same rainfall threshold yields a *** UNet Mask blends the UNet output and the NWP forecasts by taking the maximum between them and passing through the mask,which provides the corrected 6-hour rainfall *** evaluated UNet Mask on a test set and in real-time *** results showed that UNet Mask outperforms the NWP model in 6-hour precipitation prediction by reducing the FAR and improving CSI *** tests also showed that different small rainfall thresholds applied to the UNet and the NWP model have different effects on UNet Mask's forecast *** study shows that UNet Mask is a promising approach for improving rainfall forecasting of NWP models.

Blimp-1 protein and Hans classification on prognosis of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and their interrelation

Background and Objective:Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), the most common type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL), is heterogeneous on molecular and clinical levels, therefore, its prognosis is difficult to *** study aimed to evaluate the value of Blimp-1 protein and Hans classification in predicting the prognosis of DLBCL and their ***:The clinical records of 136 patients with DLBCL were *** patients were followed up for 5-80 months (median, 39 months).Immunohistochemical staining for CD10, MUM1, Bcl-6, and Blimp-1 were performed on paraffin-embedded tumor tissues from the 136 *** correlations of Blimp-1 protein and Hans classification in prognosis of DLBCL and their interrelation were ***:Blimp-1 was detected in 38 (30.0%) patients, and was associated with a significantly shorter overall survival (OS) (P=0.030).Using the Hans classification based upon the expression of CD10, Bcl-6, and MUM1, 54 patients had germinal center B-cell (GCB) phenotype and 82 had non-GCB *** 5-year OS rate was 75% in the GCB group and 52% in the non-GCB group (P=0.020).The positive rate of Blimp-1 was 22.2% in the GCB group and 31.7% in the non-GCB group (P=0.329).The Cox regression multivariate analysis showed that international prognosis index (IPI) and Hans classification had independent prognostic significance, whereas Blimp-1 was not an independent prognostic ***:The patients with GCB subtype of DLBCL had better prognosis than the non-GCB *** level of Blimp-1 expression in the patients with DLBCL implies a shorter survival, but it is not associated with Hans classification.

Tomographic particle image velocimetry measurement on three-dimensional swirling flow in dual-stage counter-rotating swirler

Three-Dimensional(3D)swirling flow structures,generated by a counter-rotating dualstage swirler in a confined chamber with a confinement ratio of 1.53,were experimentally investigated at Re=2.3×10^(5)using Tomographic Particle Image Velocimetry(Tomo-PIV)and planar Particle Image Velocimetry(PIV).Based on the analysis of the 3D time-averaged swirling flow structures and 3D Proper Orthogonal Decomposition(POD)of the Tomo-PIV data,typical coherent flow structures,including the Corner Recirculation Zone(CRZ),Central Recirculation Zone(CTRZ),and lip Recirculation Zone(LRZ),were *** counter-rotating dual-stage swirler with a Venturi flare generates the independence process of vortex breakdown from the main stage and pilot stage,leading to the formation of an LRZ and a smaller CTRZ near the nozzle *** confinement squeezes the CRZ to the corner and causes a reverse rotation flow to limit the shape of the CTRZ.A large-scale flow structure caused by the main stage features an explosive breakup,flapping,and Precessing Vortex Core(PVC).The explosive breakup mode dominates the swirling flow structures owing to the expansion and construction of the main jet,whereas the flapping mode is related to the wake *** limits the expansion of PVC and causes it to contract after the impacting area.

A new integrated model of deformation resistance and its application in prediction of rolling force of a thick plate

The prediction accuracy of existing models of the rolling force of a thick plate is always very *** address this problem,a high-precision genetic algorithm-backpropagation network(GA-BP)model of deformation resistance was built,and its integration with the traditional fitted model was further ***,a novel rolling force model was obtained by embedding the integration model of deformation resistance in the original model of rolling *** to this research idea,the industrial data are normalized at *** this basis,the interactions among the process parameters were disclosed through the variance analysis,and then described by various virtual *** factors are set as part of input ***,the optimal structure of the GA-BP model of deformation resistance was determined and an integration model of deformation resistance was ***,a novel rolling force model is obtained by substituting the traditional fitted deformation resistance into the Sims model with the integration model of the deformation *** results proves that the introduction of virtual factors can increase the hit rate of±5%from 75.8%to 78%and can reduce the root mean square error from 4.72%to 4.48%.Besides,it is found that the mean relative error of the traditional fitted deformation resistance is 0.142,while that of the modified deformation resistance is only *** addition,the mean relative error in the original rolling force model is 0.145,while that of the present model is only 0.03.

Antitumor Effect of Apcin on Endometrial Carcinoma via p21-Mediated Cell Cycle Arrest and Apoptosis

A Hybrid Signal Processing Method Combining Mathematical Morphology and Walsh Theory for Power Quality Disturbance Detection and Classification

In this paper, a novel signal processing method combining mathematical morphology (MM) and Walsh theory is proposed, which uses Walsh functions to control the structuring element (SE) and MM operators. Based on the Walsh-MM method, a scheme for power quality disturbances detection and classification is developed, which involves three steps: denoising, feature extraction and morphological clustering. First, various evolution rules of Walsh function are used to generate groups of SEs for the multiscale Walsh-ordered morphological operation, so the original signal can be denoised. Next, the fundamental wave of the denoised signal is suppressed by Hadamard matrix;thus, disturbances can be extracted. Finally, the Walsh power spectrum of the waveform extracted in the previous step is calculated, and the parameters of which are taken by morphological clustering to classify the disturbances. Simulation results reveal the proposed scheme can effectively detect and classify disturbances, and the Walsh-MM method is less affected by noise and only involves simple calculation, which has a potential to be implemented in hardware and more suitable for real-time application.

Enhancement of low-temperature toughness of Fe-Mn-C-Al alloy by rare earth Ce-modified inclusions
