First-Principles Calculations for Stable β-Ti–Mo Alloys Using Cluster-Plus-Glue-Atom Model

Construction of suitable structural models in order to account for chemical short-range orders is the reason behind the difficult multi-scale computational simulation methods for solid ***,using Ti-Mo alloys as representative,we used our cluster-plus-glue-atom model to address the chemical short-range orders for body-center cubic *** accordance with the atomic interaction mode,an Mo solute atom would prefer 14 Ti solvent atoms as its nearest neighbors,forming a rhombic-dodecahedral cluster,and some next outer-shell Mo and Ti atoms would serve as the glue atoms,which is formulated as [Mo-Ti14](Mo,Ti)*** number of glue atoms x corresponds to different spatial distribution of the *** of the formula having good stability is [Mo-Ti14]Mo,i.e.,with one Mo as the glue *** verify its stability,mechanical properties and electronic density of state are obtained using the first-principles calculations and the Young’s modulus agrees with the experimental *** the formulated structural unit [Mo-Ti14]Mo is indeed verified by the cluster expansion *** work then confirms the existence of simple structural unit covering the nearest neighbors and a few next outershell atoms for the Ti-Mo alloy of high structural stability.

Numerical evaluation of the ground response induced by dewatering in a multi-aquifer system

This study presents a numerical investigation of dewatering-induced settlement and wall deflection during pumping tests in Tianjin,*** on the measured groundwater head and building settlement during the pumping test,a three-dimensional liquid-solid coupling model is established by using the finite element method(FEM).The void ratio,hydraulic conductivity,and elastic modulus of each layer are back-calculated through the numerical *** groundwater drawdown,seepage field,ground settlement,horizontal ground displacement,and diaphragm wall lateral deflection are analyzed using the FEM *** simulated results demonstrate that(i)the maximum ground settlement outside of the excavation reaches to 82 mm due to the leakage effect of aquitards;(ii)large horizontal displacement occurs in the soil during the pumping test with a maximum value of 28.3 mm,and the installation of the diaphragm wall in the aquifer can reduce the horizontal displacement of the ground;(iii)long-term pumping causes a large lateral deflection of the diaphragm wall,and a maximum value of 23.2 mm occurs at the layer where the screens of the wells are located;and(iv)long-term large-scale pumping should be avoided before excavation.

Analysis of the Dynamic System of Wave Glider with a Towed Body

Mobile observation platforms are widely used in oceanographic and marine resource exploration and other applications. Wave Glider is a mobile platform that can transform wave energy into locomotion power and overcome the bottleneck of low energy supply. Wave Glider has recently been applied to tow underwater sensors fulfilling observation tasks. In this paper, the dynamic system of Wave Glider with a towed body is studied by applying multibody mechanics, and the relevant motion conditions of the system are investigated. Dynamic models of Wave Glider with a towed body and tether are first developed individually and then integrated into a whole model. The numerical method is used to obtain the dynamic responses and assess performance of the towed body pulled by the submerged glider of Wave Glider. The effects of sea state, mass of the towed body, and length of the towed cable are investigated on the basis of simulation results. This work can be used for the design and analysis of Wave Glider-towed body systems.

Capillary electrochromatography(CEC)plays a significant role in chiral separation via the double separation principle,partition coefficient difference between the two phases,and electroosmotic flow-driven *** the distinct properties of the inner wall stationary phase(SP),the separation ability of each SP differs from one ***,it provides large room for promising applications of open tubular capillary electrochromatography(OT-CEC).We divided the OT-CEC SPs developed over the past four years into six types:ionic liquids,nanoparticle materials,microporous materials,biomaterials,non-nanopolymers,and others,to mainly introduce their characteristics in chiral drug *** also added a few classic SPs that occurred within ten years as supplements to enrich the features of each ***,we discuss their applications in metabolomics,food,cosmetics,environment,and biology as analytes in addition to chiral ***-CEC plays an increasingly significant role in chiral separation and may promote the development of capillary electrophoresis(CE)combined with other instruments in recent years,such as CE with mass spectrometry(CE/MS)and CE with ultraviolet light detector(CE/UV).

At present,most k-dominant Skyline query algorithms are oriented to static datasets,this paper proposes a k-dominant Skyline query algorithm for dynamic *** algorithm is recursive ***,we compute the dominant ability of each object and sort objects in descending order by dominant ***,we maintain an inverted index of the dominant index by k-dominant Skyline point calculation *** the data changes,it is judged whether the update point will afect the k dominant Skyline point *** the k-dominant Skyline point of the new data set is obtained by inserting and deleting *** proposed algorithm resolves maintenance isue of a frequently updated database by dynamically updating the data *** experimental results show that the query algorithm can efectively improve query eficiency.

QMCR:A Q-Learning-Based Multi-Hop Cooperative Routing Protocol for Underwater Acoustic Sensor Networks

Routing plays a critical role in data transmission for underwater acoustic sensor networks(UWSNs)in the internet of underwater things(IoUT).Traditional routing methods suffer from high end-toend delay,limited bandwidth,and high energy *** the development of artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms,many researchers apply these new methods to improve the quality of *** this paper,we propose a Qlearning-based multi-hop cooperative routing protocol(QMCR)for *** protocol can automatically choose nodes with the maximum Q-value as forwarders based on distance ***,we combine cooperative communications with Q-learning algorithm to reduce network energy consumption and improve communication *** results show that the running time of the QMCR is less than one-tenth of that of the artificial fish-swarm algorithm(AFSA),while the routing energy consumption is kept at the same *** to the extremely fast speed of the algorithm,the QMCR is a promising method of routing design for UWSNs,especially for the case that it suffers from the extreme dynamic underwater acoustic channels in the real ocean environment.

Impact of Embeddedness in Global Value Chains on the Differentiation of Technological Sophistication of Exports

This paper adopts the production decomposition developed by Wang et al.(2017)and data from the World Input-Output Database(WIOD)to estimate the degrees of forward and backward participation in global value chains(GVCs)in 2000-2014 by the world’s major economies including China,and to do an empirical examination on the impact that heterogeneous forms of participation in GVCs have on the improvement of *** results show that forward participation in GVCs helps increase the sophistication of exports,while backward participation in GVCs exerts different infl uence on the sophistication of *** a lower level of backward participation by a country is constrained by the country’s current position in the international division of labor and thus does not help increase the sophistication of its exports,a higher level of backward participation helps break through the bottleneck of low-end locking in GVCs and increase the sophistication of exports.

Numerical Investigation of the Influence of Fuel Concentration Gradient on Propane/Oxygen Detonation Propagation

In this paper,one-and two-dimensional numerical simulations are carried out to study the effects of fuel concentration gradients(such as steep,intermediate and shallow)on the detonation wave *** equivalent ratio range of detonation propagation,the quenching mechanism and the change of cell size are discussed in *** simulation results show,as the fuel concentration gradient increases,the detonation wavefront decays faster and decouples into a leading shock and a following flame at equivalence ratios of 0.68,0.64 and 0.62,***,there are two modes of the quenching *** occurs in the steep gradient that the detonation wave fails *** O_(2)in front of the detonation wave passes through the detonation wave and forms some unburned O_(2)*** unburned pockets are affected by the marginal walls and reduce the heat *** other occurs in the intermediate and shallow gradients that more triple points will survive in the flow field,which leads to a difference in the propagation speed of the detonation *** makes the detonation wavefront bent and *** unburned O_(2)pockets are affected by the strong instability near the triple points and show different distribution characteristics compared with the steep gradient,which may be helpful to the detonation *** addition,as the fuel concentration gradient increases,the triple points moving toward the wall gradually disappear while the triple points that move toward the center can continue to survive,which leads to the gradual increase in cell size and irregularity of the cell structure.

Liquefaction of sandy soils is a big threat to the stability and the safety of an earth embankment laid on saturated soils.A large number of liquefaction-induced damages on embankment due to different types of earthquakes have been reported *** this research,the dynamic behaviors of earth embankment and the reinforcement effects of grouting as remediation method,subjected to moderate earthquake EQ1 and strong earthquake EQ2,were numerically *** seismic behaviors of ground composed of cohesionless sandy soil and cohesive clayey soil were uniformly described by the cyclic mobility(CM)model,which is capable of describing accurately the mechanical property of the soil due to monotonic and cyclic loadings by accounting for stress-induced anisotropy,over-consolidation,and soil *** is known from the numerical investigation that the embankment would experience destructive deformation,and that the collapse mode was closely related to the properties of input seismic motion because high intensities and long durations of an earthquake motion could lead to significant plastic deformation and prolonged soil *** the strong seismic loading of EQ2,a circular collapse surface,combined with huge settlement and lateral spread,occurred inside the liquefication zone and extended towards the embankment *** contrast,in moderate earthquake EQ1,upheaval was observed at each toe of the embankment,and instability occurred only in the liquefied *** anti-liquefaction remediation via grouting was determined to significantly reduce liquefaction-induced deformation(settlement,lateral spreading,and local uplift)and restrain the deep-seated circular sliding failure,even though the top sandy soil liquefied in both *** the structure was subjected to EQ2 motion,local failure occurred on the embankment slope reinforced with grouting,and thus,an additional appropriate countermeasure should be implemented to further strengthen the slope.

The influence of bioturbation on sandy reservoirs: the delta front sand of the lower Zhujiang Formation, Baiyun Depression, Zhujiang River Mouth Basin

Ichnofossils are well developed in clastic rock reservoirs in marine and transitional facies, which can considerably change the physical properties of the reservoir. However, this influence is not well understood, raising an important problem in the effective development of petroleum reservoirs. This paper analyzes continental shelf margin delta reservoirs through core observation, cast thin section observation and reservoir physical property test. Some important scientific insights are obtained:(1) The presence of Cruziana ichnofacies, including Asterosoma, Ophiomorpha, Planolites, Skolithos, Thalassinoides, and other ichnofossils can be used to identify in subaqueous distributary channels, subaqueous levee, frontal sheet sand, abandoned river channels, crevasse channels, main channels and channel mouth bars. Considerable differences in the types of ichnofossils and the degree of bioturbation can be observed in the different petrofacies.(2) Ichnofossils and bioturbation play a complex role in controlling reservoir properties. The reservoir physical properties have the characteristics of a decrease–increase–decrease curve with increasing bioturbation degree. This complex change is controlled by the sediment mixing and packing of bioturbation and the diagenetic environment controlled by the ichnofossils.(3) Sea-level cycle changes affect the modification of the reservoir through sediment packing. Bioturbation weakens the reservoir's physical property when sea level slowly rises and improves the reservoir's physical property when base level slowly falls.
