Macro-and micro-mechanical response and damage mechanism of sandstone under high-temperature conditions

The thermal effects of coal combustion considerably influence the physical and chemical properties,structural characteristics, and stability of rocks, posing a serious threat to the safety of coal mining operations. In this study, the impacts of temperature on the physical and chemical characteristics(i.e., mineral phase, microstructure, and mechanical strength) of sandstone were investigated by employing experimental methods, including microstructural analysis, uniaxial acoustic emission(AE), and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR). The results indicate that temperature alters the mineral phase and the pore characteristics, and these two factors jointly affect the mechanical properties of sandstone. The influence of temperature on the mechanical strength of sandstone is categorized into low-temperature strengthening and high-temperature damage, with a threshold temperature identified at 600 ℃. The lowtemperature strengthening effect encompasses both pore strengthening and mineral phase strengthening, while the high-temperature damage effect primarily results from pore damage. As the experimental temperature rises, both the number of AE events and the AE energy transition from a surge in the postpeak failure stage to a stepwise increase during the loading process. This transition implies that the failure mode of the sandstone sample evolves from brittle failure to tensile failure.

Strong Current-State Opacity Verification of Discrete-Event Systems Modeled With Time Labeled Petri Nets

This paper addresses the verification of strong currentstate opacity with respect to real-time observations generated from a discrete-event system that is modeled with time labeled Petri nets. The standard current-state opacity cannot completely characterize higher-level security. To ensure the higher-level security requirements of a time-dependent system, we propose a strong version of opacity known as strong current-state opacity. For any path(state-event sequence with time information)π derived from a real-time observation that ends at a secret state, the strong current-state opacity of the real-time observation signifies that there is a non-secret path with the same real-time observation as π. We propose general and non-secret state class graphs, which characterize the general and non-secret states of time-dependent systems, respectively. To capture the observable behavior of non-secret states, a non-secret observer is ***, we develop a structure called a real-time concurrent verifier to verify the strong current-state opacity of time labeled Petri nets. This approach is efficient since the real-time concurrent verifier can be constructed by solving a certain number of linear programming problems.

Carbon dots (CDs),due to their low cost,high stability,and high luminous efficiency,have emerged as an excellent material for the emissive layer in next-generation electroluminescent light-emitting diodes(ELEDs).However,improving the efficiency of fluorescent CDs-based ELEDs remains challenging,primarily because it is difficult to utilize triplet excitons in the electroluminescence ***,enhancing the exciton utilization efficiency of CDs during electroluminescence is *** on this,we exploited the characteristic large exciton binding energy commonly found in CDs to develop exciton-emitting *** CDs facilitate the radiative recombination of excitons during electroluminescence,thereby improving the electroluminescent *** rationally selecting precursors,we developed high quantum efficiency CDs and subsequently constructed CDs-based *** blue-light device exhibited an external quantum efficiency of over 4%.This study introduces a novel design concept for CDs,providing a new strategy for developing high-performance blue ELEDs based on CDs.

The core-mantle differentiation process plays a pivotal role in redistributing material on a massive scale,shaping the long-term evolution of rocky *** this process is crucial for gaining insights into the accretion and evolution of planets like ***,the details of Mars’s core-mantle differentiation remain poorly understood due to limited compositional data for its core and *** this study,we aim to constrain the Martian core-mantle differentiation by examining FeO partitioning between core and mantle materials,incorporating improved Martian compositional data from the InSight *** ab initio thermodynamic techniques,we calculated the FeO partition coefficient between liquid iron and silicate *** results align with previous studies while also clarifying the factors affecting partitioning *** on these findings and estimates of oxygen concentration in the core,we infer that Mars’s core and mantle likely differentiated at temperatures above 2440 K and pressures ranging from 14 to 22 *** these estimates are higher than previously reported,they are consistent with observed abundances of moderately siderophile elements and Mars’s accretion models.

四川盆地中部下二叠茅口组白云岩储层物性差、厚度薄、埋藏深且空间各向异性较强,给地震资料处理和储层预测造成困难。为明确研究区茅口组地层下一步勘探方向,以中、深层缝洞型碳酸盐岩处理成像和非均质性缝洞型储层量化描述为导向,探索并形成了多敏感曲线融合、井控高保真宽频处理、岩溶古地貌刻画、地震相带预测以及相控储层反演预测等多种关键技术。在地震资料处理方面,以提升地震资料对构造、断裂、薄储层的宽频成像精度为核心,在地震资料解释方面,以精细描述白云岩储层主要参数为目标,结合“先岩溶后储层”的评价思路,对川中地区茅口组白云岩储层进行精细解释评价,共预测了2个白云岩储层发育带,预测结果与新钻井结果吻合度较高,为下一步川中地区油气勘探开发以及井位部署提供了有力支撑。

Alzheimer’s disease is a prominent chronic neurodegenerative condition characterized by a gradual decline in memory leading to *** evidence suggests that Alzheimer’s disease is associated with accumulating various amyloid-βoligomers in the brain,influenced by complex genetic and environmental *** memory and cognitive deficits observed during the prodromal and mild cognitive impairment phases of Alzheimer’s disease are believed to primarily result from synaptic *** life,environmental factors can lead to enduring changes in gene expression and the emergence of brain *** changes,known as epigenetic modifications,also play a crucial role in regulating the formation of synapses and their adaptability in response to neuronal *** this context,we highlight recent advances in understanding the roles played by key components of the epigenetic machinery,specifically DNA methylation,histone modification,and microRNAs,in the development of Alzheimer’s disease,synaptic function,and activity-dependent synaptic ***,we explore various strategies,including enriched environments,exposure to non-invasive brain stimulation,and the use of pharmacological agents,aimed at improving synaptic function and enhancing long-term potentiation,a process integral to epigenetic ***,we deliberate on the development of effective epigenetic agents and safe therapeutic approaches for managing Alzheimer’s *** suggest that addressing Alzheimer’s disease may require distinct tailored epigenetic drugs targeting different disease stages or pathways rather than relying on a single drug.

Stroke is classified as ischemic or hemorrhagic,and there are few effective treatments for either *** mechanisms play a critical role in secondary brain injury following a stroke,which manifests as cytokine release,blood–brain barrier disruption,neuronal cell death,and ultimately behavioral *** the inflammatory response has been shown to mitigate this cascade of events in experimental stroke ***,in clinical trials of anti-inflammatory agents,longterm immunosuppression has not demonstrated significant clinical benefits for *** may be attributable to the dichotomous roles of inflammation in both tissue injury and repair,as well as the complex pathophysiologic inflammatory processes in *** acute harmful inflammatory responses or inducing a phenotypic shift from a pro-inflammatory to an anti-inflammatory state at specific time points after a stroke are alternative and promising therapeutic *** agents that can modulate inflammation requires a detailed understanding of the inflammatory processes of ***,epigenetic reprogramming plays a crucial role in modulating post-stroke inflammation and can potentially be exploited for stroke *** this review,we summarize current findings on the epigenetic regulation of the inflammatory response in stroke,focusing on key signaling pathways including nuclear factor-kappa B,Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription,and mitogen-activated protein kinase as well as inflammasome *** also discuss promising molecular targets for stroke *** evidence to date indicates that therapeutic targeting of the epigenetic regulation of inflammation can shift the balance from inflammation-induced tissue injury to repair following stroke,leading to improved post-stroke outcomes.

Factor-adjusted tests for generalized linear models with multimodal data:An application to breast cancer data

With the advancement of modern scientific research,multimodal data is increasingly being collected from multiple sources or *** outcomes derived from generalized linear models with high-dimensional and multimodal covariates,we develop two distinct factor-adjusted tests to assess the significance of high-dimensional modality data and specific low-dimensional linear combinations of predictors from one or more modalities,***,we propose a factor-adjusted decorrelated score test to evaluate the significance of a single *** approach simultaneously transforms a high-dimensional test into a fixed low-dimensional one while addressing the impact of high-dimensional nuisance ***,we construct a factor-adjusted Wald test based on partial penalized estimation to assess the significance of certain low-dimensional combinations of variables from one or more *** limiting distributions of these two proposed tests are analyzed under both the null hypothesis and local alternatives to characterize the asymptotic type-I errors and *** finite sample performance of our proposed tests is evaluated through simulations and further demonstrated with a breast cancer dataset.

Preparation of silver nanoparticles through the reduction of straw-extracted lignin and its antibacterial hydrogel

Silver nanoparticles(Ag NPs)have attracted attention in the field of biomaterials due to their excellent antibacterial ***,the reducing and stabilizing agents used for the chemical reduction of Ag NPs are usually toxic and may cause water *** this work,Ag NPs(31.2 nm in diameter)were prepared using the extract of straw,an agricultural waste,as the reducing and stabilizing *** analysis revealed that the straw extract contained lignin,the structure of which possesses phenolic hydroxyl and methoxy groups that facilitate the reduction of silver salts into Ag *** surfaces of Ag NPs were negatively charged due to the encapsulation of a thin layer of lignin molecules that prevented their *** the prepared Ag NPs were added to the precursor solution of acrylamide,free radical polymerization was triggered without the need for extra heating or light irradiation,resulting in the rapid formation of an Ag NP-polyacrylamide composite *** inhibition zone test proved that the composite hydrogel possessed excellent antibacterial ability due to the presence of Ag *** prepared hydrogel may have potential applications in the fabrication of biomedical materials,such as antibacterial dressings.
