Symptoms Burden and Health-related Quality of Life in Chinese Patients with Primary Biliary Cholangitis

Background and Aims:Primary biliary cholangitis(PBC)is a chronic liver disease that negatively affects the health-related quality of life(HRQoL)of ***,the HRQoL of Chinese patients has been neglected for a long *** present study aimed to assess the HRQoL of Chinese patients with PBC and explore the clinical variables correlating to the improvement of itch and ***:This was an observational,cross-sectional *** PBC-40 and itch numerical rating scales were used to evaluate the symptoms and HRQoL of ***:A total of 383 patients were recruited,and 86.4%were female,with a median age of 55 years(range:49-63 years).We found that females had significantly higher scores than males in symptoms(p=0.033)and cognitive domains(p=0.021),and the fatigue domain was higher in elderly patients(p=0.007).Meanwhile,patients whose body mass index was<18.5 had the highest scores in the symptoms(p=0.009),fatigue(p=0.010),and cognitive(p=0.019)*** at participation(odds ratio[OR]=1.068,p=0.015)and albumin level at 12 months after ursodeoxycholic acid treatment(OR=208.807,p=0.025)were independent factors that affected the improvement of the itch and fatigue domains,***:The HRQoL of Chinese patients with PBC was significantly impaired depending on sex,age,and body mass *** and albumin level were significantly associated with the improvement of itch and fatigue,***,treatment and support aimed at these two factors can be provided to improve the HRQoL of patients.

High-resolution liquid chromatography separation is essential to in-depth proteomic profiling of complex biological ***,we established an ion-pair reversed-phase×reversed-phase two-dimensional liquid chromatography(IPRP×RP 2DLC)strategy for comprehensive proteomic *** RPLC separation dimensions were performed at low pH,with trifluoroacetic acid(TFA)and formic acid(FA)as mobile phase addictive,*** the good separation resolution offered by ion-pairing effect of TFA,the fractionation efficiency was greatly improved with 74.0%peptides identified in just one *** with conventional high pH RP fractionation,the overall separation rate of IPRP was about 1.6 times that of high-pH RP,which increased the number of identified peptides by 21%.Further,2169 proteins and 8540 peptides were confidently identified from crude serum sample by our IPRP×RP 2DLC strategy,exhibiting great potential in clinical proteomics in the future.

In anode free batteries(AFBs), the current collector acts as anode simultaneously and has large volume expansion which is generally considered as a negative effect decreasing the structural stability of a battery. Moreover, despite many studies on the fast lithium diffusion in the current collector materials of AFB such as copper and aluminum, the involved Li diffusion mechanism in these materials remains poorly understood. Through first-principles calculation and stress-assisted diffusion equations, here we study the Li diffusion mechanism in several current collectors and related alloys and clarify the effect of volume expansion on Li diffusion respectively. It is suggested that due to the lower Li migration barriers in aluminum and tin, they should be more suitable to be used as AFB anodes, compared to copper, silver, and lead. The Li diffusion facilitation in copper with a certain number of vacancies is proposed to explain why the use of copper with a thickness≤100 nm as the protective coating on the anode improves the lifetime of the batteries. We show that the volume expansion has a positive effect on Li diffusion via mechanical–electrochemical coupling. Namely, the volume expansion caused by Li diffusion will further induce stress which in turn affects the diffusion. These findings not only provide in-depth insight into the operating principle of AFBs, but also open a new route toward design of improved anode through utilizing the positive effect of mechanical–electrochemical coupling.

Semi-artificial photosynthesis interfacing catalytic protein machinery with synthetic photocatalysts exhibits great potential in solar-to-chemical energy conversion. However, characterizing and manipulating the molecular integration structure at the biotic-abiotic interface remain a challenging task. Herein,the biointerface molecular integration details of photosystem II(PSII)-semiconductor hybrids, including the PSII orientation, interfacial microdomains, and overall structure modulation, are systematically interrogated by lysine reactivity profiling mass spectrometry. We demonstrate the semiconductor surface biocompatibility is essential to the PSII self-assembly with uniform orientation and electroactive *** directional localization of PSII onto more hydrophilic Ru/Sr Ti O_(3):Rh surface exhibits less disturbance on PSII structure and electron transfer chain, beneficial to the high water splitting ***, rational modification of hydrophobic Ru_(2)S_(3)/Cd S surface with biocompatible protamine can improve the hybrid O_(2)-evolving activity 83.3%. Our results provide the mechanistic understanding to the structure–activity relationship of PSII-semiconductor hybrids and contribute to their rational design in the future.

Global warming caused by excess carbon dioxide(CO_(2))emission has been a focus of the *** development of neutral carbon technologies becomes a strategic choice for the sustainable human *** CO_(2) capture and conversion(iCCC)technology can simultaneously convert the captured CO_(2) from flue gas into value-added chemicals,which saves great energies and expenses incurred in CO_(2) compression and transportation processes of conventional carbon capture,utilization,and storage(CCUS)*** present review criti-cally discusses the dual-function materials(DFMs)and the iCCC technology at intermediate temperature for methane production and high temperature for syngas *** design of reactor and optimization of operation conditions are emphasized from the perspective of industrial *** dual-fixed-bed reactors mode by switching the flue gas and reactant gases,and the dual-fluidized-bed reactors mode by the circulation of DFMs particles are comparatively *** hope this review can stimulate further studies including designing and fabricating feasible DFMs,exploring realistic catalytic process for CO_(2) conversion to high value-added chemicals,developing workable reactor modes and optimizing operation conditions,and establishing industrial demonstration for real applications of iCCC technology in the future.
