The arachidonic acid(AA)pathway plays a key role in cardiovascular biology,carcinogenesis,and many inflammatory diseases,such as asthma,arthritis,*** AA on the inner surface of the cell membrane is hydrolyzed to its free form by phospholipase A2 (PLA2),which is in turn further metabolized by cyclooxygenases(COXs)and lipoxygenases(LOXs)and cytochrome P450(CYP)enzymes to a spectrum of bioactive mediators that includes prostanoids,leukotrienes(LTs),epoxyeicosatrienoic acids(EETs),dihydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid(diHETEs),eicosatetraenoic acids(ETEs),and lipoxins(LXs).Many of the latter mediators are considered to be novel preventive and therapeutic targets for cardiovascular diseases(CVD),cancers,and inflammatory *** review sets out to summarize the physiological and pathophysiological importance of the AA metabolizing pathways and outline the molecular mechanisms underlying the actions of AA related to its three main metabolic pathways in CVD and *** will provide valuable insight for developing new therapeutic drugs for CVD and anti-cancer agents such as inhibitors of EETs or ***,we herein present a synopsis of AA metabolism in human health,cardiovascular and cancer biology,and the signaling pathways involved in these *** explore the role of the AA metabolism and potential therapies,we also introduce the current newly clinical studies targeting AA metabolisms in the different disease conditions.

The role of local field potential coupling in epileptic synchronization

This review hopes to clearly explain the following viewpoints：（1） Neuronal synchronization underlies brain functioning, and it seems possible that blocking excessive synchronization in an epileptic neural network could reduce or even control seizures. （2） Local field potential coupling is a very common phenomenon during synchronization in networks. Removal of neurons or neuronal networks that are coupled can significantly alter the extracellular field potential. Interventions of coupling mediated by local field potentials could result in desynchronization of epileptic seizures. （3） The synchronized electrical activity generated by neurons is sensitive to changes in the size of the extracellular space, which affects the efficiency of field potential transmission and the threshold of cell excitability. （4） Manipulations of the field potential fluctuations could help block synchronization at seizure onset.

Surface Modification With Zinc and Zn-Ni Alloy Compositionally Modulated Multilayer Coatings

Zinc and Zn-Ni alloy compositionally modulated multilayer （CMM） coatings were electrodeposited on to a steel substrate by the successive deposition of zinc and Zn-Ni alloy sublayers from dual baths. The coated samples were evaluated in terms of the surface appearance, surface and cross-sectional morphologies, as well as corrosion resistance. The microstructural characteristics that were examined using the field emission gun scanning electron microscopy （FEGSEM） confirmed the layered structure, grain refinement of the zinc and Zn-Ni alloy CMM coatings, and revealed the existence of microcracks caused by the internal stress in the thick Zn-Ni alloy sublayers. The corrosion resistance that was evaluated by means of the salt spray test shows that the zinc and Zn-Ni alloy CMM coatings were more corrosion-resistant than the monolithic coatings of zinc or Zn-Ni alloy of the same thickness. The possible reasons for the better protective performance of Zn-Ni/Zn CMM coatings were given on the basis of the analysis on the micrographic features of zinc and Zn-Ni alloy CMM eoatings after the corrosion test. A probable corrosion mechanism of zinc and Zn-Ni alloy CMM coatings was also proposed.

Every Weakly Compact Set Can Be Uniformly Embedded into a Reflexive Banach Space

Based on an application of the Davis-Figiel-Johnson-Pelzyski procedure, this note shows that every weakly compact subset of a Banach space can be uniformly embedded into a reflexive Banach space. As its application, we present the recent renorming theorems for reflexive spaces of Odell- Schlumprecht and Hajek-Johanis can be extended and localized to weakly compact convex subsets of an arbitrary Banach space.

High-dimensional aerodynamic data modeling using a machine learning method based on a convolutional neural network

Modeling high-dimensional aerodynamic data presents a significant challenge in aero-loads prediction, aerodynamic shape optimization, flight control, and simulation. This article develops a machine learning approach based on a convolutional neural network (CNN) to address this problem. A CNN can implicitly distill features underlying the data. The number of parameters to be trained can be significantly reduced because of its local connectivity and parameter-sharing properties, which is favorable for solving high-dimensional problems in which the training cost can be prohibitive. A hypersonic wing similar to the Sanger aerospace plane carrier wing is employed as the test case to demonstrate the CNN-based modeling method. First, the wing is parameterized by the free-form deformation method, and 109 variables incorporating flight status and aerodynamic shape variables are defined as model input. Second, more than 7000 sample points generated by the Latin hypercube sampling method are evaluated by performing computational fluid dynamics simulations using a Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes flow solver to obtain an aerodynamic database, and a CNN model is built based on the observed data. Finally, the well-trained CNN model considering both flight status and shape variables is applied to aerodynamic shape optimization to demonstrate its capability to achieve fast optimization at multiple flight statuses.

Scoring systems for prediction of mortality in decompensated liver cirrhosis: A meta-analysis of test accuracy

AIM To compare the accuracy of the scoring systems ChildTurcotte-Pugh(CTP), Model for End-stage Liver Disease score(MELD), MELD-Na, and MELD to Serum Sodium ratio(MESO) to predict the mortality in decompensated liver *** The PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, and Ovid databases were systematically searched from inception to September 2018 for relevant articles, and we evaluated the quality of the included studies. The accuracy of scoring systems was analyzed with Stata 12 and MetaDiSc *** Sixteen studies involving 2337 patients were included. The pooled areas under the summary receiver operating characteristic curves(AUROCs) of CTP, MELD, MELD-Na, and MESO to predict mortality were 0.81,0.78, 0.85, and 0.86, respectively. Within 3 mo, the AUROCs of CTP, MELD, and MELD-Na in predicting mortality were 0.78, 0.76, and 0.89, respectively. The AUROCs of CTP, MELD, and MELD-Na at 3 mo were 0.86, 0.78, and 0.86, respectively. The AUROCs of CTP, MELD, and MELD-Na at 6 mo were 0.91, 0.83, and 0.90, respectively. The AUROCs of CTP, MELD, and MELDNa at 12 mo were 0.72, 0.75 and 0.84, respectively. In cirrhotic patients with bleeding, the AUROCs of CTP and MELD were 0.76 and 0.88, *** MESO has the highest AUROC in all assessed scoring systems. Considering the different time points, MELDNa has good accuracy in predicting the mortality of decompensated liver cirrhosis. Compared to CTP, MELD is better in predicting variceal bleeding.

Arabidopsis Di 19 Functions as a Transcription Factor and Modulates PR1, PR2, and PR5 Expression in Response to Drought Stress

The Arabidopsis Di19 （Drought-induced） gene family encodes seven Cys2/His2-type zinc-finger proteins, most with unknown functions. Here, we report that Di19 functioned as a transcriptional regulator and was involved in Arabidopsis responses to drought stress through up-regulation of pathogenesis-related PR1, PR2, and PR5 gene expres- sions. The Di19 T-DNA insertion mutant di19 was much more sensitive to drought stress, whereas the Di19-overexpressing lines were much more tolerant to drought stress compared with wild-type plants. Di19 exhibited transactivation activity in our yeast assay, and its transactivation activity was further confirmed in vivo. DNA-binding analysis revealed that Di19 could bind to the TACA（A/G）T element and chromatin immunoprecipitation （CHIP） assays demonstrated that Di19 could bind to the TACA（A/G）T element within the PR1, PR2, and PR5 promoters, qRT-PCR results showed that Di19 promoted the expressions of PR1, PR2, and PRS, and these heightened expressions were enhanced by CPK11, which interacted with Di19 in the nucleus. Similarly to the Di19-overexpressing line, PRI-, PR2-, and PRS-overexpressing lines also showed the drought-tolerant phenotype. The pre-treatment with salicylic acid analogs INA can enhance plants＇ drought tolerance. Taken together, these data demonstrate that Di19, a new type of transcription factor, directly up-regulates the expres- sions of PR1, PR2, and PR5 in response to drought stress, and its transactivation activity is enhanced by CPK11.

Fractional Angular Momentum of an Atom on a Noncommutative Plane

The mechanism of obtaining the fractional angular momentum by employing a trapped atom which possesses a permanent magnetic dipole moment in the background of two electric fields is reconsidered by using an alternative method. Then, we generalize this model to a noncommutative plane. We show that there are two different mechanisms,which include cooling down the atom to the negligibly small kinetic energy and modulating the density of electric charges to the critical value to get the fractional angular momentum theoretically.

Liver transplantation is an effective treatment for patients with end-stage liver disease. Accurate imaging evaluation of the transplanted patient is critical for ensuring that the limited donor liver is functioning appropriately. Ultrasound contrast agents(UCAs), in combination with contrastspecific imaging techniques, are increasingly accepted in clinical use for the assessment of the hepatic vasculature, bile ducts and liver parenchyma in pre-, intra- and posttransplant patients. We describe UCAs, their technical requirements, the recommended clinical indications, image interpretation and the limitations for contrastenhanced ultrasound applications in liver transplantation.
