Probing the Air Storage Failure Mechanism of Ni-Rich Layered Cathode Materials

Ni-rich layered oxide cathode materials,such as LiNi_(0.83)Co_(0.12)Mn_(0.05)O_(2)(NCM811),exhibit high specific capacity and low cost,and become cathode material preference of high-energy-density Li-ion ***,these cathode materials are not stable and will form Li-poor reconstructed layers and alkaline compounds(Li_(2)CO_(3),LiOH)on the surface during the storage and processing in humid air,resulting in serious deterioration of electrochemical *** the past two decades,the consensus on the surface instability mechanism during humid air storage has not been *** main controversy focuses on the unstable octahedron mechanism and the Li/H exchange ***,we investigate the instability mechanism in the humid air by conducting scanning electronic microscopy,scanning transmission electron microscopy,and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis on NCM811 samples stored in designed atmospheres,etc.,and realize that the surface instability of the NCM811 during storage should be mainly originated from Li/H exchange when it contacts with moisture.

The purpose of this study is to explore the associations among dry eye disease(DED),air pollution,and meteorological conditions in the cold region of a northeastern Chinese metropolis(i.e.,Changchun).Data on ambient air pollutants and meteorological parameters as well as diagnosed DED outpatients during 2015–2021 were *** associations between DED and environmental factors were analysed at multiple time scales using various statistical methods(i.e.,correlation,regression and machine learning).Among the 10,809 DED patients(21,617 eyes)studied,64.60%were female and 35.40%were male.A higher frequency of DED was observed in March and April,followed by January,August and *** and multiple factor models showed the positive importance of particles with aerodynamic diameters<10μm(PM10),carbon monoxide(CO),and ozone(O_(3))among normal air pollutants and air pressure(AP),air temperature(AT)and wind speed(WS)among normal meteorological *** pollutants(PM10,nitrogen dioxide:NO_(2))and meteorological parameters(AT,AP)have combined impacts on DED *** the first time,we further explored the associations of detailed components of atmospheric particles and DED,suggesting potential emission sources,including spring dust from bare soil and roads and precursor pollutants of summer O_(3)formation from vehicles and industry in Northeast *** results revealed the quantitative associations among air pollutants,meteorological conditions and DED outpatients in cold regions,highlighting the importance of coordinated policies in air pollution control and climate change mitigation.

The relative permittivity is one of the essential parameters determines the physical polarization behaviors of the nanocomposite dielectrics in many applications,particularly for capacitive energy *** the relative permittivity of particle/polymer nanocomposites from the microstructure is of great ***,the classical effective medium theory and physics-based numerical calculation represented by finite element method are time-consuming and cumbersome for complex structures and nonlinear *** work explores a novel architecture combining the convolutional neural network(ConvNet)and finite element method(FEM)to predict the relative permittivity of nanocomposite dielectrics with incorporated barium titanite(BT)particles in polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF)*** ConvNet was trained and evaluated on big datasets with 14266 training data and 3514 testing data generated form a programmatic *** numerical experiments,we demonstrate that the trained network can efficiently provide an accurate agreement between the ConvNet model and FEM by virtue of the significant evaluation metrics R2,which reaches as high as 0.9783 and 0.9375 on training and testing data,*** strong universality of the presented method allows for an extension to fast and accurately predict other properties of the nanocomposite dielectrics.

Aloin is a small-molecule drug well known for its protective actions in various models of *** brain injury(TBI)-induced cerebral edema from secondary damage caused by disruption of the blood-brain barrier(BBB) often leads to an adverse *** the role of aloin in maintaining the integrity of the BBB after TBI remains unclear,we explored the protective effects of aloin on the BBB using in vivo and in vitro TBI *** male C57 BL/6 mice underwent controlled cortical impact injury,and mouse brain capillary endothelial bEnd.3 cells underwent biaxial stretch injury,then both received aloin *** the animal experiments,we found 20 mg/kg aloin to be the optimum concentration to decrease cerebral edema,decrease disruption of the BBB,and improve neurobehavioral performance after cortical impact *** the cellular studies,the optimum concentration of 40 μg/mL aloin reduced apoptosis and reversed the loss of tight junctions by reducing the reactive oxygen species levels and changes in mitochondrial membrane potential after stretch *** mechanisms may be that aloin downregulates the phosphorylation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase,the activation of p65 nuclear factor-kappa B,and the ratios of B cell lymphoma(Bcl)-2-associated X protein/Bcl-2 and cleaved caspase-3/*** conclude that aloin exhibits these protective effects on the BBB after TBI through its anti-oxidative stress and anti-apoptotic properties in mouse brain capillary endothelial *** may thus be a promising therapeutic drug for TBI.

Current animal models of nerve root compression due to lumbar disc herniation only assess the mechanical compression of nerve roots and the inflammatory response. Moreover, the pressure applied in these models is static, meaning that the nerve root cannot be dynamically compressed. This is very different from the pathogenesis of lumbar disc herniation. In this study, a chitosan/polyacrylamide double-network hydrogel was prepared by a simple two-step method. The swelling ratio of the double-network hydrogel increased with prolonged time, reaching 140. The compressive strength and compressive modulus of the hydrogel reached 53.6 and 0.34 MPa, respectively. Scanning electron microscopy revealed the hydrogel's crosslinked structure with many interconnecting pores. An MTT assay demonstrated that the number of viable cells in contact with the hydrogel extracts did not significantly change relative to the control surface. Thus, the hydrogel had good biocompatibility. Finally, the double-network hydrogel was used to compress the L4 nerve root of male sand rats to simulate lumbar disc herniation nerve root compression. The hydrogel remained in its original position after compression, and swelled with increasing time. Edema appeared around the nerve root and disappeared 3 weeks after operation. This chitosan/polyacrylamide double-network hydrogel has potential as a new implant material for animal models of lumbar nerve root compression. All animal experiments were approved by the Animal Ethics Committee of Neurosurgical Institute of Beijing, Capital Medical University, China(approval No. 201601006) on July 29, 2016.

A correlative multidimensional study ofγ’precipitates with Ta addition in Re-containing Ni-based single crystal superalloys

The microstructural evolution in Re-containing Ni-based single crystal superalloys with different Tantalum(Ta)content(2 Ta,5 Ta and 8 Ta in wt%)was *** addition significantly affected theγ’precipitate morphology,γ/γ’lattice misfit and microstructural stability during long-term *** showed that the partitioning behaviors of solutes were enhanced by Ta addition,meanwhile,the reversal partitioning behavior of W was triggered which partitioned fromγ’precipitate to *** elemental concentration redistribution caused variations in lattice misfit from positive to negative,the values of lattice misfit were measured to be 0.16%for 2 Ta alloy,then decreased to-0.07%for 5 Ta alloy and negatively increased to-0.23%for 8 Ta *** variations in the lattice misfit were reflected on the transition ofγ’morphology from round-cornered cuboidal shape to cuboidal with sharp corners,accomplished with increasing shape parameter ratioη.Consequently,the optimalγ’shape could be obtained at lattice misfit of approximately 0.3%.Theγ’coarsening investigation at 900℃(up to 2000 h)indicated that Ta addition was beneficial for improving the microstructural stability by reducing the coarsening rate and interfacial energy,accompanied by the enhanced capability of resistingγ’*** incorporating the calculated interfacial energy,computational modeling,Thermo-Calc and PrecipiCalc,were employed to elucidate theγ’kinetic pathways,the simulation results agreed with experiments,indicating that the model and parameters were ***,it was found that there was no overlap betweenγ’nucleation and coarsening when theγ/γ’interfacial energy increased to a critical value.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries are regarded as the promising candidates for large-scale energy storage systems owing to low cost and high safety;however,their applications are restricted by their poor low-temperature ***,a low-temperature electrolyte for low-temperature aqueous zinc-ion batteries is designed by introducing low-polarity diglyme into an aqueous solution of Zn(ClO_(4))_(2).The diglyme disrupts the hydrogenbonding network of water and lowers the freezing point of the electrolyte to-105℃.The designed electrolyte achieves ionic conductivity up to16.18 mS cm^(-1)at-45℃.The diglyme and ClO_(4)^(-)reconfigure the solvated structure of Zn^(2+),which is more favorable for the desolvation of Zn^(2+)at low *** addition,the diglyme effectively suppresses the dendrites,hydrogen evolution reaction,and by-products of the zinc anode,improving the cycle stability of the ***-20℃,a Zn‖Zn symmetrical cell is cycled for 5200 h at 1 mA cm^(-2)and 1 mA h cm^(-2),and a Zn‖polyaniline battery achieves an ultra-long cycle life of 10000 *** study sheds light on the future design of electrolytes with high ionic conductivity and easy desolvation at low temperatures for rechargeable batteries.
