BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer is a common malignant tumor in China,and its incidence in the elderly is increasing *** bowel disease is a group of chronic non-specific intestinal inflammatory diseases,including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s *** included the clinicopathological and follow-up data of patients with colorectal cancer who underwent laparoscopic colectomy or open colectomy at our Gastrointestinal Department between January 2019 and December *** indicators,oncological indicators,and survival rates were compared between the *** results of 104 patients who met the above criteria were extracted from the database(laparoscopic colectomy group=63,open colectomy group=41),and there were no statistically significant differences in the baseline data or follow-up time between the two *** Intraoperative blood loss,time to first ambulation,and time to first fluid intake were significantly lower in the laparoscopic colectomy group than in the open colectomy *** differences in overall mortality,tumor-related mortality,and recurrence rates between the two groups were not statistically significant,and survival analysis showed that the differences in the cumulative overall survival,tumor-related survival,and cumulative recurrence-free rates between the two groups were not statistically *** In elderly patients with colorectal cancer,laparoscopic colectomy has better short-term outcomes than open colectomy,and laparoscopic colectomy has superior long-term survival outcomes compared with open colectomy.

Solar vapor generation is a promising sustainable technology that uses solar distillation to produce fresh water from seawater and wastewater,helping relieve global water resource ***,inspired by naturally grown integrally molded mulberry leaves with a Janus hydrophilic and hydrophobic structure,a novel,simple,and efficient integrated molding method is proposed to break through the limitations of the traditional split manufacturing strategy and realizes the integrated formation of Janus *** on the spontaneous sedimentation characteristics of MXene in silk fibroin solution and its regulation of mesoscopic structure and hydrophilicity of silk fibroin,layered structures with different compositions and hydrophilicities were obtained in one ***,ethanol and glutaraldehyde were added to construct a physical crystallization-chemical crosslinking dual stabilization structure in silk *** evaporator has the evaporation rate of 3.07 kg·m^(-2)·h^(-1) and the efficiency of 86.8%under 1 sun and maintains high evaporation performance under various extreme test conditions including vigorous washing,repeated compression,and high-intensity ultraviolet(UV)***,the evaporator performs well in practical application scenarios,its evaporation rate in the simulated Dead Sea seawater exceeds 2.13 kg·m^(-2)·h^(-1),and more than 99.9%of the salt,heavy metal ions,oil pollution,and dyes are purified.

Dear Editor,The choice of surgical intervention for nanophthalmos patients with secondary angle-closure glaucoma poses a challenging decision for *** nanophthalmos patients who have undergone filtration surgery or other intraocular procedures are more susceptible to severe complications,including choroidal effusion,malignant glaucoma,and explosive choroidal hemorrhage,all of which can lead to vision loss[1].This dilemma is particularly pronounced in patients with shorter axial *** transscleral laser therapy(M-TLT),also known as micropulse transscleral cyclophotocoagulation(MP-TSCPC),is a nonincisional laser therapy surgery for glaucoma[2].In 2015,Golan and Kurtz[3]were the first to report four patients with secondary angle-closure glaucoma in nanophthalmos with axial lengths ranging between 17 and 19 mm(mean 18 mm)who were successfully treated with M-TLT,and choroidal detachment was observed in all patients(recovery spontaneously in two patients and recovery after systemic steroid treatment in the other two),of which two had a slight decrease in visual acuity.

Broadband photodetectors with self-driven functions have attracted intensive scientific interest due to their low energy consumption and high optical ***,high-performance broadband self-driven photodetectors are still a significant challenge due to the complex fabrication processes,environmental toxicity,high production costs of traditional 3D semiconductor materials and sharply raised contact resistance,severe interfacial recombination of 2D materials and 2D/3D mixed dimension ***,1D p-Te/2D n-Bi_(2)Te_(3) heterojunctions are constructed by the simple and low-cost hydrothermal method.1D p-Te/2D n-Bi_(2)Te_(3) devices are applied in photoelectrochemical(PEC)photodetectors,with their high performance attributed to the good interfacial contacts reducing interface *** device demonstrated a broad wavelength range(365–850 nm)with an Iph/Idark as high as *** R_(i),D^(*),and external quantum efficiency(EQE)values of the device were as high as 12.07 mA/W,5.87×10^(10) Jones,and 41.05%,respectively,which were significantly better than the performance of the prepared Bi_(2)Te_(3) and Te devices.A comparison of the freshly fabricated device and the device after 30 days showed that 1D p-Te/2D n-Bi_(2)Te_(3) had excellent stability with only 18.08%decay of *** is anticipated that this work will provide new emerging material for future design and preparation of a high-performance self-driven broadband photodetector.

Learning Sequential and Structural Dependencies Between Nucleotides for RNA N6-Methyladenosine Site Identification

N6-methyladenosine(m6A) is an important RNA methylation modification involved in regulating diverse biological processes across multiple species. Hence, the identification of m6A modification sites provides valuable insight into the biological mechanisms of complex diseases at the post-transcriptional *** a variety of identification algorithms have been proposed recently, most of them capture the features of m6A modification sites by focusing on the sequential dependencies of nucleotides at different positions in RNA sequences, while ignoring the structural dependencies of nucleotides in their threedimensional structures. To overcome this issue, we propose a cross-species end-to-end deep learning model, namely CR-NSSD,which conduct a cross-domain representation learning process integrating nucleotide structural and sequential dependencies for RNA m6A site identification. Specifically, CR-NSSD first obtains the pre-coded representations of RNA sequences by incorporating the position information into single-nucleotide states with chaos game representation theory. It then constructs a crossdomain reconstruction encoder to learn the sequential and structural dependencies between nucleotides. By minimizing the reconstruction and binary cross-entropy losses, CR-NSSD is trained to complete the task of m6A site identification. Extensive experiments have demonstrated the promising performance of CR-NSSD by comparing it with several state-of-the-art m6A identification algorithms. Moreover, the results of cross-species prediction indicate that the integration of sequential and structural dependencies allows CR-NSSD to capture general features of m6A modification sites among different species, thus improving the accuracy of cross-species identification.

A second rain belt sometimes occurs ahead of a frontal rain belt in the warm sector over coastal South China,leading to heavy *** examined the differences in the mesoscale characteristics and microphysics of the frontal and warm sector rain belts that occurred in South China on May 10–13,*** southern rain belt occurred in an environment with favorable mesoscale conditions but weak large-scale *** contrast,the northern rain belt was related to low-level horizontal shear and the surface-level *** interaction between the enhanced southeasterly winds and the rainfall-induced cold pool promoted the persistent growth of convection along the southern rain *** convective cell propagated east over the coastal area,where there was a large temperature *** bow-shaped echo in this region may be closely related to the rear-inflow *** contrast,the initial convection of the northern rain belt was triggered along the front and the region of low-level horizontal shear,with mesoscale interactions between the enhanced warm-moist southeasterly airflow and the cold dome associated with the earlier *** terrain blocked the movement of the cold pool,resulting in the stagnation of the frontal convective cell at an early ***,a meso-γ-scale vortex formed during the rapid movement of the convective cell,corresponding to an enhancement of *** representative raindrop spectra for the southern rain belt were characterized by a greater number and higher density of raindrops than the northern rain belt,even though both resulted in comparable hourly *** results help us better understand the characteristics of double rain belts over South China.
