As a significant index to evaluate the mixing efficiency,studying the concentration distribution is directly related to the intensity of segregation(I_(s)).In this work,the I_(s) of the mixture composed of NaCl solutionwater was investigated experimentally in a rotating bar reactor(RBR)by the conductivity *** results showed that the mixing efficiency was improved along the axial direction from the bottom to the top in the *** concentration distribution at the bottom section was more uneven,and I_(s) was higher compared with the top section,which decreased from 6.53×10^(-5)to 1.57×10^(-7).With the increase of rotational speed from 0 to 700 r·min^(-1),I_s at the bottom and top sections decreased from 4.27×10^(-3)to 7.10×10^(-5)and from 1.93×10^(-3)to 7.29×10^(-7),*** increases flow rate of solution A,and the decreases of concentration of NaCl and flow rate of solution B gave rise to the reduction of I_(s),signifying an improved mixing *** results revealed that the conductivity method used in this paper has high efficiency and low cost to measure the I_(s),which indicates a promising prospect for estimating reactors'mixing performance.

A rotating packed bed(RPB) reactor has substantially potential for the process intensification of heterogeneous catalytic reactions. However, the scarce knowledge of the liquid–solid mass transfer in the RPB reactor is a barrier for its design and scale-up. In this work, the liquid–solid mass transfer in a RPB reactor installed with structured foam packing was experimentally studied using copper dissolution by potassium dichromate. Effects of rotational speed, liquid and gas volumetric flow rate on the liquid–solid mass transfer coefficient(kLS) have been investigated. The correlation for predicting kLSwas proposed, and the deviation between the experimental and predicted values was within±12%. The liquid–solid volumetric mass transfer coefficient(kLSaLS) ranged from 0.04–0.14 1^-1, which was approximately 5 times larger than that in the packed bed reactor. This work lays the foundation for modeling of the RPB reactor packed with structured foam packing for heterogeneous catalytic reaction.

The Grover quantum search algorithm is a landmark quantum computing application, which has a speed advantage over classical algorithms for searching an unsorted database. For an√ unsorted database of N items, the classical algorithm needs to search O(N) times, while the Grover algorithm only needs O(√N) times. However, except for the special case of N = 4, the traditional Grover algorithm always has some probability of failure. To solve this problem, several schemes for deterministically performing quantum search have been proposed, but they all impose additional requirements on the query Oracle and cannot be implemented in many practical scenarios. Recently, Roy et al. [Phys. Rev. Res. 4, L022013(2022)] proposed a new deterministic quantum search scheme with no additional requirements on the query Oracle, which has the potential to perfectly replace the traditional Grover algorithm. In this study, we experimentally implement on a programmable silicon quantum photonic chip four deterministic quantum search algorithms, including the Roy algorithm, all of which obtained an average search success rate of over0.93, exceeding the theoretical maximum of 0.9074 that the traditional Grover algorithm can achieve. Our results demonstrate the feasibility and superiority of the deterministic quantum search algorithms and are expected to facilitate the wider application of these algorithms in future quantum information processing.

Effects of direct ultrasonic treatment on microstructure and elongation of semi-solid Sn-62Bi alloy

A new direct ultrasonic treatment(DUT) setup with the ultrasonic horn placed in the horizontal direction was developed and used in the preparation of semi-solid Sn-62 Bi slurry. The influence of DUT temperature on microstructure and properties of Sn-62 Bi alloy were studied. The test results of XRD showed that the semi-solid Sn-62 Bi alloy obtained by the DUT process exhibits pronounced preferential orientation of Bi(2 0 2), Bi(-1 1 1), Bi(-2 0 1), Sn(1 1 0) and Sn(2 2 0) planes. Compared to the conventional liquid casting Sn-62 Bi alloy without DUT, it was discovered that the primary Bi blocks of semi-solid Sn-62 Bi alloy prepared with the DUT process distribute more homogeneously and are smaller. With the treatment by ultrasonic vibration in the semi-solid state for 120 s, the higher the primary Bi phase fraction in the slurry, the smaller the size of primary semi-solid Bi blocks formed after solidification. The average side length of the primary Bi blocks was from 30 μm to 80 μm. The elongation of Sn-62 Bi alloy treated by DUT for 120 s at 145 °C is 43.21%, reflecting a distinctly improvement by 129.10%, as compared to the conventional liquid casting Sn-62 Bi alloy without DUT. This indicates that DUT process could improve dramatically the ductility of Sn-62 Bi alloys content. The microstructure evolution mechanism of semi-solid Sn-62 Bi alloy slurry was also analyzed.

Interfacial host–guest complexation offers a versatile way to functionalize ***,the complicated interfacial environment and trace amounts of components present at the interface make the study of interfacial complexation very ***,taking the advantages of near-single-molecule level sensitivity and molecular fingerprint of surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy(SERS),we reveal that a cooperative effect between cucurbit[7]uril(CB[7])and methyl viologen(MV^(2+)2^(I−))in aggregating Au NPs originates from the cooperative adsorption of halide counter anions I^(−),MV^(2+),and CB[7]on Au NPs ***,similar SERS peak shifts in the control experiments using CB[n]s but with smaller cavity sizes suggested the occurrence of the same guest complexations among CB[5],CB[6],and CB[7]with MV2+.Hence,an unconventional exclusive complexation model is proposed between CB[7]and MV^(2+)on the surface of Au NPs,distinct from the well-known 1:1 inclusion complexation model in aqueous *** summary,new insights into the fundamental understanding of host–guest interactions at nanostructured interfaces were obtained by SERS,which might be useful for applications related to host–guest chemistry in engineered nanomaterials.

Background： Dendritic cells are professional antigen-presenting cells found in an immature state in epithelia and interstitial space, where they capture antigens such as pathogens or damaged tissue. Matrix metallopeptidase 13 （MMP- 13）, a member of the collagenase subfamily, is involved in many different cellular processes and is expressed in murine bone marrow-derived dendritic cells （DCs）. The function of MMP-13 in DCs is not well understood. Here, we investigated the effect of MMP-13 on DC maturation, apoptosis, and phagocytosis. Methods： Bone marrow-derived dendritic cells were obtained fiom C57BL/6 mice. One short-interfering RNA specific for MMP- 13 was used to transfect DCs. MMP-13-silenced DCs and control DCs were prepared, and apoptosis was measured using real-time polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting. MMP-13-silenced DCs and control DCs were analyzed for surface expression of CD80 and CD86 and phagocytosis capability using flow cytometry. Results： Compared to the control DCs, MMP- 13-silenced DCs increased expression of anti-apoptosis-related genes, BAGl （control group vs. MMP-13-silenced group： 4.08 ± 0.60 vs. 6.11 ± 0.87, P = 0.008）, BCL-2 （control group vs. MMP-13-silenced group： 7.54 ± 0.76 vs. 9.54 ± 1.29, P = 0.036）, and TP73 （control group vs. MMP- 13-silenced group： 4.33 ± 0.29 vs. 5.60 ±0.32, P = 0.001 ） and decreased apoptosis-related genes, CASPI （control group vs. MMP- 13-silenced group： 3.79±0.67 vs. 2.54±0.39, P - 0.019）, LTBR （control group vs. MMP- 13-silenced group： 9.23 ±1.25 vs. 6.24 ± 1.15, P = 0.012）, and CASP4 （control group vs. MMP-13-silenced group： 2.07 ± 0.56 vs. 0.35 ±0.35, P = 0.002）. Protein levels confirmed the same expression pattern. MMP- 13-silenced groups decreased expression of CD86 on DCs; however, there was no statistical difference in CD80 surface expression.
