Retroperitoneal schwannoma mimicking metastatic seminoma: case report and literature review

If a testicular cancer pat ient has a mass in the retroperitoneum, a metastasis is often the first suspicion, probably leading to improper diagnosis and overtreatment. Here we report a case of retroperitoneal schwannoma mimicking metastatic seminoma. A 29-year-old man, who had a history of seminoma, presented with a single retroperitoneal mass suspected to be a metastasis. Because the patient refused radiotherapy, 3 cycles of cisplatin, etoposide, and bleomycin were offered. Post-chemotherapy computed tomography scan revealed persistence of the retroperitoneal mass, with no change in tumor size or characteristics. Subsequently, retroperitoneal lymph node dissection was performed. The dissected tissue contained negative lymph nodes but a single mass in the attached fat. Pathology revealed retroperitoneal schwannoma, which was confirmed by immunohistochemistry. Thus, clinicians should be aware of retroperitoneal schwannoma and its distinction from metastatic seminoma to avoid misdiagnosis and ensure proper treatment.

Objective The present study aims to identify the clinicopathologic factors predictive of lymph node metastasis(LNM) in poorly differentiated early gastric cancer(EGC) and to expand the possibility of using laparoscopic surgery for the treatment of poorly differentiated EGC. Methods data from 70 cases of poorly differentiated EGC treated with surgery were *** association between clinicopathologic factors and the presence of LNM was retrospectively analyzed by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. Results Univariate analysis showed that tumor size,depth of invasion,and lymphatic vessel involvement(LVI) were the significant and independent risk factors for LNM(all P<0.05).The LNM rates were 6.9%,45.5%,and 60.0%,*** was no LNM in 25 patients without the above three risk factors. It is important to make full use of waste generated in the iron and steel manufacturing process for energy saving,emission reduction,low carbon production and a circular *** on research on different kinds of industrial solid wastes from Shougang Jingtang,wastes have been optimized for use in *** first,basic tests for all kinds of solid wastes that may be used in sintering were carried out,including chemical composition,calorific value of a fuel,holding time at high temperatures,the sintering pot test,*** results show that the appropriate solid waste ratios for current sintering conditions are：steel slag〈5%,scale 2.0%,environmental ash 2.0%,and cyclone ash 1.0%;blast furnace dry ash,sintering electric field ash,and steelmaking ash should not be circulated in *** for the fuel structure,both coking ash and nut coke should be below 15%.By optimizing the addition of solid wastes,the damage of harmful elements to sintering and blast furnaces has been significantly reduced,which satisfies the demands for blast furnace materials and earns *** utilization of solid wastes has made a contribution to the circular economy and sustainable development.

Controllable synthesis of well-ordered TiO_2 nanotubes in a mixed organic electrolyte for high-efficiency photocatalysis

Well-ordered TiO 2 nanotube arrays (TNAs) were fabricated by electrochemical anodization in a mixed organic electrolyte consisting of ethylene glycol and glycerol. The morphology, structure, crystalline phase, and photocatalytic properties of TNAs were characterized by using TEM, SEM, XRD and photodegradation of methylene blue. It was found that the morphology and structure of TNAs could be significantly influenced by the anodization time and applied voltage. The obtained tube length was found to be proportional to anodization time, and the calculated growth rate of nanotubes was 0.6 m/h. The microstructure analysis demonstrated that the diameter and thickness of the nanotubes increased with the increase of anodization voltage. The growth mechanism of TNAs was also proposed according to the observed relationship between current density and time during anodization. As expected, the obtained TNAs showed a higher photocatalytic activity than the commercial TiO 2 P25 nanoparticles.

AIM: To study the effect of hydroxyapatite (HAP) nanoparticleson human hepatoma cell line BEL-7402 in ***: The human hepatoma cell line BEL-7402 wascultured and treated with HAP nanoparticles at variousconcentrations. Growth suppression was detected with MTTcolorimetric assay, cell apoptotic alterations were evaluatedby cytochemical staining (Hoechst 33258), transmissionelectron microscopy (TEM), and flow cytometry (FCM).RESULTS: HAP nanoparticles inhibited the growth ofhepatoma cells in a dose-dependent manner, with IC50 valuesof 29.30 mg/L. Treated with 50-200 mg/L HAP nanoparticlesfor 48 h, BEL-7402 cells apoptosis with nuclear chromatincondensation and fragmentation as well as cell shrinkageand the formation of apoptotic bodies were observed undercytochemical staining and transmission electron *** analysis showed hypodiploid peaks on histogram, theapoptotic rates at the concentrations of 50, 75, 100, 150and 200 mg/L of HAP nanoparticles were 20.35±2.23%,25.35±1.92%, 29.34±4.61%, 44.92±3.78 % and53.64±3.49%, respectively, which were all significantlyhigher than that of control group 2.23±0.14%. There wasa significant correlation between HAP nanoparticleconcentration and apoptotic rate (r=0.994, P＜0.01).CONCLUSION: HAP nanoparticles not only inhibitproliferation but also induce apoptosis of human hepatoma cell line BEL-7402 in vitro.

Three fluorescent indocyanines containing p-carboxybenzyl groups on N atoms in the heterocyclic tings were synthesized under supersonic. The maxima wavelength of the absorption and emission of the dyes were 550-800 nm in water. Compared with those in aqueous solutions, the fluorescence intensity of the dyes in the α/β-cyclodextrin, Al^3＋, Zn^2＋, Sn^2＋ or the α/β-cyclodextrin in the aqueous solutions of the cations became stronger. The crystal Shapes of the dyes and their cyclodextrin inclusions were mostly acicular or polygon. The NHS-carboxyl squarylium indocyanine was prepared and used to conjugate with taurine or benzylamine, the results indicated that the dyes could couple covalently to biomass containing free NH2 group. Structure and some thermal parameters of the molecule of the trimethine cyanine were obtained by DFT method of Gaussian O3.
