Diabetic osteoporosis(DOP)is a significant complication that poses continuous threat to the bone health of patients with diabetes;however,currently,there are no effective treatment strategies.In patients with diabetes,the increased levels of ferroptosis affect the osteogenic commitment and differentiation of bone mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs),leading to significant skeletal changes.To address this issue,we aimed to target ferroptosis and propose a novel therapeutic approach for the treatment of DOP.We synthesized ferroptosis-suppressing nanoparticles,which could deliver curcumin,a natural compound,to the bone marrow using tetrahedral framework nucleic acid(tFNA).This delivery system demonstrated excellent curcumin bioavailability and stability,as well as synergistic properties with tFNA.Both in vitro and in vivo experiments revealed that nanoparticles could enhance mitochondrial function by activating the nuclear factor E2-related factor 2(NRF2)/glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4)pathway,inhibiting ferroptosis,promoting the osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs in the diabetic microenvironment,reducing trabecular loss,and increasing bone formation.These findings suggest that curcumin-containing DNA tetrahedron-based ferroptosissuppressing nanoparticles have a promising potential for the treatment of DOP and other ferroptosis-related diseases.

Extracellular vesicles(EVs)are nano-size vesicles secreted naturally by all cells into the extracellular space and have been recognized as important cell-cell mediators in multicel-lular organisms.EVs contain nucleic acids,proteins,lipids,and other cellular components,regulating many basic biological processes and playing an important role in regenerative med-icine and diseases.EVs can be traced to their cells of origin and exhibit a similar function.Moreover,EVs demonstrate low immunogenicity,good biocompatibility,and fewer side ef-fects,compared to their parent cells.Mesenchymal stem cells(MsCs)are one of the most important resource cells for EVs,with a great capacity for self-renewal and multipotent differ-entiation,and play an essential role in stem cell therapy.The mechanism of MsC therapy was thought to be attributed to the differentiation of MsCs after targeted migration,as previously noted.However,emerging evidence shows the previously unknown role of MsC-derived para-crine factors in stem cell therapy.Especially EVs derived from oral tissue MSCs(OMSC-EVs),show more advantages than those of all other MsCs in tissue repair and regeneration,due to their lower invasiveness and easier accessibility for sample collection.Here,we systematically review the biogenesis and biological characteristics of OMSC-EVs,as well as the role of OMsC-EVs in intercellular communication.Furthermore,we discuss the potential therapeutic roles of OMSC-EVs in oral and systemic diseases.We highlight the current challenges and future directions of OMSC-EVs to focus more attention on clinical translation.We aim to provide valuable insights for the explorative clinical application of OMSC-EVs.

The nature of electron density enhancement over a wide altitude range during ionosphere heating experiments at EISCAT

During the course of ionospheric heating experiments, researchers at the European Incoherent Scatter Scientific Association (EISCAT) observed an apparent electron density enhancement. The enhancement extended over a wide range of altitudes, above the reflection altitude of the high-frequency pump wave. However, whether this enhancement actually corresponds to a true enhancement in electron density remains an open question. When the dispersion relation of ion acoustic waves is followed, the frequency ratio of the enhanced ion line to the background ion line suggests that the profile of the effective ion mass may have remained unchanged. Furthermore, the solar radio flux and ion drift velocity indicate no significant changes in the ion species and their densities. In conclusion, the electron density enhancement observed at EISCAT should not, in fact, be considered a true enhancement.

The responses of ecosystem nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) to drought are an important component of globalchange studies. However, previous studies were more often based on site-specific experiments, introducing a significantuncertainty to synthesis and site comparisons. We investigated the responses of vegetation and soil nutrientsto drought using a network experiment of temperate grasslands in Northern China. Drought treatment (66%reduction in growing season precipitation) was imposed by erecting rainout shelters, respectively, at the driest,intermediate, and wettest sites. We found that vegetation nutrient concentrations increased but soil nutrient concentrationsdecreased along the aridity gradient. Differential responses were observed under experimentaldrought among the three grassland sites. Specifically, the experimental drought did not change vegetation andsoil nutrient status at the driest site, while strongly reduced vegetation but increased soil nutrient concentrationsat the site with intermediate precipitation. On the contrary, experimental drought increased vegetation N concentrationsbut did not change vegetation P and soil nutrient concentrations at the wettest site. In general, the differentialeffects of drought on ecosystem nutrients were observed between manipulative and observationalexperiments as well as between sites. Our research findings suggest that conducting large-scale, consistent, andcontrolled network experiments is essential to accurately evaluate the effects of global climate change on terrestrialecosystem bio-geochemistry.

铸牢中华民族共同体意识,需要从各民族的交往交流交融历史实践中去认知和理解共同拥有的文化认同基础,进而才能引导新时代民族工作主线的具体实践。本文聚焦于贵州榕江县郎洞镇的宰牙四寨小区域社会,梳理自清代雍正年间国家“开辟”建制治理下,重构了村寨人群地理空间,使之步入苗、侗、汉等多民族共居互动的社会结构过程。在几百年的历史发展中,一方面是各民族面临相同的自然与社会生境,形成了共同的社会诉求和生活方式,一些被认为对共同生活与社会秩序稳定有保障的族性社会文化规则,被接纳重构为地缘性规则;另一方面是国家制度、文化理念、通用文字及现代民族平等政策等先后植入,与地方社会文化传统互动,生成新的整合机制,进一步强化了超越单一民族的小区域共同体凝聚。该个案的意义在于透析出具有共同性的“文化中国”是由若干类似超越族性的小区域共同体及其文化共遵共享连缀而成的。

Dear Editor,Tungsten-based photochromic materials are well known,suchastungsten-phosphateglasses,tungsten-telluriteglasses,andtungsten-borateglasses'.Photoluminescence glasses exhibit a wide range of application in the fields of display,lighting,laser and optical thermometry,et al.Combination of photochromic and luminescence can extend the application of luminescence materials2-7.Our focus is not on the development of new photochromic materials,but on the control of luminescence through photochromic reaction,especially achieved the real complex threedimensional patterns using laser directly writing technology in photo-modulated transparent glass.In our work2,the three-dimensional optical data storage and information encryption application of photochromic glass with luminescence was obtained.

Transparent glass has been identified as a vital medium for three-dimensional(3D)optical information storage and multi-level encryption.However,it has remained a challenge for directly writing 3D patterning inside a transparent glass using semiconductor blue laser instead of high-cost femtosecond laser.Here,we demonstrate that rare earth ions doped transparent glass can be used as 3D optical information storage and data encryption medium based on their reversible transmittance and photoluminescence manipulation.The color of tungsten phosphate glass doped with rare earth ions change reversibly from light yellow to blue upon alternating 473 nm laser illumination and temperature stimulation,resulting in the reversible luminescence modulation.The information data could be repeatedly written and erased in arbitrary 3D space of transparent glass,not only showing the ability of the excellent reproducibility and storage capacity,but also opening opportunities in information security.The present work expands the application fields of luminescent glass,and it is conducive to develop a novel 3D data storage and information encryption media.

Preparation and upconversion luminescence modification of YbPO4:Er3+inverse opal heterostructure

Photonic crystal heterostructures composed of YbPO4：Er^（3＋） inverse opal and polystyrene opal were prepared via a template-assisted process, which exhibited two photonic band gaps. The microstructure,phase and optical properties of photonic crystal heterostructures were investigated by x-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence lifetime,etc. The upconversion emission suppression caused by single photonic band gap from the following YbPO4：Er^（3＋） inverse opal or the upper opal was observed. The upconversion luminescence was strongly suppressed due to the two photonic band gap overlapping effect caused by the following YbPO4：Er^（3＋） inverse opal or the upper opal. The modified mechanisms of upconversion luminescence were discussed by the upconversion luminescence lifetime of YbPO4：Er^（3＋） photonic crystal heterostructures. The results demonstrated the modified upconversion luminescence is attributed to the photon trapping caused by Bragg reflection of photonic crystal heterostructures.

高速铁路夜间开行的动卧列车会与综合维修天窗在时间和空间上产生冲突。协调行车和天窗对线路通过能力的占用,能够优化铁路运力资源配置,提升列车服务质量和天窗作业效率。对动卧列车等线开行模式与分段矩形天窗的配合进行研究。考虑到车站夜间例行安排的维修施工,将天窗单元分类为“车站天窗”与“区间天窗”,二者组合构成维修调度命令中的天窗分段。采用整数规划方法构建动卧开行日列车运行图和维修天窗协调优化模型,最小化相邻天窗错位时间和列车总旅行时间,以减少天窗分段数量,更利于调度命令传达,作业灵活且安全地实施,同时保证动卧列车开行质量。运用图着色问题推论添加车站到发线能力约束以满足列车可用到发线数量的限制。代入京广高铁动卧列车案例,使用Gurobi实现求解。综合优化的运行图上,车站天窗和区间天窗构成11个天窗分段,比实际少13个,各维修工区管辖区段内的天窗计划更加简化;7对动卧列车的车站到发、区间运行均不与车站天窗、区间天窗冲突;列车的总旅行时间减少了173 min,列车停站次数由82次减少到66次。多组案例讨论了车站天窗、天窗错位、到发线数量等因素对列车等线位置和时间的影响。研究结果为进一步优化高铁动卧列车运输组织和维修天窗开设提供参考建议。
